  1. I could be wrong (it has been known!!), but with us in the KO Cup draw and League Cup draw and 11 teams named in the Championship, it's more than likely we have said we are running in 2018. But, having said that, there seems to be a question mark, still, over Workington's participation in 2018 and they are named in the same competitions (ironically we've drawn each other (again!) in the KO Cup), so I guess we should await an official statement form the club.
  2. Next three signings to be announced at midnight..... Just beat me to it beaky11 !!
  3. Haven't watched the Pearson Video, so thanks for the info.
  4. If it is still home and away twice (they haven't said either way!) that's 40 League matches 6 Trophy and at least 2 KO cup matches (plus the usual pre-season challenges) and we struggled to get them all in last season!!
  5. That's for them to decide. If a large enough sponsor(s) can be found, then they might not struggle financially, making it totally viable to run in 2018.
  6. Workington are still not 100% running in 2018 according to this: http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/Workington-Comets-owner-considering-clubs-future-after-race-night-switch-rejected-1bb9fae6-16f3-44b4-b557-e629f7a56704-ds
  7. NEWS | AGM ended 18:50 UK. Full update 10am Monday. Great progress with fixed race days 8 Premiership clubs 11 Championship clubs Team building averages agreed Fans feedback re tac sub and starting rules taken on board PLUS other initiatives
  8. The question then is, would this compromise rider safety?
  9. So, you think they would release news on the very first day of an AGM? To say that is delusional is an understatement.
  10. She probably is, but it is quite a big trap..
  11. Here's a bit of "history" as Trelawny signed Matej Zagar: http://www.crash.net/speedway/news/98812/1/a-slovenian-in-cornwall R.I.P +
  12. I think what George said was "hopefully, we will know in about 2 weeks." I don't think you can put a definite timescale to this sort of thing. We just need to be patient.
  13. Would it also not affect attendances too? If you've got one (or more) NL type rider guesting for your team (especially if it's the number one and/or number two in the averages they are replacing), would you turn up and watch, knowing the likelihood is a thrashing?
  14. That looks like the 1975 or 1976 team that you are meaning. '75 team (mainly) was (appearances in brackets) Tom (47) & Joe (44), Havvy (41), Ron Henderson46), Mike Watkin (37), Robbie Blackadder (35), Tim Swales (39) and Phil Michelides (36). John Robson (4) and Tony Boyle (1) also appeared. The '76 team was: Joe O (39), Tom O (42) Ron H (27), Phil M (40), Havvy (10), Andy Cusworth (42), Robbie B (36) and Tim S (34). Also (briefly) appearing were: Greg Clarke (1), Martin Cusworth (2), Malcolm Davies (3), Gerarde Ellis (4) and Robin Dixon (5).
  15. He'd miss half the season's home matches though (unless Workington ran midweek).
  16. Kenny Carter only rode for us for one season(1978) and he finished third in the teams averages (7.58). Other riders included, Tom Owen, Robbie Blackadder, Robbie Gardner, Graeme Stapleton, Rod Hunter and Neil Coddington.
  17. And the talk is said to be that the 'top flight' could be running on a Monday & Thursday, if that is the case, we won't be running on a Monday. The top flight won't be being run on a Sunday, so that would (I believe) mean that, if indeed we are running, we would stay on a Sunday. It's all hypothetical though.
  18. Just to add to my post (#96), when we brought in our own (Darryl) burger van, the then landlords, William Hill, soon put a stop to it.
  19. If it's the same as before, I believe the landlords get it all. The only 'extra' income the speedway gets is the Car Park money (not sure if we, or the landlords pay for the security), the 50/50 draw and the track shop profits, off the top of my head.
  20. Yeah. We didn't run in 1988, returning in 1989, with a top two of Rod Hunter and Peter Carr.
  21. One of the youngsters was Darryl Illingworth's daughter, I seem to recall.
  22. I don't deal in rumours, I only deal with facts, so, as it stands. 10 - 1 = 9.
