Magpie, the tram stop is called "Vypich"... Other options : From "Hradcanska" Metro Station (Line A), take tram 1 or 18 to Vetrnik. Go to "Andel" Metro Station, walk a few yards to the "Andel" Bus Terminus, and get bus 191 to "Vypich"

BSI Confirm 2005 Swedish GP Venues
jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is it at the same place as the previous arena? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kevin, the old Smederna track called "Snalltjorpet" was in the centre of Eskilstuna. However, the new track at Grondal is on the outskirts of the town, and a taxi or bus will be required to get to the track...I would imagine BSI & Smederna will have to talk to Eskilstuna council to lay on a special bus service for the GP...Should not be a problem though, as there is already a bus service in place for Smederna's league matches (details here - http://www.smederna.nu/smedbuss.asp) -

Just read this : (http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/swedishleague/a3717) MASARNA ASKING FOR ECONOMICAL AID Despite this year’s success on the track, Masarna is on the verge of an economical crisis. The club has now asked the municipality for help with a loan of 1 850 000 SEK (approx. 140 000 £). It is local paper Dala-Demokraten that reveals the troubles of Tony Rickardsson’s Masarna. This summer two private persons offered the sum mentioned above as a loan when the club had acute problems with liquidity. Masarna accepted the offer but would now like to pay back the money to the benefactors, by way of a loan from the municipality. They are hoping for the community leaders to appreciate the team’s importance to the area and put up the money without any demand for interest. Both lower income and higher expenses are behind the economical difficulties. The latter is mainly due to the success on the track: Almost every rider in the team has ridden above their average and the club has paid a record high amount of salary in 2,9 million SEK. On the income side it is mainly the rainy summer and lower attendance that are visible in the books. The club’s revenue was one million SEK bellow budget and of course that makes for problems when the margins are tight. Worth mentioning, though, is the fact that the club has claims of approximately one million SEK on sponsors and others, making the real debt a great deal smaller. More positive is that Fredrik Lindgren finally has decided to stay with Masarna. This means that Bjarne Pedersen, who recently won the Elite league riders championship in the U.K., will have to leave the club. The Danish star will have no problems in finding a new club, though, as both Vargarna and Bajen Speedway are said to be after his signature.

Well Duh ! What do you expect.....I mean, Eastbourne for the poor girls first live speedway meeting ? Yeah, you have a much better chance with Prague - Good nightlife, culture, speedway, English bacon & sausages from Robertson's , M&S , cheap beer, anything you could want , basically Dont forget that if you do come out to Czecho next year, and base yourself in Prague, then its a 90 minute train ride each way to Pardubice.... -

jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There IS an M&S in Prague, mate, in Na Prikope I think it is, which is downtown Prague You could also visit Chris Robertson's Deli in Prague 4 - Chris is an expat selling English Bacon, and various other items, such as Marmite, Branston Pickle, etc..... You can read about Chris' shop here : http://www.allpraha.com/?page=resourcedeta...%20Delicatessen -
ST, Sebbe is 19, Swedish, and rides with Leigh & Trick for Masarna in Sweden... He was a target for Coventry last year, but could not sign for the Bees, as he rode on Thursday nights for "Team Dalakraft", which is Masarna's reserve team in the Allsvenskan league.... No doubt "Zetters" has even more info.....

Pardubice Weekend 2005 - Dates
jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Pardubice certainly is , Kevin.... I always fly to Prague, and then get the train (Vlak in Czech) to Pardubice, which takes about 90 minutes, usually on a direct train (i.e. you do not have to change trains). The fare is about £5. I have only been to Slany once, and that was on the Prague team bus, but looking at the train timetables on http://www.vlak.cz , a train from Prague to Slany takes about 30 minutes.... **If you look at timetables on Vlak.cz , you have to use local place names (Praha not Prague for example) By the way, Vlak.cz has English & German Language versions too.... Of course, you can always employ the services of that well known connoiseur of Czech Travel, "Browns Tours", AKA Mr. Christopher Brown Esquire.... Hope this helps. Jeffster -

Pardubice Weekend 2005 - Dates
jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Very true BH, and this has always been the case.... However, the Golden Helmet appearances of a certain Mr. T Gollob from Poland are as rare as rocking horse dung..... I have been to every CGH since 1997, and I can only recall Tomasz riding in this meeting once..... Hope you're having a fantastic time in Prague.....I am not jealous or anything ....... -

Unfortunately, the excellent "Speedwayinfo" website, focussing on Czech Speedway, is no longer with us.... However, Antonin Skach and the team behind "Speedwayinfo" have launched a new site , "Speedway A-Z", which is available here : http://www.speedway.aktualne.cz/

The Calendar 2005 Lets fill the dots in
jeffster replied to Hazzman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think (well, this is what I gleaned from speaking to the "fearless one" in Torshalla ), that the two Swedish GPs will be at either : Eskilstuna OR Avesta Malilla Simply because Eskilstuna and Avesta are quite close to together, and it would make good sense to have the two Swedish GP's in different parts of Sweden.....
