Swindon V Belle Vue. 06/04/17.
Aces51 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Too early yet to judge any form but I think overall we are stronger and I'm hoping for an away win. -
I couldn't find any that would represent that this is a totally honest and justified assessment presented without even a hint of bias. So that's why she was invited to the recent Poole soiree. You have wasted your time. She's a woman of independent thought, sound judgement and will not be tempted by such obvious attempts to influence her decisions ........... I think.

Wednesday will be our first meeting and our reserves are going to need more time to show their undoubted potential. I can see Poole winning by 10+ at home. It will be closer at the NSS, KK, Andersen and Kurt will do well there and it could suit Holder and Shanes. Klindt will no doubt pop out of the gate first in at least a couple of rides and could be good for a decent score. However, I think the Aces 1-5 will outscore their 1-5 and do enough for a home win. Overall it will be a shock if Poole don't win on aggregate. Later in the season it will be a different tale.

Has Chapman put on weight, calling him Busty seems a bit unkind. 😂 Belle Vue, who have had much less time to get organised, published their season ticket details on the 16th March.

It looks as if they have cycle speedway in Japan. https://vimeo.com/92584105

At Belle Vue children under 12 are free in the standing terrace but it is expensive once your children are older. However, the prices are no more expensive than many other tracks. Those who find it difficult to afford can consider watching the Colts. Adults £10 and under 18's free. Last year the NL racing was excellent and that is probably a good way to introduce youngsters to the sport with many riders of an age to which they can relate.

According to the fixtures on the official Belle Vue website theRe is no fixture on the 3rd May. The home meetings against Kings Lynn are in June and September.

Without Chris Morton and David Gordon the club would have closed some time ago because the dog track wasn't sustainable. It was their vision, skill and hard work over many years that brought about the building of the NSS. Without that prospect nobody would have carried on sustaining the losses. Take whatever view you will but I think everybody can see that, at the very least, not all of the problems last year can be laid at their doorstep. In fact it is becoming clearer that the root cause of the monetary problems, the cancellation of the opening meeting, was caused by matters over which they had no control. On that topic the damming press made by the Chairman of the BSPA certainly didn't help the reputation of the club or its ability to survive. The silence from the same source over the Poole fiasco is very telling. I would have thought the ability to be even handed and impartial was a prerequisite of the job. Still on the topic of impartiality, there are rumours that Robert Lambert might get one of the two British places in the GP challenge with King getting the other. Cook has a much stronger claim than Lambert. He has a higher average and finished higher in the British Final, he is at the moment the better rider and should get one of the places. Time will tell if the rumour is true.

I can't imagine Belle Vue supporters approving of any such meeting if it did not benefit Alan Wilkinson.

Chris has been involved with the Aces for much of his life either as a fan, a rider or, a promoter. Philip Rising has previously explained that Chris very much wants to continue to be involved and so is unlikely to be making public statements.I would guess that he also has to consider anything he might say in the context of the threatened legal proceedings. The new promotion were very complimentary about the help he has given them and the concensus of opinion of those fans I speak to is that they would like to see him have a future role with the club. The whole truth may come out one day but I don't want or need Chris to have to make some sort of public apology. His commitment to the club is beyond doubt and I am sure that he would not have deliberately done anything to harm it. That is good enough for me.
-
Stoke Potter, I hope you can appreciate that the new promotion have been in place for only 5 weeks and have had many issues to sort out to get the stadium and teams ready for the new season in that short period of time. The new promotion did not have to honour the outstanding tickets for the Peter Craven meeting but have decided to do so. The contact email addresses for everyone at Belle Vue are on the website. I do not know which address you sent your email to or when you sent it but I would suggest you send another email to the CEO, Adrian Smith. I know that people have been getting replies but that some have not. The ticket office was opened last weekend specifically for people to exchange their tickets and that was advertised on the official website but I can understand that may not have been helpful to you. I hope you are able to get it sorted out.

At least Belle Vue had the excuse of not knowing about the problems with the track base. I understand that Chapman was in the process of drafting a press release condemning the promotion for this disaster, explaining that it was entirely their fault, nothing at all to do with the BSPA and that he is launching an immediate investigation. That was untill he realised he had misheard, he thought someone said it was a meeting at Belle Vue. 😂 Silence will speak volumes.

I'm not sure what Speedway Star can do to help. They post them and then it's beyond their control. When notified of late or none delivery they can complain but realistically cannot force Royal Mail to do anything about it. My experience over many years is that about 90% of the time it is delivered on a Thursday, 9% on a Friday and 1%, about once every couple of years, it is delivered on the following Monday or Tuesday or, not delivered at all. A call to the magazine has always been dealt with politely and efficiently and a new copy has been delivered to me, usually the next day.

With all the things needing to be organised in the short time since they took over I doubt they've had time yet to be thinking of sponsors. Mark Lemon has said there just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment. This is a steep learning curve for the new owners and CEO. I should think they will want to ensure that everything is running smoothly before they start trying to get sponsors interested. At least we've got Rentruck and Coolrunning, presumably as the team sponsors.

You'll be telling us next that you've not heard of "as long as a piece of spring"

I think Grand Central was being facetious. The latest article by Philip Rising in the SS is in response to the report submitted to MCC and quotes what David Gordon told the Manchester Evening News. However, he wants time to digest the 16 page council report before making a detailed response. The article comments on some of the details of the MCC report, which is published in full in Speedway Xtra for those who have not read it on the Council website.

I agree with Ford's stand. However, it is much easier to do it with a rider like Jack Holder, who may not even get a ride in Poland and who is likely, at this point in his career, to earn far more in the UK, than it would be, for example, with Chris Holder, who is likely to ride fir his team in every Polish fixture and earn considerably more there. Again, at the moment, Chris is a much bigger draw card here than Jack and much more difficult to replace. If we are going to make a stand I think we should have agreed it before team building began and not signed riders who were going to be affected by the Polish restriction nor any Polish riders.
-
How many rides is Jack Holder likely to get in Poland?

If you truly want consistency the the only way it can be achieved is by a proper interpretation and application of the rules. Obviously the intent is that, when applicable, MA's should be calculated in accordance with 16.2.3,then published. If a mistake is made on the published list consistency is achieved by correcting the list not by identifying a mistake but doing nothing to put it right.
-
Sounds like Matt Ford is working hard to persuade his cohorts that 16.2.3 doesn't apply to team building figures. Fear is always a good motivator. 😓
-
Because Mr.Rossiter decided that Bellego is a better option. Either a stroke of genius or madness. Time will tell but I know where my money is.
-
Using the above formula Belle Vue is 23.89 metres/second.

You paid more to sit in the home straight stand at Hyde Road, you didn't pay extra at the dog track and now we pay more to sit in the grandstand at the NSS. We couldn't afford the extra at Hyde Road but fortunately I can now at the NSS and I am more than happy to pay it for the facilities and quality of racing on offer. The exception at Hyde Road was when the second division was formed and you could sit by the starting gate without paying more. Funnily enough, they now only open the grandstand at the NSS for national league meetings so no extra charge and what excellent value they are. £10, £8 for concessions and under 18's free. I really hope that work does soon start at Swindon and that you get a brilliant race track.
