Newport Vs Scunthorpe/sheffield 29/10/11 6pm
scunny1 replied to Fozzie4388's topic in National League Speedway
So my comments are all wrong ,don't think so. Irving Injured, Worrals flying off to Aus, Birks unavailable so not much of a team left and title all ready won. No will not be at this one, but was at Mildenhall last week ,have seen all the Scorpion and Saints home meetings this season plus several away as well. Have watched lots of the amateur meetings during the winter and will do again this winter, weather permitting. So all in all I have served my club well throughout the year and am entitled to say we have put out a weak side for a none event- which even our promotion is saying is a training/learning event for some riders not used to this level. Would be interested to know what the attendance was for an end of season match with no points to really fight for. To all the riders taking part well done, as a competitive match you decide. -

According to Scunthorpe website it is Rider Replacement for number 1 not Ash. Meeting looks more like a youngsters challenge match and bit of a damp squib to end on. -
Just got back after a 320mile round trip. After engine failures and 3 falls when in point scoring positions I thought we had blown our chances. Our luck was out,Ref was questionable and Ash was trying his damdest to burst the same airbag on bend two. But then, we got it together in the last few heats to need a 5-1 to give Scunfield the title in heat 15. What a nail biter with Richie holding off the ever charging Cameron Heeps for 4 laps- a magnificent end to a great meeting. A fine advert for speedway- Think my daughter summed the meeting up after a 2 and a half hour drive back, when she said " Dad i'm still buzzing!!!!"

Anybody recommend best route to Mildenhall from N Lincs? Last time I went to West Row went round Mildenhall 3 times trying to find stadium, amazing how many locals had never heard of the place.

No way can/should /would the Sheffield and Scunthorpe promotions shut down the National League team. What a great meeting, not just the winning but the racing and determination of all the youngsters involved. This is the breeding ground for the future Brits and must continue. Rob, David and Neil must see the sense and passion in the running of this league and long may Scunfield, Saints, Prowlers or what ever you want to call 'em continue.

Should be usual National League price on Friday at Scunny- Adults £10 up to 16 years £4, young uns free. Parking £1 programme £1. Not sure of price at West Row but probably much the same?

Typical its not rained 2 miles from the track since 12.30- probably drying nicely now. -
There was a J'Lo collection bucket at the programme/raffle ticket stand as well as someone going round with a bucket amongst the crowd at Scunny tonight. There will also be another collection for John on Sunday at the Scorpion fixture.

I go to Sheffield to watch the Scunthorpe Saints, not the Prowlers, just what is the Sheffield contribution certainly not the riders???
-
Was that your post that said something about you hardly being a SAW loser- think youve lost some screws as well.
-
Oh dear me such bad losers. No I was not there due to a rather expensive GP stay over just up the road from Newport only a week before, however, the only sensible comment is from the neutral supporter anything else has a biased leaning in favour of the home team. Richard is a speedway unsung hero and can be seen encouraging youngsters ,oldies, amateurs and professionals throughout the winter months. It is people like him who keep the grass roots of our beloved sport alive, so that the kids of today can be the stars of tomorrow. Give the man a break and get off his back he was sticking up for his team as a manager should.

Will the Scunthorpe faithful go over to Sheffield? Well 2 of us are at least

Who's Flattering To Deceive And Who Is Lying In Wait
scunny1 replied to manchesterpaul's topic in National League Speedway
As Scunny/Sheff have so many riders doubling up with Premier teams, it is not very often the strongest line up is available, or they would be higher up the league in my opinion. -
Spinny you can have Hackney,Isle of Wight, Newport and Kings Lynn
-
Jotun paints manufacturing plant is about 8 windmill lengths from the EWR as the crow flies.
-
Can we get it right it is a Scunthorpe/Sheffield team first and foremost, not a Sheffield/Scunthorpe team.
-
What has Hull got to do with it? It seems to me a regular supporter, that about 10 Hull fans bother to cross the bridge to watch the best racing in the country. If they want an identity let them set up a club in and around Hull (maybe Fozzie (superstar1 ) might bother to attend )Saints at the EWR, Prowlers, Cubs etc at Owlerton. Keeps both sets of fans happy supporting their own team ,even if that team is Scunthorpe Saints in disguise. Sheffield gain 4 extra meetings to fill their race day calendar, not convinced Scunny fans have gained anything but Rob, Neil and David know best- err maybe!!!

Scunthorpe V Newport Nl 10th Sept 7.30pm

Weather is currently cloudy with a strong drying wind with odd glimpses of the sun. Showers are forecast late evening so Ref should be pushing the meeting along quickly. The track is very quick to dry out and can stand a heavy downpour so get yourself here.
