  1. Personally I can't help thinking Godfrey's departure will be a terrible loss to Plymouth Speedway. He has very good contacts and having spoken to him myself he had a lot of good ideas for the place. I think the reasoning for the 'sacking' is pretty poor but then that's up to those concerned. I can't help thinking there is more to this but hope I'm wrong. All the best Godfrey with your future projects.
  2. Announced maybe but he hasn't actually signed! I think your promotion may be left with egg on their faces!
  3. Totally agree, to say Plymouth are as good as Somerset on the current signings and speculation at who will complete the Plymouth side is in my opinion crazy. Somerset should be top 4, Plymouth will be bottom 4 but that will do me given the last 2 seasons.
  4. Have to agree reference manzares and novratil. Always thought the latter was by far the better prospect however I'm told gino has come on leaps and bounds of late and judging by some of his recent results state side he could do ok.
  5. Two riders still to be named but it's likely to be... 1. Proctor 2. ? 3. Lemon 4. Gathercole 5. Kling 6. Kurtz 7. ? I believe the deals are close to conclusion for the other two and from what I hear VH is right on the money!
  6. Compare that to last year... Barker, Fisher, Gathercole, Holder, Kurtz - I'd say the five above aren't as good as this five even if Holder struggled. Throw in Reade who has been talked about and I'd actually say we could be weaker than last year. It would only leave 5.7 for the last rider too and unless that was a gem I can see us being towards the bottom. I hope we go for something a bit stronger myself.
  7. We shall have to wait and see, Thursday all will be revealed.
  8. When you hear about the possible side we could track and then hear the side we are likely to track you can't help but worry. I'm very surprised with these comments about Proctor, I wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole on 9.21. Doyle didn't average that last year at Somerset and he's better than Proctor. He's good but not that good and from what I've seen of him he's very inconsistent! I'd take the Fish over him every day of the week if it were possible, on a lower starting figure and likely to average more come the end of the season. I'm delighted that we have a new promotion on board and that in itself is brilliant, I just hope the team put together isn't the one I've heard mutterings of as it won't exactly set the world on fire imo.
  9. I wish, may well be an American but wont be Fisher
  10. Well I've heard of two different possible 1-7's and one is definitely weaker than what Sheffield have put together. The other one mind you now that would be decent!
  11. I don't think anyone ever thought he'd go to Plymouth it was more of a case of wishful thinking.
  12. Kyle's had a massive amount going on behind the scenes of which it wouldn't be right to splash on here over the past 18 months not to mention his injuries. If he is back to his old self and is fully committed he could easily be Stoke's number one. Great signing and I wish him and the other former Plymouth riders all the best.
  13. Cook is Edinburgh bound. Just because he doesn't like the track doesn't mean he can't ride the place, I'd welcome a retrun of the Fish. Woodward would come in on 9.28 and I'm not convinced he'd maintain that so I'd not be too happy with him. Cook would be amazing but he is off to Edinburgh I highly doubt he'd maintain his starting average so I'd rather not myself.
  14. I think all the riders came out with great credit following last years debacle. I just think Cory has found his level. He's been plugging away in the PL for sometime now and despite one stand out year at Somerset has always been around 6-7 in the PL. He'd be a steady middle order man which is never a bad thing and I would assume if he returns he'd keep the captaincy. But if Cory returns we'd need three additional heat leaders where as someone like North I believe could develop into a heat leader in his own right. Plus if we go with the number one I think we will then we will need improvement in the middle order.
  15. Quite like that! Cook would be my first choice at number one, sadly I can't see that happening though. Of the rest I can't see North coming although I'd prefer him to Gathercole as he has far more potential.
  16. Fair comment Roger, I'll agree to disagree reference Newman but certainly agree that the Somerset team of last year was better balanced than this. More to the point lets hope for some team news of our own soon.
  17. Are you sure Dave, Perry is 3.53 and they have 3.36 for their last rider or are you talking about Plymouth!? It's been a long day! lol As for the Somerset team, since it's being discussed I think their heatleader trio is excellent. It's quite right that having 3 big hitters doesn't leave a lot to play with but in the case of Somerset they have got riders who are all on the upward curve, it's no guarantee that they'll perform every week but lets not forget Newman scored a few points in the EL last season. We've had a habit of signing 'filler' riders who are on the way down and don't improve their averages. It's a bit of a risk for the Rebels with their second strings and reserves but they'll be fine at home and will do OK away. Not sure they'll be top 3 like last season mind. Yep but at least they have three heatleaders, last year we only had two! It's all about getting riders that can improve and I think Somerset's will. I'd have loved Doyle and Morris as our top 2.
  18. I think that's a long tail that the Rebels have this year. All capable of improving but not guaranteed. (didn't realise Davies had such a high average). Cracking top 3 though!
  19. If the price is right and not what the College have been talking then there is every possibility that during this lease extension the Promotion will try and buy the land but who knows.
  20. That's nothing more than rumour regarding Plymouth and I personally would doubt a fully fledged Argentine (other than Sanchez is on their way).
  21. Quite right, North and Poole are still very talented young riders on reasonable averages, that said I don't see either at Plymouth next year (unless they are riding against us).
  22. As much as I like Cory I thought he had a poor year last season and wouldn't be too gutted if he moved on. I'm not saying I don't want him back but I'd be hoping for improvement from him especially away from home.
  23. Well then it's Somerset or Plymouth if rumours are to be true. I'm with Lewy, this one has Somerset written all over it but like him I'd love to be wrong!
