Did you see the size of the gap that nicki actually went for? As Spook said Gollob made a mistake and tried getting back down onto the line but Nicki had already moved into the gap left for him. -

Maybe he should have, but he never and therefore should not have done what he did. -

Weak referee? Tony Steele is regarded as the best in the World by many riders, fans and officials so dont be so silly. What Gollob did cannot be excused for what happened during racing. He should be banned and fined. -

Why are people bringing Nicki into this? Nicki was racing and can only go with the decision a referee gives. Gollob however decided to stop the bike get off it and walk away leaving on the track. How do the two compare in anyway whatsoever? -

Please tell me you aint referring to the coming togethers in the heat in question. Nicki was racing what Gollob done was a pure disgrace. -

I would give him alot more than 1 meeting ban. There is absolutely no need for that sort of behaviour. One of the three remaining riders could have been seriously injured due to that. -

Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks for that Humphrey you have summed up perfectly the mentality in the British Leagues. Blame everything you can before actually looking for ways around it. You blamed the weather, the road system, the number of meetings, the stadium rental system. Just about everything you could possibly conjure up, yet after all that blaming the sport is still where it was before it. So yet again alot of hot air and nothing done to fix the fixture clashes. Lets take Edinburgh and Glasgow for instance. 4 meetings a season between the two clubs for nothing more than a challenge exhibition. That could be 4 league meetings. Or half of our PT qualifiers. We dont need a Spring Trophy and a Scottish Cup. I cant think of a single club that doesnt have some form of micky mouse trophy taking up space in a season. That could infact be used to stage more meetings. Meaning more space in the calendar to work around FIM meetings and the like. EDIT Just like to point out that this was not a personal attack on you Humphrey. More a generalised observation of how the BSPA and British Speedway as a whole is run -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sorry but i cant agree with you here. If anyone is killing off speedway in the UK its the BSPA and the promotions. Every other league manages to run meetings on one race night and keep it away from GP fixtures and World Cup fixtures etc. We seem to be the only ones who spread racing over a whole 7day period and complain about everyone else but ourselves when we have riders missing due to a certain competition. Maybe if the BSPA etc got together and agreed to make a season work using only 2 maybe even 3 nights we wouldnt have to use R/R as much and wouldnt have riders missing for FIM meetings all over the place. -

I think you're being a little harsh on Iris. This is Denmark or Poland we are talking about. There isnt an endless sea of talent. When it comes to picking a "Brit" to ride at the GP level you dont really have much choice. 3-4 guys max therefore you are bound to start seeing the same names etc. Also as mentioned Lee is proving he can score at the top with his continental form. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I cannot believe people are mentioning Tai and Emil in the same sentence. They are miles apart in ability. Ok the law of averages mean that Tai will beat the top boys at some point or other as he faces them so regularly in league meetings. But on a consistancy level over a whole GP series Tai's inexperience will leave him close to the bottom for all to see. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That could well be one reason that the "Brits" have been left wanting recently. if, as you say they actually had to earn their places they may well step up their game and be competitive in the series. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Because Iris its common practice now that if i say anything remotely negative about an English rider im accused of being bias and anti Englsih etc. The only English rider to start a GP next year should be the wild card at Cardiff. Just my opinion. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
At the risk of being called anti English etc, there is not one English rider that is good enough to be in the GP series. So why not gain more fans by actually showing riders that will challenge for the positions rather than ones that will prop up the rest. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would rather see someone earn their place through riding than have it handed to them due to their birth place. I will more than happily watch Zorro in the GPs as he earned his place there. Unlike others who appear in the series year in year out. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well i also would turn up at Cardiff regardless of the 16 riders nationality. Aslong as they are regarded as the 16 best in the world. Which even now we aint getting. -

Ok heres a question. Would a lack of "Brits" stop you going to Cardiff or tuning in for a GP on Sky? -

What does a F1 drivers nationality have to do with anything? -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Snyper1010 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Its a complete farce that someone can be slipped into the biggest event in speedway just because of where they was born. Just another reason why the sport gets laughed at. Yes i agree that the Danish GP should have a Danish Wilcard and the British GP etc etc etc. But for someone to have a place in the series as a whole just because of their nationality is rediculous. -
Im glad we finally agree Ian. Going off topic a little here do you (everyone as a whole) think that the GP series makes somone less of a champion than a on the night winner of a world final? Giving that the pressure as mentioned is reduced due to it being a season long event and not a one off. I hope im getting my point across here. Do you think Nikki P would be 3 times World Champ under the old system, or do you think that he would have allowed his hot temper ruin a one of final?
