  1. Thanks Alan,,nice to know im not alone in my thinking...
  2. Cant believe how little interest on here there is for an important league match on monday evening against Coventry ,,an yet posters continue rambling on about a fixture filler against a make shift Wimbledon team on that other thread...Are most of the posters on here nostalgics that actually dont attend the Kings meetings on any regular basis and this is their form of entertaining themselves,,.. OK sorry if thats your bag,,
  3. Starting at 4-30pm i recon early finish would be about 6-15 to 6-30pm so anytime between that and 7-15pm ,depending on any delays
  4. The Storm have a solid top 4 and the lower order are also capable of good points So im expecting a much closer result this week than the comfortable win against Buxton... We will need all the lads firing to win this one..Looking forward to some exciting racing mon at 6-30
  5. Sure this thread is about the challenge match against a side called Wimbledon... I just think league matches are far more important to the regular fans at Kent and have not had the coverage that this relatively unimportant challenge match has had ,like its the most important thing to happen this season,,of which of course i happen to disagree.. But please carry on i will say no more on this thread...No offence intended..
  6. This is getting a bit boring whatever the name put on the meeting ,Wimbledon ,,New Cross West Ham. Canterbury....of much more importance is the next league match ,,These challenge matches are just fixture fillers to give some continuity to the weekly fix for the fans, some of whom have probably supported these defunct tracks in the past, and it adds some nostalgic value to such challenges And more importantly track time and of course earnings for the riders,,,,lets hope what ever riders are invited ,put on a good show for the fans ..Personally i dont care which riders are booked as long as they are competitive,,Riders riding now are going to put on a better show , whether they rode for Wimbledon or not.. Than any of the riders who have ridden for Wimbledon in the distant past, . and have since retired. .On the plus side any attempt to revive speedway at Wimbledon or any defunct track should be applauded and in due course given every support...
  7. Adam has had a fair bit of trouble with chains, im wondering if a sprocket is worn or the sprocket alignment is ok,, I dont know ?,, ,just looking for a possible reason? He was also riding with an injury from monday night that caused his withdrawal from that meeting .Please dont knock the lad he is making good progress in general ,,just had a bad week thats all...Jack Kingston has had some rough weeks but this week he has produced some usefull points for the team..maybe starting to use his head a little, he already has plenty of dash about him ,,, it ,s a bit swings and roundabouts for most of these young riders...Its called learning the trade by experience....
  8. Thanks for that Greyhoundp ,,i thought that must be the case...
  9. There seems to be some confusion on the updates over the result of heat 4,,it states jack fell first bend and then pushed his bike off the track ,,Ben slowed expecting a restart,.Later one of the Heathens had a bike failure and failed to finish, the result was a 3-2 to Dudley which suggests Ben came second not Jack who had fallen ,,But on the riders score chart it shows Jack scored 2 points and Ben did not finish ,Confusing to say the least i suppose someone at the meeting knows what actually happened and may be they could enlighten us all....???.
  10. Hope our lads give you Heathens a good meeting and the weather holds out,,Will be following the meeting with interest on updates
  11. Cracking meeting tonight bringing the Kings their first league victory,,,Immaculate 15 point max for Steve ....Ben Morley who had to take on Charles Wright no less than 4 times in his 5 rides beating him twice inc a 5-1 with Steve in heat 15 scored 11+1.. Benji Compton gating well tonight ,scored 11 from 4 .....Connor and Jack both had their moments Jack had to take Adams rides after an injury in his first ride and did well to pick up the rider of the night award....David Mason had clutch drag problems early on but got them sorted in his last 2 rides... An overall improved performance against a team that had beaten Mildenhall at Mildenhall recently,,,,But Charles Wright aside, with a little support from Liam Carr and Adam Mckinna never looked like mounting a challenge here....Very tough one at Dudley Heathens tomorrow tuesday ,,lets hope the lads can put up a credible performance.. The track had some Granite dust added to some more Shale which was a big improvement to the racing surface ..Things are on the up, with another good attendance from fans who are creating an excellent atmosphere in the main stand...
  12. Latest weather report ive seen suggests we may well get away with this one.. By saying that i hope i hav,nt put the mocurse on it .. Looking forward to some competitive racing today ...
  13. Charles Wright is in tremendous form and will take some beating ,he will be ably backed by Adam Mckinna a usefull performer on his day. The youngsters in both teams may hold the key to the result of this match ,,,.We now have a more solid top 4 and if Adam and Connor can continue their improvement and pick up points against Buxton,s lower order i think we will get home, Jack Kingston needs to calm down a bit and stop throwing points away ,He has ability but i feel he over rides and then falls ,sometimes in good point scoring positions ..The team needs those points, and he can get them, its called using your head , I sincerly hope all the riders have a good safe meeting and the paramedic arrives in time for the match to be completed
  14. How heavy will the predicted rain be ? weather reports are not to good for saturday ..this is an important match for the Rockets,,is Jason Garrity back ? Will there be an early call off ? These questions will be answered in due course....
