  1. I'll never forgive him for openly admitting (in the bar at Exeter) that he could have been trying "a little harder," when chatting to 2 fans and the speedway reporter for the local (Newcastle) paper (also a fan).
  2. Surely that was more Berwick's fault for signing him?
  3. The thing is though, in my opinion, something should have been, at least started, to be done about it 5 or more years ago, when it was apparent tthe sport was on the slippery slope downwards.
  4. A lot of tracks (in the PL at any rate) do the 'Kids for a Quid' scheme (especially through the School Hols) and some do have free admission for kids (particularly under 5's). Whether this is enough, is open to debate.
  5. Next signing announced at 10pm tonight, according to Ian Rae on Twitter
  6. Just for the record.... Lemo had this to say on Facebook... "Nothing ever seems to amaze me anymore! Signed & sealed contract with Plymouth Devils for 2014 British Premier League Speedway. Now they want to reshuffled the lineup & I'm the one that gets outed."
  7. Clinton Leitch. Was Scott Smith not with them at the same time? I seem to remember 3 Aussies in second half races at Brough. Rusty was the obvious pick of them, even then.
  8. So post #30 is a 'put up job' is it? Would Matt Ford have been happy if someone 'leaked' the info that Darcy Ward was returning to Poole in 2014, before he announced it? Of course he wouldn't, so why do it to someone else?
  9. Those 3 without reductions comes to a whopping 25.70! Leaving just 16.8 for the final 4 places!
  10. Tully has said he's taking a year out of speedway, I believe (can't remember where I saw that though!).
  11. SkyBet in 2004? http://www.crash.net/speedway/news/100423/1/sky_bet_sponsor_elite_league.html
  12. Also read on Twitter it was a 5 year deal?
  13. With all the potential fixture clashes this coming season (EL/PL/NL), it could be a long drawn out affair. So we might be looking at mid-Feb for fixtures to be released.
  14. In his/her defence, I think ruffdiamond was having a go at others who have a go about our track (because they have nothing else to contribute to the thread - I believe it's called 'trolling').
  15. Throwing a bit of a curve-ball in here. I haven't seen Benji Compton's name mentioned. Would Tigers fans have him back, along with elder brother Andre? Benji C seemed to be scoring quite well in the CL towards the end of last season, which is why I mention him.
  16. I missed the meeting as I think it clashed with the Ozchem meeting or something similar at Sheffield as I was helping GRT at the time, so I think it was a bit later than 2008 but could be wrong. The 80th Anniversary year was 2009 was it not? 1929-2009, so it may have been then. http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk/80th%20Anniversary.htm
  17. 5.00. But I think it depends on experience etc., (if they have ridden in Sweden, Denmark etc.).
  18. He (I think) believes Season Tickets will sell when a team is announced. It doesn't always work like that, though, as many buy the season ticket anyway, no matter what the team and also even before a single rider is announced. But, of course, there will be those who wait to see a (near) full team announced before deciding whether a sesaon Ticket is worth it, or whether to pick and choose the meetings they are going to attend.
  19. At Newcastle the local BBC usually turn up (either Jeff Brown or, as last season, Dawn Thewlis) and I think TyneTees also were there last season Unless a big local sports story breaks and that happens GRTMedia supply their, as usual, excellent footage. A few years back, Newcastle tried a 'donation only' type meeting (if I remember crrectly there was a minimum donation of a £1 or so, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong), with wheelie competitions, races, gating etc., and, by all accounts, the place was packed. The following week, when full admission applied, the crowd was back to near normal.
