Looking forward to this return fixture against the Bears we’ve done so well to limit the damage last night hoping we can pull off an aggregate win, should be a good afternoon racing. -

Redcar Bears v Workington Comets 2nd August 2024

Well done to Redcar on the win however I’ll take our 10 point defeat all considered! Some very close racing tonight with the dirt like right on the air fence towards the end of the meeting making for brave moves. Jenkins certainly done his job as a guest and Ace although wasn’t in the big points wasn’t disgraced even against that level of opposition. Man of the meeting was Troy Batchelor he’s been superb for us all year and tonight he rolled back the years looked great on the bike. My only criticism of Redcar wasn’t the meeting itself it’s a few of their supporters who stand on the home straight stand who now always seem to have a little cry and a sulk (happened on our last few visits now) because we put our Comets flag/banners up, relax we pay to get in and spend money on food bar etc if your that offended cheer louder… We took a beating by Poole who made plenty of noise and had flags etc up it’s nothing to get upset about personally I like to see away support when track visit Workington adds to the atmosphere. So next time don’t get so uptight I can guarantee everyone who stood there is friendly and up for a crack . Well done on your win, here’s to tomorrow! -
Glasgow v Workington - league - 3 May @ 7.30pm

Totally agree takes 2 sets of fans in my book to create an atmosphere. I’m currently sat having a beer waiting for the bus. We have a 50 seater coming your way and plenty in cars so here’s to a cracker night of Speedway and a comets win. Like you say it’s like the old days and that’s only a good thing . See you for a pint Paul! -
Redcar v Workington, 12/ 4/2024 :- BSN Series.

What a night! After some bad luck in the first heat it looked like we were in for a long night but the Comets dug deep and really impressed especially with limited experience around the STMP. Great to have plenty of supporters making lots of noise! -

Can’t wait for this one tomorrow! Big support for our lads and lass ! -
Checked Apple weather and BBC and I think we will be fine. Regarding the meeting it’s going to be a close one Scunthorpe have a decent team with some out and out racers in there. I’m looking forward to our guys getting another meeting to get used to our track and set ups etc hopefully the positives from last weeks meeting continue and we can pull off a win!

I only care when he wears blue and white and so far for me not done that and has had a positive start. -

After seeing Troy ride for us in the openings 2 meetings I can only judge him from what I’ve seen while in the Comets colours and in my opinion he’s not given up he’s given it a go and so far I’m happy with him. 8+2 away 7 at home I’ve seen a lot of worse scores so far from a lot “better” riders ….. so keep an eye on them in fact get them sacked!!! Keep it up Troy and welcome to Workington! -

Scunthorpe Scorpions V Workington Comets 29/3/24

Agree this isn’t to damn our sport but it’s pointing out the obvious which need addressing, how can a club that has a promoter in such a position operate that way! ? No miles or loss of money will ever stop me attending speedway and I’m fully aware this isn’t the norm! Let’s get things run like a professional sport and do better then this ! -

I’m more annoyed what it does to the “general “ speedway fans it looks horrendous and like I said although it’s disappointing surely communication with the fans will help a bad situation. He’s my gun shot my foot ! -

Right here we go here are the unfortunate facts Yes I’m a travelling Workington fan but don’t let this distract you from the fact that this was a horrendous advert for speedway! We need people to want to come back and although I appreciate we have no control over the weather but we do have control over announcements and keeping the fans updated … nobody had a clue what was going on unless the speaker system was gone people on the first bend had no idea what was happening. All appeared very unprofessional and especially as the promoter is part of the bspa we need to do better someone come on the centre and announce what’s going on! On a side note respect to the track staff for the work draining the standing water they did do a good job, my only issue is newbies won’t want to return and you can’t survive on idiots like me. Onto the next one! Up the Comets!! -

The Border Trophy battle returns, should be a good atmosphere over both legs for this one! Come on the Comets! -
BSN Series 17:30 start Here we go we’re back! Myself and probably most other Comets fans will be more excited than most now we’re back in the Championship. Should be plenty of Blue and White down to make some noise, a new team full of experience, youth and untested riders. After a successful weekend of practice our guys are looking ready. I can’t wait for this! SCORPIONS Kyle Howarth Simon Lambert Michael Palm Toft Connor Mountain Jake Allen Nathan Ablitt Luke Harrison COMETS Craig Cook Claus Vissing Tate ZISCHKE Antti Voulas Troy Batchelor Celina LIEBMANN Sam Mcgurk Give us a C !!!!!!!
-
I hope not …. We probably shouldn’t of gone up this year imo but here we are and we’ve done an amazing job in such a short time
-
A few have already mentioned on here about Tate and Celina being down the track a lot since their arrival but also nice to see them chipping in and helping out on jobs around the place, great for them to build a relationship too. I’ve met both of them and although we’ve yet to see them on track I can say they will be great with the supporters. Anyway today is the day down to the serious stuff, hope to see at few at the Waverley for a pint too !
-
Encouraging from Celina great experience being on track and in the pits with some of the worlds best. countdown is on now can’t wait for our first meeting away at Scunny!
-
Welcome to Workington Troy! Good for the team to have some experience in there and Troy has plenty of it as with Cookie. So we now have 2 former GP riders. In response to the negative stuff about batch that’s in the past he’s a Comet now and I’m sure he will get the backing of the fans. Only one more rider to go I can’t wait to see the new team on track! Scunny away is our first trip let’s get behind the team!
