  1. Pretty certain Simota will be in there, so him in for Kurtz takes it to 42.48 which I'd take.
  2. This is Fisher all over. He will split people right down the middle. Some will argue he is too dangerous and a liability others will say he is entertainment personified. I tend to go with entertaining but not as consistent as I'd want my number one to be. On his average though he is a value signing but we must and I can't stress enough sign another top quality heat leader. I keep hearing noise about Risager who does ride Plymouth very well, but I'd want Richie Worrall myself as I feel he offers more potential improvement and is also a slightly lower starting average. So for me this will only be a good signing if we manage to secure good strength in depth. Worrall, Howarth & Blackbird to finish the top 5 and maybe Starke at reserve would fit and be very nice indeed (won't happen but we can dream).
  3. The fish! He is box office no doubt on his day, but I'm sure he said he didn't like the SBA when he rode for us, he isn't consistent and probably won't get any better. A starting average in the 7's would at least mean we have plenty left to get some strength in depth.
  4. If you're not on a wind up this doesn't sound promising.
  5. Indeed he is! Ryan Fisher tweeted tonight that he will be back stronger in 2015, is that a coincidence?
  6. Rasmus isn't riding in the UK in 2015 and believe me when I tell you Kalle won't be back. Kurtz isn't worth 5.96 in my book but is at least an asset (I think). Wouldn't be against the Fish coming back but don't think we'd pay the money to get him. Lewis Blackbird would be a fantastic signing but I keep hearing his name linked with the Panthers sadly. But the way that team is built average wise would be ideal in my book.
  7. On Benko, he can't get any worse than last year so although I'd have preferred other options, I don't think he is the worst shout in the world as a 3-point reserve. On Barker, for me if we try to replace him with a like-for-like replacement and build the team in a similar vein to last year then I totally agree that we will regret letting him leave (even though I personally wanted the change). However if we take this as an opportunity to rebuild with a more all round strength in the top 6 then I don't think we'll regret it at all. This will be emphasised even more if we can have a really strong reserve to partner Benko, Wethers at 5.50 would be ideal!
  8. Benko and Newman confirmed on Devils website as the first two names for 2015.
  9. Devils officially announce Benko and Newman... http://www.plymouthdevils.co/2015-team-building-announcement.html
  10. A tad too early to say that imo although I am a tad concerned we are 'waiting' to see whats left rather than competing with other teams to sign top riders. As others have said though there are still plenty of riders out there and I really hope we are looking at options that don't include the likes of Wright and Franc. Somerset announce their side on Thursday night so it will be very interesting to see who they name. The thing for me is that we've heard nothing since the AGM from the promotion, granted if there is no news then fair enough but it would be good to hear something even if it''s ruling riders out of a return!
  11. Don't think there is anything against the guy at all. The fans in general still love Barker but in my opinion he's found his level and bringing someone into the team with an average as high as his means the bottom end could suffer. I'd take Richie Worrall over him every day of the week!
  12. Agreed, add him to Adam Ellis and you'd have a belting young reserve pairing
  13. Add Lawson and Summers to those 5 and the Tigers should be a playoff side. Nice job by the promotion.
  14. Sadly that is the 5 being touted although I'm hoping it turns out not to be the case. Jensen isn't riding in the UK in 2015 apparently.
  15. Kennett and Garrity is a decent start for Rye and if Nelson comes over that's another decent rider. However if Len stays true to form I expect the rest of your side to be the same old mediocre from recent years. I personally hope Rye bring in some fresh blood but then I dare say most of you guys are hoping the same!
  16. I think that's fair and I've often been quoted as saying I'd sooner see an entertaining team get beat than a boring team win. Simota can provide memorable moments but I do think he requires a degree of 'carrying', he really needs to be more consistent home and away. That said if we can come up trumps with the rest of the top 5 we may just be OK. But providing all goes well this weekend at the AGM I think we can pencil in Newman, Simota and Benko for sure.
  17. To be fair I did post that over a month ago. It was more of a 'wish list' than anything else. Popular doesn't make you good value. He is coming in on an average of 6.10 which was basically obtained from home form at reserve. He has been poor at most away tracks and starting in the 1-5 will only see that average drop. He is great when the track suits but when it's too slick or wet Simota goes missing. On song he is great to watch but that hasn't been often enough especially away. I think there are better, more consistent options out there on better averages. But you're right he will be in the side next season as will Benko.
  18. I'm with you all the way mate, Kyle is the only one I'd retain as the others haven't shown enough to warrant a return or in Simota's case I just don't see him improving on an average of over 6 in the main body. As I put on the Devils site the side I want to see (money no object) would be... Robson R Worrall Newman Wells Birks Boxall Shanes I know Wells asked for silly money last season so doubt that would change and getting Boxall away from Rye on any kind of decent machinery is near enough impossible but one can only hope! All I do hope is that we go all round strength rather than big number 1 but as you say it's all about the £££!
  19. Very interesting if true HT. I like Lee and generally always offer my support when others get on his back but if it took a fan to state the glaring obvious (I know a good few of us on the back straight were expecting the TR too) then this is a bit of a hiccup!
  20. I've never been a fan of James Wright and that was even when I witnessed him win the PLRC at Swindon many moons ago. Has steadily gone backwards but that said given Roynon's form I guess we have nothing to lose. The criticism of Benko is very harsh imo. At Plymouth he was a great asset scoring big points although his away form is, I'll grant you, woeful. He has an average and is an asset so I'd like to see him back next year if possible. I love the attitude of Shanes and I'm delighted to see him getting a shot although I think given Benko's home form this may be a step back before we move forward again. Bit meh imo as doesn't really make us much stronger but not much out there sadly! Anyone know why Wright is coming out of retirement? Is his equipment going to be up to it? Is he going to be committed to Plymouth? Been on the cards for a while!
  21. Benko is likely to be fit in a couple of weeks so no point really. Also I think we would be more likely to give James Shanes a run as after all that is why we have an NL team (or at least that is the theory).
