Hopefully Cook gets atleast one ride. I wonder what odds i will get for him to score atleast 1 point considering how unlikely a number 18 ride is. -
Congratulations Team Denmark

Wendy get a grip of yourself. The Danes hadnt used a single Joker or substitute in the whole World Cup competition, so why should they risk losing to a flawed and embarrassing doublr point rule in the closing stages. They didnt cheat they simply stopped Australia using a joker for a heat. Dont forget Watt also slowed in his heat to stop himself from passing the Dane, does that mean the Aussies cheated too? Get rid of daft double point rules and there will be no need to try and counter it. EDIT Congrats Denmark and thanks for the 8/1 World Cup win payout i got from your success. -

Bomo what exactly are you trying to prove with that statement? Phlipphlop i didnt realise i had to be a unionist to follow a sport. Im also a member of the monarchs forum is that in some way hypocrital too? Considering i follow the sport as a whole then this forum is naturally the place to come for discussions. Shame you unionist mob feel you somehow have a strangled hold over everything. Just on a side note the web address is actually speedway-forum. Kind of puts your argument to bed. -

Iris your allowing the numpties to drag you off topic. My original reply wasnt actually to do with who calls where, what. That is others pulling the conversation off on that route. -

We could all pick out a few names that go against the trend in all walks of life not just speedway. But in the end it will ultimately come down to numbers, money and facilities. I didnt say the riders called the team england, i was meaning people on the forum. But while we are touching on the subject it is only recently that the english riders have stopped calling GB, England Tai was one of the worst for it. Apologies for not having names on my replies but in on my mobile and cant go and look at names while typing. -

Yeah we know that its all English guys, trust me enough people keep mentioning that. But the thing is its very unlikely that there will ever be a Scot in team GB. Not because we are not capable of racing bikes but because we have less facilities even than the English, but also we have a smaller population to recruit new riders from. Have you ever stopped to look at the English riders in the team over the years and looked at the regions they come from? You will see that the majority of riders come from the south of England. Again this isnt because they cant ride bikes in the north its simply because there are less tracks, less facilities and less people. -

Even is the National Stadium at Belle Vue is used to its full potential its only one tiny brick in a huge structure that needs to be rebuilt. One track open for practice in Manchester is going to leave too many young lads too far away to get any kind of regular practice in. England due to its population and landmass needs atleast 4 large training venues from the south coast upto North Yorkshire (ish) That is why i say that Scotland needs a training academy that can be shared between Edinburgh, Glasgow and Berwick. But with things as they are this will never happen and England or GB (whichever you prefer) will continue to decline. Is speedway really such an unsponsorable sport or is that what promotors want us to believe? I mean Poland manages to bring in big sponsorship as does Denmark and Sweden. Id say there are some big money companies that would be happy to have their name tied to speedway in the UK but the fact that it is run like a kids playground "gang" means they look elsewhere to spend said money. Wackie, movement at the tapes affects other riders not just English. Also its a clutching at straws to say they would have won if not for that. Also the Holder/Harris decision was called correctly so you cant say that cost you anything. The King/Smolinski move was also called correctly, yet as i say you will clutch at straws to try and convince yourself you are good enough to have won. If they were buying into the "British" side of it i dare say they would have been there in huge numbers whether a Scot was in it or not. What you seem to forget is that whether you agree with GB/UK or not you have to go through its structure and competitions to get anywhere in the sport. For example if Andy Tully wanted to get into the GPs he would likely have to win the British Final and would race as a Brit. Whether he agreed with that or not. Playing by the rules doesnt mean you agree with or buy into something. -

Wackie please explain exactly what refereeing decisions cost England lastnight. As for the Kenny McKinna comment, I wonder if that was more to do with it being a Scot as opposed to a "British" event. -

Stevebrum i dare say its the same reason why England are lagging behind other countries their size. The lack of facilities. Also the fact we have three (some will say two) teams doesnt help. Speedway is declining and it will affect the more remote clubs first. Just like rugby where Scotland has two professional clubs we struggle on the world stage. But thankfully the rugby issue is being remedied. What we need now is a new home for Monarchs, a training academy for Edinburgh, Glasgow and Berwick and another 1-2 PL teams. Plus an independent national team to give youngsters something to be proud of and aim for. England wont be a force on the a world stage either until money starts going into training instead of promoters bank accounts. -

Jacques your just a do good, bleeding heart. You wouldnt know the meaning of bigot if it jumped up and slapped you in the face (what a lovely image) as i say just because i dont support what others support doesnt make me any less entitled to an opinion. As to the other eejit, cant be bothered to mind his/her name. Why would i go to Denmark to watch speedway when i pay my Sky subscription to watch it at home? Thats just a ridiculously silly thing to say. I didnt realise that living in Scotland means i HAVE to support England. Deary me, the English are so narrow minded. Maybe its time you realised you aint as great as you make out and not everyone is willing to buy into the team GB nonesense. -

Oh its not that i dont like watching it. I just hate they way they go on as they do year after year. The same bias yelling, the inane ranting, the constant talk of "Team England" while at the same time no other nation within the UK is allowed a team. I actually love the World Cup i just wish they would broadcast it professionally and remember that not everyone is behind England. -

Dave, are you saying that anyone who doesnt support England isnt allowed to be a speedway fan? Home straight, nice google skills but way off topic. Maybe next time come up with something relevant. I see this place doesnt change, you cant speak your mind if it goes against the masses. Rather sad really. -

Is that because its the only way "Team England" are going to make a final Because lets face it the Aussies hardly stepped out of second gear lastnight and still GB couldnt beat them. They even needed a pathetic joke of a rule to put their highest scorer in with the lowest scorers for double points just to make it look more respectable. The Czechs rode very well and if Pepe had performed better and Kus hadnt touched the tapes Engerland could well have been third. But hey it happened just like England failed to make the Final AGAIN. So off to the race off for more bias, annoying, repetative commentary. Also what was with the outdated imperialistic music at the breaks. Mind you either i was learning to drown them out or they got less and less along with GBs hopes of a win. If Ward had been fit even a Joker and a Sub wouldnt have kept England close. Come on the Danes! -
The "Joker" should be scrapped as should TRs in the leagues. If you aint good enough to win on your own merit then so be it. Atleast last night in event 2 all four teams were able to use their respective Jokers, this made it a fairer meeting. I feel that if they are going to keep a double point rule, every team should have one at the start of the meeting and can use it once whenever they wish. While we are talking of mickey mouse rules, what about GB lastnight being able to put their highest scorer in the lowest scorers place AND on double points. Only to then be able to come out and take his own ride in the highest scoring heat too. THAT is a complete joke® heat 16 should be the cut off for any substitution or double points.
-
No wonder new fans are hard to come by and old fans are walking away. Its a train wreck of a rule that doesnt really give a true reflection of anything meaningful. How can you take for example 13 2010 meetings and 13 2011 meetings and claim that gives you a fair avg for 2012. Yet again this shows the BSPA is out dated and out of touch. They are in it for the good of their own clubs not the sport as a whole. Its abit more proof that we need an independent body free of club influence to govern the sport.

Ok must have just been coincidence. Just i dont pay overly much attention to which wildcards are in each GP and their nationality. Just seemed that anytime i did conciously look at the two they were always of the nationality of the GP -

Just out of interest, lets just say this did happen would that not mean that Byron Bekker would have to be the Wildcard as South Africas number 1 rider?
