There has been plenty over the years but like I said I don’t begrudge the people I just don’t understand why you would take the post if you don’t bring anything to the table, personally Ive turned down a few jobs in the sport because I didn’t feel I was the right person for that role as much as I love the sport I can’t take a job in it just for the sake of it
-
I think it’s called jobs for the boys, I don’t begrudge anyone who takes a position in the sport at whatever level but I do wonder why some take the spot when clearly they either crap at it or in some cases haven't a clue what they are doing despite their best intentions
-
As I’ve said before my hats always in the ring when it comes to speedway but speedway is full of cliques and if you ain’t in one
-
Maybe the person buying Ipswich was Terry Russel ??
-
And right there is why I should not only be Buxton’s team manager but be the person in charge of the whole national league, as I said in an earlier post we never learn from our historical mistakes and so we are set to fail again
-
Just read Buxton has failed it’s track inspection on air fence, pit gate and some fence panels, looks like some work to do

Telford classic off road show
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to THE DEAN MACHINE's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I pay £120 but that’s for 3.5 meters by 3 meters but you can get cheaper for smaller, to be honest mate what you’re selling you’re better off at either the paradise park one in march or the speedway show at at Warwick, both are cheaper and more tailored towards the memorabilia crowd, Telford is tailored towards the bike side of it -
And still the silence continues, surely got to be a statement today ?
-
Next weekend the 7-8th Feb is the classic off road show at the Telford international center, it’s a huge show with 1000s of bikers and family’s attending over the 2 days, the usual speedway suspects have stalls there, me, Jan staechmann,,Aiden and Les Collins (ride &Skid) Cov comp,Hagon shocks,Sid’s wheels, I think Buxton, belle vue supporters club and Workington are all represented there and you always get a good sprinkle of former riders, but where are the bspl or speedway futures again ???? It costs peanuts for a stand and as I’m sure the usual folk will say why bother? Well it’s not preaching to the converted for a start,,we need to set up a team that does all the shows no matter how big or small,,we have to get out there and go to the people, anyway hope to see you there

In the grand scheme of things yesterdays bit of misguided publicity is no big deal really, the sport has bigger issues to worry about and it got the sport in the papers today and for good or bad it got tongues wagging all over the sport, looking back it’s quite funny really and in a strange way I’m sort of looking forward for who is the next former celebrity to get dragged out to show their closet love of our wonderful sport, maybe Rob Godfrey might even be able to remember the name of the next one

Ashton is a rare talent, you can tell the way he rides the bike,he is a natural on a bike and that is very rare in this sport,he beat lots of big names in his short career but also lost to absolutely nobody’s by half a lap, that’s not confidence or lack of experience it’s because he has a mental block around riders,it’s not fear or experience or lack of talent, it is a mental block, I pointed this out before last season after watching him ride over a few meetings saying joining kings Lynn was a mistake because the track is a 100% commitment track and will bite you if you’re not committed, he has to get over that block and the only way to get over that is with a sports psychologist, you can’t ride it off, if he did he could of gone on to bigger things because he has got what it takes, I would of like to of known if he was the same in motox and I suspect he was, I’ve seen it in a couple of riders over the years, Justin Elkins was another but he displayed it in a different way
-
Then you don’t understand how psychology works in sport, it is now massive in top level sport, especially sports like speedway that requires ridiculous mental strength
-
Ashton is a natural on a speedway bike, he has that natural talent that so few have but he has a mental block around riders, a rider that lacks experience or talent will not pin it on the fence for 4 laps beating the opposite NO1 looking like a world beater and then the next race shut off for no reason, he did it do many times before he retired, a psychiatrist may be able to sort his problem out but racing with that mental block is good for nobody
-
Ashton doesn’t lack confidence or talent, he has some sort of mental block around other riders and until he gets over that problem he is best away from any form of motorsport, it will end up him or someone else getting hurt, his crash with Zack Cook at Poole when for no reason he shut off going into first corner and getting hit from behind by Cook was a prime example of the issue
-
He does have a championship spot it’s just not been announced yet
-
I don’t mind who rides in the league as long as they not breaking pay scales to do it and quite clearly they are, one thing speedway never does is learn from its own mistakes
-
Lambert to kings Lynn ?

But as Godfrey says speedway futures are the completely independent organisation who will be running the sport going forward and they are completely independent with only Godfrey and lemon in it who are not independent -

Godfrey gave the forum a mention anyway even if it not in a good way but then again why would someone who runs a sport be interested in anything the people who pay for it have to say -

Not sure I’m going to be on anymore, I’ve spit my dummy out over not being asked on this week 😂 joking aside I am slightly annoyed at not being asked on this week and how they went about it,,what’s the point of doing it if people like Godfrey are not held accountable on it ?also I’ve really had the wind knocked out of my sails over other things in speedway over the last few weeks and it’s really tested my love of the sport, I’m sure I’ll get over it at some point but at the moment sod speedway -

Couple of interesting points said by Godfrey, sport England are there to help - not true don’t want anything to do with speedway and the bspl and speedway futures are here to help any track get up and running - not true don’t reply and when they finally do no help at all (individuals with the sport are helpful)and speedway futures were asked by cradley for a supporting letter signed by Redknapp to help with their dealings with the council- didnt even get a reply and as I stated on an earlier podcast that the consultants that are working with cradley to find a track said they couldn’t believe that cradley had got so far without the help of the governing body whatsoever, that statement alone speaks volumes -
Yes and ultimately it has led to a culture of entitlement, where you get mum and dads crowing that’s it’s costing them a fortune to set their kids up in the sport, yet if they chose motox or enduro or road racing then it would cost them 5x as much and unless that kid is something special and wins things they won’t get a penny back
-
Could be worse it could be big boy, well it definitely isn’t me even though I am by far the best qualified for the job 🤣
