Floppy Norris at Vergarna
jeffster replied to Brightonbob's topic in International World of Speedway
There is an Airport in Norrkoping, but none of the cheapy airlines fly there.... Your best, and cheapest, option is probably Stansted to Stockholm Skavsta Airport (which is in the town of Nykoping), and then get a train to Norrkoping.... -
Iris, I have taken the liberty of cutting / pasting / translating (using pidgeon Czech..) the article that you linked to : Prowizoryczny kalendarz cyklu Grand Prix 2005: 30 czerwca (30.04) - Polska (miejsce do ustalenia, prawdopodobnie Wrocław) 14 maja (14.05) - Szwecja (miejsce do ustalenia) 28 maja (28.05) - Słowenia (miejsce do ustalenia, prawdopodobnie Krsko) 11 czerwca (11.06) - W. Brytania (Cardiff) 25 czerwca (25.06) - Dania (Kopenhaga) 13 sierpnia (13.08) - Czechy (Praga) 27 sierpnia (27.08) - Szwecja (miejsce do ustalenia) 10 września (10.09) - Holandia lub Niemcy 24 września (24.09) - Polska (miejsce do ustalenia, prawdopodobnie Bydgoszcz). Notes : Szwecja = Sweden miejsce do ustalenia, prawdopodobnie Wrocław = Venue un-confirmed , probably Wroclaw miejsce do ustalenia = Venue unconfirmed Holandia lub Niemcy = Holland or Germany The most interesting, and maybe surprising, is the round slated for Holland or Germany on 10th September...Maybe the rumours about a round being staged at Ajax Stadium in Amsterdam will come true......

Grand Prix
jeffster replied to SpeedieGonzalez's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Personally, I think the "seeded riders" issue is a farce.... I do not object to any of the 5 riders that have been given seeded places riding in the GP series in 2005, after all they were the next best 5 riders after the top 8, but why go through the seemingly pointless wait / debate about who the seeded riders will be in the first place ? Why dont BSI / FIM just say that the top 13 will automatically qualify for next season ? -
GP & SWC 2005 - Provisional Dates
jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would guess that a lot of dates are "TBA" simply because Benfield have not yet concluded negotiations with the stadiums they want to stage the GP's in.... I would hope that the 2005 GP Calendar will be confirmed by the end of November at the latest....We just have to wait & see..... -
GP & SWC 2005 - Provisional Dates
jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yes, mate, it will...... However, the dates I was given for next year were : Sept 23 - Junior Golden Helmet (1900 hours) Sept 24 - World Under 21 Team Cup Final (1230 hours) Sept 25 - Golden Helmet (1230 hours) Sept 26 - Tomicek Memorial (1900 hours) However, now that the 2005 GP dates have been announced, it seems like the Golden Helmet weekend will be put back a week...... -

Very true, BilaHora.... Well, in my opinion, Prague is lovely 365 days a year.... However, as Rico says, there is is more chance of Carmen Electra having triplets with Pope John Paul than there is of the Prague GP being held in November.... Just aint gonna happen, dude......... -

Thing is though is, the Americann & Aussie GP competitors will be sunning themselves in California, Sydney, Melbourne, etc...... GP season finishes early October, Speedway season itself finishes October 31st....Would be a pretty empty stadium at Marketa in November
-
No official news as yet....However, my guess would be May..

OK Iris, here goes : Sitera - 16 or 17 I think...Could be seriously good - Filip has potential for sure, and perhaps just as importantly, the backing & connections - His uncle is Miroslav Verner, brother of Vaclav....Miroslav is a "big cheese" in the Czech Federation.... Kollert - Must confess to not knowing much about him, but he seems to be a tidy rider... Vandirek - You know about him already.... Simota - Another young up and comer, and one of Lubos' best mates in the sport as it happens.... Liebezeit - Never heard of him to be honest... Visvader - Actually a Slovak from Zohor, near Bratislava, but now living in Svitkov, a village a stones throw from the Pardubice track...Must be about 34 / 35 now, and his best days are definitely behind him....Nice bloke though, and we had a drink or two after this years Czech Golden Helmet a few weeks back....
-
'Fraid not..... The 2005 Czech GP will probably be in May, but I could be wrong....In any case, the GP season finishes in early October each year....
-
Thanks, Iris.... Lubos' sent me a text message after the meeting.....And from Dohren yesterday
-
Thanks Tomaz

Any news from yesterdays meeting ?

36th Lubos Tomicek Memorial
jeffster replied to Chris Brown's topic in International World of Speedway
Chris, Filip is the nephew of Miroslav Verner, who is Vaclav Verner's brother......So a good pedigree there, and "good backing, good money" so our man in Prague tells me -
Any Forum members going to Czech Golden Helmet ?
jeffster replied to jeffster's topic in International World of Speedway
See you there Jeff, we will be around the start/finish line. I will call you mobile and we can meet up. Are you on your UK mobile while you are there ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Chris, I will call or text you from my Czech PAYG Mobile. That way, you wont be paying roaming charges to call me, and I wont be paying roaming charges to receive your call. I need to top up my Czech PAYG as soon as I get to Prague (Have to top it up every 6 months), which will mean I will have about £40 in credit on it, so I may as well use that credit.... -

You wont make Sparta V. Pardubice on the day of the Golden Helmet, Brian...The match starts at 18.30.... Also, TP's estimate that you will be in your hotel in Prague by 1900 seems a little optimistic... Are you staying in Pardubice itself ? In previous years, TP have stayed in Hradec Kralove, which is 30 - 45 minutes by coach from Pardubice.... Also, I have mislaid your phone numbers, so please email them to me at jeff@jeffpovey.com - I am sure we can meet up in Pardubice either at track or in a Bar, and if you are taking a mobile with you, it will make things easier to arrange... -

Yes, Jeff, Im going with TP. Do you know if there is there any ice hockey in Pardubice on Friday night? Brian Collins <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No Brian, there isnt - when we are in Pardubuce, they are away - on Friday 24th at Plzen, and Sunday 26th, at Sparta Prague... The Pardubice hockey club website is here : http://www.hcpce.cz/ (The fixture list is "Rozlosovani" in Czech) If you are in Prague on Tuesday 28th September, Sparta Prague Hockey are at home to Liberec , and also Sparta Prague FC are at home to Olympic Lyon in Champions League Football action....
