  1. Complete lack of respect for all fans and sponsors who have travelled to support him. Great to watch but he really needs reinging in if he is to fulfill his potential. Needs a sharp expensive shock.
  2. Sorry to hear that, will always be welcome in Workington.
  3. Paul, next time your down call into Station Rd Club or The Railway club if its open. Railway Club is just outside the ground about two mins on your right below the railway station, station rd club is left after the railway club and on your right hand side. Better and cheaper beer than spoons and only a five min walk to track!!
  4. Only 3 Wins for the home side, doubt if we will see that again this season- (Was Hoggy in the Scunny Pits lol)
  5. I agree that there were great riders in the past, I loved watching PC, and have some great ,memories from that time, however time and the sport has moved on and going on about old riders is not going to attract new supporters. I agree that many shy away from controversy but is it not the sport to blame with its newly brought in penalties for bad behaviour. I had lots of non speedway fans saying about the scrap beetween Nicholls and Emil. Maybe the sport should allow the ref;s some leeway at times, after all it is a high adrenalin sport. The fans used to love a shout at a rider kicking off on the centre green and it all added to the atmosphere. I'm sure there are lots of riders out there who would love to wind the crowd up, but are not allowed to do so because of the penalty they may incurr. Watching the new motor racing film RUSH about Nikki Lauda & James Hunt brought home how far things had moved on, and how cosseted and clinical todays drivers are. It's the car that win's the championship not the driver. I think with speedway now the riders are going so fast its extremely difficult to pass and the skills of the rider are lost along with the entertainment.
  6. Most of this thread just confirms the older fan base speedway has, most are living in the past! Current entertaining riders Pedersen and one of the best I've ever seen on a bike Mr Gollob along with Ward, all would get me parting with my money.
  7. Why not make a day off it, leave early, turn off the M6 at junction 36 for Kendal, Head into the Lakes and drive through the mountains to Keswick, take her for a cruise round the lake on one of the boats and them onto the Speedway. Sure she will have an unforgettable day.
  8. Uk Woffy and Cookie would have been in amongst the points. Agree with others UK should be involved, why aren't they?
  9. Still fine over here, 1/2 a mile from the track,it's looking good for tonight!
  10. For all you diamonds wanting to watch your team get a spanking , the weathers good so far with little chance of rain. !
  11. Thanks all. Will update on the weather sat as only 1/2 a mile from track.
  12. Anyone know the riding order for both teams Sat & Sun? Should be a good opening meeting with both teams looking strong.
  13. Just wondering what the average speedway bike weighs when in full race trim including fuel, anybody know?
  14. Loved the Class of 94 article this week, os this going to be a feature for all the tracks. I'ts interesting seeing what riders have done with their lives after racing. Keep up the good work.
  15. Anybody know what Wolberts Home and Away Averages were from last time he rode in the Premier Leauge?
  16. Brilliant team- every rider has the potential to improve their starting average and thats what wins trophies, however I believe our match winner will be pur eighth signing- Steve Lawson- As advisor on track set up ane engine set ups, lines to ride etc, he will bring so much experience to the team. Really can't wait to see this team in action. COULD THIS BE THE YEAR!!!!
  17. My thoughts: No GP riders in a so called Elite League,Therefore becomining last years PL , possibly a weakened Premier League maybe having to use 3 NL riders per team doubling up.National League as it is with maybe the addition of a few of the struggling PL teams! A weaker ( less expensive ) product all round.
  18. If every promoter ran his club like Matt Ford the sport wouldn't be in the position it's in. He promotes and fills his stadium -fact- and I'm not a Poole fan
  19. Great News, Will it be possible to purchase previous years to keep on hard drive, would free me lots of space lol!!
  20. 650 mile round trip Somerset should refund your fuel bill. As in most cases it's the supporters that suffer, costly fuel, possibly a wasted days holiday for the longer trips, all the slagging of you get from non speedway fans who cannot understand why a meeting would be called off on such a beautiful day. And Promoters wonder why fans don't travel away in No's anymore!! Wake up and smell the bacon!!!
  21. Yes the last thing the sport needs is tracks closing, because of planning constraints etc, there would be very little chance of them opening again and that would just be another nail in the coffin.
  22. Absolutely correct in my opinion, the top riders have far to much at stake financially to give 100% effort in the EL, I can't comment on their desire to race in league meetings abroad because I haven't seen it. How many times do we see them just sitting in position (Ulamek immediately springs to mind) and following each other round, it's just another pay cheque to the majority of them, why risk injury and race in a league meeting, certainly in the EL they are almost certainly guaranteed 2 points because of the diluted team strengths. It's had a negative effect on the sport because the racing is pretty tame. Same riders in a GP round are prepared to knock lumps out of each other and race, thats certainly missing in League meetings. I think they only have themselves to blame should SKY decide to spread their wings to both leagues. PL racing has been more exciting because the guys are riding for their income, no huge wages to fall back on from Poland. People watch the sport for the racing not to see big names half a lap in front and the others following each other round. Let's face it take out the top seven averaged riders in the EL and the rest are PL heatleaders so the product for SKY wouldn't be much different than they have now. In fact it may play into there hands because Tatum & Pearson would not have to mention the GP's now that SKY aren't showing them. It's been interesting listening to commentary that the GP's are rarely mentioned now. I would not like to lose TV matches because of the credibility it gives to the sport, should it be lost next year then I very much doubt it would ever return and that would be a major nail in the coffin.
