No it isn’t, there is nothing in a speedway engine today that wasn’t in a 1930s one the materials are better, unlike other sports which are much vastly more expensive using injection systems and ECUs but as I’ve been banging on for years speedway doesn’t need half the BS that riders use today like the karger ignition which put the price up for no gain for the sport and then the expect the fan to pay for it, on the SON something is only worth as much as folk are prepared to pay for it and clearly the crowd showed it wasn’t worth what discovery think it’s worth, a good indication worth’s at the moment was the speedway auction at Ledbury last week, a lot of the bikes didn’t fetch half what they are worth and this is the case for classic cars too. Speedway needs a reality check to where it stands in society. The SON was despite the weather an exiting well run event and imo was the best sporting event in this country this year but such a shame that nobody saw it

Discovery and there tentacles are arguably the biggest media company in the world and pretty much dictate what is seen on our TV screens, serious question,apart from mentions during the Monday night speedway meetings and the odd mention during the superbikes did anyone else see any advertising of our prestigious event anywhere ?

Didn’t watch the last one in Warsaw so can’t see me bothering with this one either, don’t think I will going Cardiff again this year and for for me is the problem, if the pinnacle of the sport in this country can’t attract me to attend then how does it hope to attract anyone else, I am a through and through speedway fan, I live the sport I am the sport and would rather go and watch a championship or premiership meeting, Cardiff should be a blast but it just isn’t anymore and discovery seem so out of touch that I can’t see it changing, the sprint thing is just pathetic as a spectacle

Is Cardiff still happening? barely a mention of it anywhere, no publicity nothing, since discovery have took over it’s like it become an after thought

I think at this years tv awards there should be a special award for the company that can’t capture what’s happening, Eurosport would win

If you go on google earth, the above view is now but if you go on street view the old stadium is sill there

Something which is refreshing is riders are coming out before other riders come back in which is something they do at the Isle of Wight and they manage to get 30 heats in, also not a lot of gardening going on

Let’s hope the rain stays away cause this is an enjoyable meeting so far

Track looks fine but visibility is very poor

This has got farce writ all over it

Track was fine after all the grading against Sheffield but it didn’t suit one person

let’s hope the chief medical officer is not on her period and gets the meeting called off again

Wonder if the nightingale stand on 3/4 turn will be used tonight ? All the other teams riders mechanics and general hangers on were there last night too, strangely also saw rune holta there, probably made up half the crowd in the main stand

I do enjoy these qualifiers, it’s riders we don’t get to see a lot of,although there were no surprises it was I thought an enjoyable meeting I just wish they could get a crowd in to see it
