Young Austalian On A 3 Point Average
scunny1 replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I, like Tai, was born in Scunthorpe, does that make me an Aussie? His Father and Mother were born here, his Father died here and his Mother still lives on the outskirts of Scunthorpe-give it a rest folks we have a World Champion and he is British and a Scunthonian. -
"Meeting had a nice, end-of-season feel to it." Where you been at the end of seasons then? Not dark, not wet not cold and no fancy dress Halloween or Fireworks. Did not feel end of season at all to me, more like robbed of at least a months Friday night speedway. Oh well Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Corrie for next 6 months....zzzzz.

Were the Scorpions exceptionally good, were the Tigers poor ?-have to say a bit of both. All the Scorpions seemed determined to go for the points, from the front, from the back, inside line ,around the boards- just so much more effort. Apart from the Tigers guests ,Sheffield were very poor. Did not enjoy watching Compton being destroyed by the Scorpions, from a man who has taken so many points from us in the past perhaps retirement looms again? A poor ending to Mr Machin's last match,I feel for him.

Read it again ,it never mentions keeping all 5. As for reserves, 1 was a gamble that has taken all season to come half good and other NL reserve was never good enough for PL level. -

David Howe has been under performing all season and his heart never looked in it. Its a pity, but I would have done my damdest to keep Nick Morris at the end of last season and let DH go instead, however the damage is done and season virtually over now... -

Echo all these comments, I have seen the jeers and cheers all over the country when the opposition falls, not really malice more the other teams good fortune. Its not right but it happens. Hope Ricky makes a full recovery and is back to entertain all speedway fans in the non too distant future. -

Rob thinks we will be in top 6 also, but the realist in me says both teams are too far adrift to make the playoffs -

Not good enough from our number 5, he is going backwards this year. -
Ok back to the match. For the Scorpions some superlatives to talk about- Thomas back from injury with a paid max- well done we have missed you. Ash, another paid max and untroubled by the Tigers- Give this man the Captain's job!!! Michael, back to what we know he can do. Josh, carrying an injury from Wednesday? Another excellent display from our number one. Lewis , gave up family commitments to compete and massive contribution. Ryan, at last looked a racer capable of mixing it,never have I heard so much cheering for a superb second place holding back Richard Hall's Tac Ride! David, the enigma? Not sure his heart is in it this year, injuries, crashes into team mates- my jury is still out . Tigers. It is clear they have serious team issues Steady and Wells were made to look pretty average. Hall and Haines who have done thousands of laps around the EWR looked dismal. Both reserves look like a spell in the National League would do them good as presently not up to it. Albin, does he actually get any Sheffield support? The lack of response to finding him a bike to ride when his packed up was a disgrace. Rob even told you all on the mic to get him a bike for God's sake. A massive shake up required, starting with Team Manager and two or three rider changes. Maybe the Scorps were just so good on the night? Maybe the Tigers were so very poor on the night? Or just maybe the Scorpions have finally looked like League Champions and worked for each other, where as the Tigers need some strong words and team ethics.

Well done Bears on a solid win. Now onto the Scorpions. Thanks to Mr Doolan for being a worthy Guest. Well done Ash and Josh for keeping the fixture alive. Michael what is going wrong ,bikes seem to be a problem and need sorting fast. Lewis and Ryan not scoring enough points-tough on Lewis when he had to bail out when Wilko locked up right infront of him and looked like he was falling off. Ryan had 1 good race ,but seems loath to mix it and get amongst the opposition. We expect every Aussie to be ace but this one is just not doing it. I feel Rob Godfrey's pain from a man who is passionate about his team. How many other promotors spend hours working at the track, grade the track during matches, commentate during races, interview riders etc ??? Stick in there Rob (and Gail of course-Rob needs a cuddle tonight!!! ) the faithful know the rule book is a joke and Speedway Top Management break their own rules when they feel like it. We too, feel like we have been shafted by the BSPA, and home and away fans are let down by a system that should promote inclusion of riders to balance up a team for better entertainment. I do not mind being beaten by a strong team performing well, but when we are denied legitimate efforts to strengthen our team it is a bitter pill to swallow knowing we could have been so much more competitive. Injuries so far have ruined our season, no way will we catch up to even playoffs using RR and no strong reserves. It is clear we need to regroup lick our wounds and carry on. The team gels better when Ash is captain. David Howe is a good rider and loads of knowledge but Ashley is a born leader of a team and motivator wheras David( to me,looking from the outside at home and away matches) gets in his own zone and is not such a team player. We need changes, the promotion seem to be baulked by BSPA at every turn and the fans and management are duly frustrated because we have been spoilt by winning so much last season. Onwards with plan " c " it can only get better from now.

Redcar V Scunthorpe - Ko Cup 13/6/13
scunny1 replied to northyorksbear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Injuries continue to wreck our season. The only positives Josh and Ash showing some form and Michael improving. Local weather tomorrow looks pretty poor and can see my speedway fix being rained off -
In my humble opinion a home side should not be allowed a TR.If they are so far behind at home, they don't deserve an inflated chance to catch up and drastically affect a match.
