A little extra news non team related is that Plymouth have had a variation planning application accepted so we can now host meetings on Bank Holiday Mondays as well as Fridays and Saturdays.
-
I do hope we are in it to develop our own side. Scunny have had some great prospects come through their ranks and I'd love Plymouth to replicate something similar. I'm actually quite surprised there aren't more fresh faces but hopefully in the future we will see more youngsters come through. Yeah Reade has also got a place in the PL side which does worry me a little, what with him racing all three leagues but he's a good lad and if he can get going and get his tail up early on I think he'll do okay.
-
When I say improve I'm talking about the team as a whole and that they are all young. From what I have heard and from the scores I've seen, Benko is probably going to struggle to average 3 initially but the hope like with all overseas newbies is that he gets better with time. Fingers crossed! If not I'm sure the promotion will make changes!
-
Wouldn't necessarily disagree with that, but it's all about improvement for me and every member is still young enough to improve in my book. 11th last season so top 10 will do me nicely.

Official Teams For 2014

Kalle Katajisto (4.92) and Ben Reade (3.00) complete the Plymouth line up... http://www.plymouthdevils.co/new-year-cheer,-the-devils-are-complete.html -
Nice to see a young side with plenty of potential, Barker at 25 is the old man of the side! Reade coming back from injury will probably need a little time but hopefully Kalle can take the pressure off him with some good scores at reserve. Pretty happy on the whole.
-
Indeed...I'm led to believe the final two riders are to be named in the coming few days.
-
So it appears Danny Stoneman and James Shanes are going to be in Demons colours for 2014 from the club website. On the Facebook page it also states Lee Smart, Ben Reade, Matt Bates and Richard Andrews will be in the side.
-
Good shout - I've done that on the Plymouth forum so might as well be consistent.

Ouch! I may have to seek legal advice on that one, oh wait I've heard that one somewhere before... The comments about them needing work permits were not what I responded to - It was your persistent barracking of the promotion. The work permit issue is a fact that can't really be argued so why would I argue that? I didn't! The only reason I even responded to your post was because quite frankly your constant abuse at the promotion and management is in many cases unjust? You love to come on here and go off about replacing people here and there but never seem to offer much else, how about you offer something a little constructive for a change? I wish I was in the position to write that kind of stuff, sadly yet again your WRONG with your accusations!

Indeed you would have thought so.

Peterborough Panthers 2014

Nielsen over Sticky every day of the week. That would indeed be a very tidy looking side! -
We have a consortium in charge at Plymouth and Mr Short is one member of that group. I'm led to believe he is the only member responsible for this deal so while I agree the promotion are at fault it is perhaps unfair to tarnish all of the promotion with the same brush. The bulk of the Plymouth promotion and management are very ambitious and weren't interested in bringing Lemon back.

Peterborough Panthers 2014

Welcome to the PL and good luck to the Panthers! Decent start to your side too! -
Blackbird is a great shout, I'd take him! I think we seem to be after Katajisto on 4.92 however! Rasmus needs one more away meeting to get an average which is likely to be around 6.2ish dependent on the away meet he rides. With that in mind we could sign a 3 pointer from our NL team for the first couple of meetings (Reade is a good shout) and then look to strengthen if he doesn't hit the ground running with the spare points that Rasmus will free up.

Great to see Plymouth investing in a 'junior' set up which will hopefully have some of the success Scunthorpe have enjoyed in developing their own. While I think this side should be used for youngster to get track time we do also need to be competitive in some way. So for me two bigger hitters with five youngsters would do me. I'd be shocked if asset Ben Reade wasn't leading the side. Conor Coles has also been linked and I'd like to see the two lads who rode in the Tony Samford memorial given a shot - Sam Chapman and Harvie Banks I believe. Both Nathan and Danny Stoneman also have Plymouth connections so could also be involved. Lee Smart wouldn't go down badly as the other experienced rider whilst Matt Bates, who has done a lot of positive things to keep the Exeter flag flying may also be involved. I'd also welcome a return to the shale for Josh Dingle as he showed massive promise a few seasons back. So plenty of local links and plenty of youngsters around!

Not at all - So because I make negative comments, I can't comment on other people being negative when I perhaps feel the criticism is unjust? Isn't that what a forum is for? It's hardly hypocritical as others pull me up on my comments all the time and I don't moan about that! I will openly admit I can be the most negative sod going but my negativity generally surrounds the signings or rider performances. Opinionated has made a b-line for the current management / promotion since they walked in the door! Please point out to me where I have said no-one else can have an opinion? I comment on others opinions to give my views just as others do to my comments, it doesn't make any of us right or wrong - Isn't that what forums are about? I am a negative git but then I also praise where it's deserved, sadly as Plymouth fans we haven't had loads to shout about since joining the PL - But in my view some of the comments from Opinionated are at times just purely vindictive!

Davies needing a work permit is no different to any other overseas rider needing one - It's normal, just because it gets reported on doesn't mean it's different to any other club securing work permits for their foreign riders. You seem to pick up on any small crack and try and turn it into something that simply isn't there. Had Somerset re-signed Davies or any other PL club for that matter they would have had to follow the same procedure - Get a grip! As for Lemon, yes it wasn't handled in great glory but I'm led to believe there was far more going on in this one than meets the eye! I do agree with you on one thing though - I wouldn't have considered him in the first place either! If we go out and sign three excellent riders and end up competing for a playoff spot, are you still going to come on and moan that they are from the wrong country or eat the wrong food!? No. Lets hope so, he has massive potential! I do agree but sadly this is a greater good moment - Happens all the time in speedway on this occasion Mark was the unfortunate one.
-
Lemo has been a credit to the sport of speedway in this Country but in my view last season was one too many for him. It is unfortunate that he had officially signed and has now had the offer of a team place withdrawn but it has happened before in speedway and will happen again. Personally I'm shocked he even considered a return given how unhappy he seemed to be last season with various things. Good luck to him in whatever he does but in my view it's onwards and upwards for Plymouth now.
-
Just for the record neither Lemon or Katajisto have actually signed yet.
-
Jensen definitely is not a Plymouth asset, he is one match short. Quite agree, Barker may end up around his start at 9.44 but Newman and Davies going away from Somerset where their averages are heavily favoured towards their home scores will surely see them drop. They may get dialled in after a while but if Davies improves on 7.3 I'd be shocked! Kalle, well some say he's got great potential, others say he's poor. With that in mind he'll probably get around his average. Benko won't hit his assessed figure and Lemon could well be a reserve by the end of the year. Poor team imo! Especially when you compare it to the teams already declared!
-
I think Kalle will be in the main body with Benko at reserve. Isn't Kalle on something like 5.4 - I'm sure he was last season for all of one lap that he rode for Plymouth in. Lemon is quite frankly a disgraceful signing that will see many fans think twice about attending. No-one wants to watch him poodle around at the back when he misses the gate. So much for 'loads of riders' wanting to come to Plymouth. That team is pretty piss poor and believe you me the last rider I'm hearing won't make things any better!
-
If our last three were Jensen and the Kurtz brothers we could maybe do Okay - However none of those are in the three I have heard about. The big rumour is that Lemon is returning which I hope to god isn't true!