  15. To be fair to Steve it was just his gating that was not quite up to his usual standard .This could have been to do with his bike set up on the track condition at the gate ,,The track was so slick as to make passing even by Steve,s standards extremely difficult ,and the riders in front of him are no mugs for the taking ..Ben Morley on the other hand was making lightning gates ,except in heat 13 where he trapped in front but lifted due to the throttle he had on.... Steve is a fantastic rider to have in the team we are lucky to have such an exciting rider... But is still bound to ,like any rider have a slightly off day.. Hes till scored 9 from 4
  16. I do feel you can not blame the management for the paramedics late arrival,.The company supplying the paramedic should be sent a bill for riders lost earnings..Riders some come hundreds of miles to get there ,,many fans probably over an hours drive to get there.. An yet the only person the meeting can not run without ( Apart from the ref i suppose ) is the only person that does not turn up on time.. So every one who was going to be at the meeting was there waiting for this one indispensable person to turn up to earn his considerable fee ,,... disgraceful... Change the company supplying these paramedics and inform other promotions of their incompetence....
  17. David Mason returned with a vengance tonight top scoring with 11 and looking the quickest i have seen him round here ..Steve Boxalls gating was not at his best and the ultra slick track made passing almost impossible (It definately needs more shale on it,,) Ben Morley made 3 electric starts to defeat the impressive Lewis Blackbird and twice prevailing over Paul Stark who also was impressive holding off Steve Boxall in heat 6... one forcefull ride from Connor Coles saw him win heat 8... And Adam Kirby continues to improve with a solid performance and strong first bend passes ,,only needs to improve his gating ...Jack Kingston had a couple of falls and continues to struggle with the track conditions here... Benji Compton was out gated all night and this was reflected in his score... The Paramedic turned up three quarters of an hour late which caused the curfew to end the meeting after heat 13 ,,These people are well paid and in my opinion it is just not good enough,, Spoiled the night for me ,and i suspect many others ...Still with the inclusion of Mason i can see further victorys at least at home...
  18. Of course this is only a challenge match ,,these are much derided by speedway fans in general ..But having matches every week is giving these riders valuable track time and is one of the big advantages of riding for the Kent Kings ... Many riders in other national league clubs are probably wishing their clubs were doing the same .. Fan numbers are holding up pretty well and im sure they will continue for all meetings and even improve if the team starts to win a few matches ...Not knowing the full line up of the Scunthorpe team ,,it is hard to predict how this one will go.. But in Lewis Blackbird and Paul Stark they have 2 riders on top form ,,so some good racing in prospect tonight at 6 -30 pm
  19. Cris Gay is notorious for holding the tapes a very long time normally ,,and especially if a rider is creeping... Some will say thats right its the rules ... But boy does he mess meetings up with the constant stoppages ,,And riders can burn out their clutches ,,,,exspensive.....
  20. Why would you think that Gustix .i am sure i dont...
  21. To Jim the Whipper judging by your post you did not attend the meeting. your slagging of of Adam Kirby is getting boring ,,please go back to your boozing or what ever else you you do in your little world.. the rest of us are speedway fans....By the way Adam won the man of the match award for his performance... How galling that must be for you....
  22. Good meeting tonight as usual our youngsters threw away a few points but it was because they were giving it everything ,,,Adam worked hard for his 10+1,,, Steve Boxall had a fall,,. and Ben Morley threw a primary chain ,Ben pushed home for a point to the delight of, the fans,,both were well in front at the time,,, two splendid 5-1s from this pair in heats 13 and 15 gave the final score a respectable look at 45 to 48 ,,, I actually think we would have won with a bit more luck...Benji Compton was feeling his way back in ,..and normally would have expected to score more than 4points By the way Steve Boxall broke the all time track record at Mildenhall on sunday I was lucky to have witnessed this awesome ride.. With at least one change expected this week ,And noticeably David Mason had a spin after todays meeting,,? Things could at last be on the way up ...
  23. If all goes well i did hear somewhere( and dont take this as gospel ) That the plan was 2yrs National league then move up to the premier,,with efforts to raise the curfew as time goes on, as they prove to the council that Kent Kings are good neighbours .. All this will no doubt come down to the financial implications which tend to change on a yearly basis Speculation about Steve Boxall at this stage, is just that speculation...
  24. Pit stop i did not say you need the fastest ! motor.. i said you need a fast motor ,,sure you need balls but with out a good fast engine you wont score many points against the boys that have one and know how to set them up, round big tracks ... Most riders have a degree of guts or they would not be racing speedway bikes in competitive leagues......Congratulations to Steve Boxall faultless max,,hope Benji Compton is ok, ...No further comment on the match i was not there...
  25. You do not only need big track ability and experience to ride the I.O.W.., You also need a fast engine not all the lads have the money for such equipment..So i am fearing a big home win,...,Boxall,, and hopefully Morley and Compton will be able to keep the score respectable ...Hope all the riders have a good and importantly ,, a safe night ....
