Will You Be Back At Sheffield In 2014
spin king junior replied to MWC's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A lotta competition would be a partial answer to that. We've got 2 well supported football teams, with one being just down the road. As well as a whole host of other sports teams who've got a decent following and have had more success a lately. At the end of the day, people can only afford so much. I love going to watch Wednesday, and have also enjoyed the odd night at the ice hockey. But with the current prices, there's no way I could afford to watch em all regularly, and I'd imagine that the case for many others. But there's a good vibe going round, hopefully we'll see people coming back to the Sheffield once again and have a bit more to cheer about! -
Very happy with the team put together. Much better than the one I suggested a couple of weeks back! I think we've got a very good balance and still look strong throughout. The real trump card is having Andre at reserve, he'll thrive around Owlerton this season with being in such an easy position, he'll never be back to what he once was, but without a doubt a solid enough reserve, or second string when we need. Pretty much happy with every signing, but not exactly sold on Simon Nielsen. Probably the best of what's left, but he's barely seen Owlerton and hasn't exactly scored all that great from what I've seen. But hopefully he can prove himself on the track! Definitely deserves his chance and will hopefully kick on when he gets down to reserve.

Ever considered the cost of bringing someone from Argentina compared to Barnsley? Fact is, despite how much promise Facundo showed, the cost of getting him over here, accommodating him and possibly getting him on better machinery possibly could have been too much. I think Bates is a good local rider and has a lot of promise. I hope we do see Face back over here at some point, whether that be with us or another team as he really is an exciting rider and could be on a snip of he gets his equipment sorted.
-
Cheers. I'm glad we've got someone on here who understands the rulebook!
-
what's stopping him from signing for Sheffield because he's riding national league?
-
9.21 left for the last 2 riders. If we sign Andre, then we'll be left with 4.85 for the last rider. Really excited for this season now! I think Lanham and Poole will prove to be excellent signing for us, futures looking bright.
-
Good team, but comes in at 43.13.
-
Well said. I'm sure the promotion are working hard to get the team completed, and are probably just as keen as the fans to get things signed, sealed and announced. It is dragging out a bit, but I'm just were running! Looked fairly bleak over the winter for us.
-
Can't argue with that! Still well could be something going, but with the way the fixtures are I can't see us being willing to have rr for Morris for a fair amount of meetings.
-
if he signs for Leicester were looking at 7 meetings where he'll be missing for either us or Leicester. It won't work. And Poole have 7.50 left over, I really do doubt they'll waste 1.60 to accommodate Morris in the team and would still miss at least 4 home meetings.
-
With no Elite club available now for Morris, I can't see him leaving Swindon now to sign for Sheffield.
-
Well if we are signing Palm Toft and with the Morris deal looking dead in the water, we could be looking at a team of- 1.Stead 2 Palm Toft 3. Lanham/7pt foreigner 4. Aarnio 5. Roynon 6. Compton 7. Koppe I'd be happy enough with that team. Leaves a lot of strength in depth and would certainly hold it's own around Sheffield.
-
Wouldn't mind seeing the Sheffield/Scunthorpe connection back in the national league. Unlikely to happen. But I enjoyed seeing some of the younger lads riding around Owlerton as well as having another team to support!

Biggest Improver 2014
spin king junior replied to Paddy The Rebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There's a definite reason behind it. I just expected Glasgow to go down a cheap and cheerful option, but it actually looks quite a pricey side that's quite well built. I still think it would've been a much strong side without Berge, but I hope it all goes well for you! Glasgow are definitely due a good season. -

I don't think at this point Glasgow can afford to take risks! Berge might come good in a couple of season, but its far too soon to put him in the main body of the team and expect him to do much will probably be your downfall of this season. -
Think we'd be hard pressed to have Morris signed and get andre at reserve. Only 2 riders I can see that are left and would fit are Edberg and Stichauer, no thanks!
-
Would he? didn't look all that impressive to me at the top gun. I think if we were to sign Itture, we'd run the risk of a similar problem to what we had last year.
-
I hope Jake does come back into the sport. There was definitely glimpses of a good rider and one over time would like to see back in a Sheffield race jacket, if he wasn't under as much pressure as he was and didn't suffer from as much mechanical problems, then we'd probably seen a much steadier rider around Owlerton.
-
Would take us over the limit with either pairing unfortunately .
-
Bloody hell, Richard Hall? Been there, done that. Its time to move on instead of resorting to the same old guff we had before. And surely after last season, the last thing we'd want to do is bring Hall back. Steady rider around Owlerton, but will never improve and won't give a toss once longtrack comes back around.
-
Would leave us with 5.54 for the last rider.
-
We've got 2 regular visitors to Owlerton who'd make good team managers. Jack Lee has the experience of leading a team and would probably be my first choice, but I've always said I'd like Garry Stead to manage and come back to speedway in some capacity.
-
Saw him at Sheffield last season. Looked out of his depth amongst a field of mostly national league riders. Perhaps he'll fair better around Plymouth, but he barely looked a 3 point rider to me.
-
I hope you're not trying to hint at something there Ariel!
