I very much doubt we'll be without Pickering next season, especially with his comments regarding if there was 1 league he'd pick Sheffield over Scunny
-
I do sort of understand why some wouldn't be keen on Brennan - he hasn't exactly got a stellar record round owlerton. Other than that, I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to sign him. A rider that's improved year on year, a real professional and speaks well for himself and in what could be a weakened league I think could be a real asset as hes proved he can defintely hold his own at heatleader- given the opportunity I'd love to see him have a season at Sheffield, however I fully suspect he'll be back at Ipswich.
-
Glad to see we're all but confirmed to be starting the season- fully suspect the league will lose a lot of the big hitters from last season, and I think sadly that will include Jack, so will have to go strength in depth. Potentially being something like 1. Picko 7.76 2. Morris 5.89 3. C Holder 6.84 4. Rowe 5.22 5. Wright 6.11 6. Flint 5.06 Rs edwards or killeen

For a club like Ipswich to be put up for sale who hold a regular decent crowd and just won the league just shows no one is safe. If a club like Ipswich can't succeed then no one can and quite simply the days of top flight racing in Britain is done. You'd think/hope someone like Guy Nicholl will be in, I cant see him letting the club go under.

Sheffield - for sale
spin king junior replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Oh get over yourself- the attitude of an handful of Ipswich fans on this form has been pathetic over last couple of years- constantly hounded about our track, fans and riders and giving a dig at every opportunity even when their teams aren't involved in it. Do I think most fans want to see Sheffield open? Absolutely. but with way the club has been lambasted by some i also feel there's some that would relish seeing the demise of the club i support. I'll leave it there. If people agree or disagree I don't care anymore. Outside speedway I'm a Wednesday fan so seeing both clubs you support potentially go to the wall is pretty draining.- 114 replies

Sheffield - for sale
spin king junior replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hopefully someone can be found to buy the club- last thing thr sport needs is another well established clubs lost like so many others- although I'm sure there's a good amount of Ipswich fans that'd be glad to see us go under... -
Exactly what speedway needs. Some fresh young blood to bring the sport into the new age. Welcome aboard Arry, I'm sure you won't look lost amongst the crowd.

Initially coming in it did look a right old state but after all the work it looked good to me, but truly what do I know, I'm just some fat lad stood in stands who's only chucked his leg over a 125cc. I was that confident it was going to run I'd gone to grab a pint and whilst in the queue they made the call it was off. Do feel mostly for the visiting Ipswich fans which there was a good amount and can relate to how they feel- we went all to Birmingham many years ago and in very similar circumstances it absolutely chucked it down just before the meeting and got rained off its crap. Also feel for the track staff who you could see were working absolutely overtime to sort the track. For people who are ultimately volunteers they certainly did not shy away from putting in the effort. I think the riders could've given it a go personally. But we'll truly never know whether it was some being overly cautious or if the track wasn't rideable.
-
Moron. If you'd seen the effort of the track staff you'd have seen we wanted that meeting on. And what advantage does Sheffield have from not running it? Because I can tell you now having to hire out owlerton another night isn't cheap. According to picko over intercom the ref listened to both sets of riders, some were good to give it a go and others weren't. Because they couldn't come to an agreement they've called it off.

Wouldn't make an awful lot of difference i reckon. We weren't going to win league with Sedgy and Kerr, we probably won't with Morris and Etheridge but at least the promotion have tried something -

I'd be surprised if we was looking to get rid of Kerr. Blown a bit hot and cold, but has put in some real match winning performances. I think only reason to get rid of him would be to accommodate a better riders to replace sedgy who definitely needs to be replaced at this stage. I think we'll struggle to get anyone new over at this stage. Think the likely ones will be one of Nagels, Mcdiarmid or Mountain to come in. -

Is It Finally Time For One League?
spin king junior replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think the sport needs to drop a level sadly. It's great to watch likes of the Holders, Woffy, Doyle, Kurtz and Sayfutdinov, but they're sadly few and far between that do want to ride in gb. I think the time has come to stop competing with the Polish top league. The money is just completely incomparable- when youve got Doyle reporting to have made over £40k from one meeting in Poland how can you expect anyone to risk it all to come ride over here? It makes no sense to. The sport needs to make it a more viable option even that means you cater more for the mid end riders. -
I'm no medical professional but for me it feels he's coming back far too early. And I'm sure it's a combination of a bit of pressure from his Polish side and sheer determination from Doyle wanting to get back on the bike. I just hope Jason hasn't tried to get back too soon at the potential detriment of his health.

So just to make things clear, weve gone from Sheffield is closing next year due as we're getting kicked out of Owlerton to now Tolley is taking over Sheffield... We're proper 'in the know' on this forum 🤡 -

Stock cars have a completely seperate pit area to the speedway. The stocks used an area behind the 2nd bend where the old training track was- so would have no effect on the speedway. The greyhounds are going nowhere and therefore the stadium is going nowhere. Think people have seen the news with the stock cars and presumed incorrectly. -

Like this hasn't been known since the start of the season. Polish media announced that MJJ wasn't doing a full season in Britain and now it's being made out its a last minute decision? Absolute load of s***. Embarrassing from all sides. And as always, the sport in this country is made to look even more amateur. I genuinely believed things were getting better and we were seeing a move in the right direction. But it's all the same old. -
Sheffield v Ipswich Thursday 15th May

Superb meeting that was. Speedway as it should be with two good sides going at it, a close scoreline and some cracking racing. Credit to both sets of riders. Credit to Ipswich as they are living up to the hype and showing why they're the favourites for the league. -

Can any Ipswich fans explain Sayfutdinov weird pre match 'ritual' he's just walked on the track, rolled about in dirt and then started scooting about on his arse like he's a dog with worms. I've seen some warm ups in my time, but thst was the most bizarre! -

Absolutely makes us weaker but I'd rather us make a change rather than running rr for most the season. Must Absolutely be slim pickings and a bit disappointing that we've gone way under limit which will get taken up by Rowe once he's on his real average. But it is what it is, should be fine round Owlerton but I reckon we'll suffer on the road. -

Firstly, great team performance again- been fantastic to see Picko start as he finished last season, looks a rider full of confidence and really made Owlerton his track, Holders were their usual selves and both Anders and Leon are looking real coups. I do feel sorry for Danyon in some respect. He's been put in a really difficult position and we can't have massive expectations. But to me he just doesn't look comfortable round Owlerton and if he was to be dropped this early on it would be a harsh move. But equally we need to do what's right for the team. Again, no disrespect to KL or Birmingham, but bigger challenges will be coming and we do need to see some improvement. There aren't many riders that we could sign out there for what average we have unless we make a double change- He's got a few meetings for the Bandits between now and our next meeting- hopefully he can score well there, get his confidence up and show what he can do when we're up against Oxford. -

They really are taking the p*** now. Once again, zero communication to the supporters and the paying public are kept in the dark until they've paid out of their pockets.
