Can't honestly say that a moaning old git will be missed much anyway. To quote the late David Ashby , " its nice to be important but its important to be nice " .It sounds like you are neither -
Stars vs Witches - 18th May - POSTPONED
castrolargh replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Maybe if the baby offset engines weren't so bloody fickle and everyone rode an engine that was more flexible, for want of a better term, less meetings would be called off as the bikes would be able to cope in conditions that varied a bit -
If something like this was to be introduced then it would also need a ruling at championship level where every championship team MUST have rising stars at reserve to give british youngsters a chance. They have to start somewhere.

Too right.Im glad you said two young lads, all the attention seems to be on Cooper, but Jody Scott is just quietly going about his job and was equally as impressive last night. -
I would be very surprised if anybody has ridden the track as yet ,si.ply because the steel posts aren't covered , I would imagine they will need a similar arrangement as mildenhall ,with a foam hat over them before anyone is allowed to ride the track

Kings Lynn vs Ipswich KOC April 13th 7.30pm
castrolargh replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Paco has said lynn is not his favourite track and that is one of the reasons he signed on, he feels he can become a better rider by doing that. That obviously benefits lynn and him. He may not be a Nicki Pedersen in the making but he also said coming to lynn to master the track made him a better rider, in fact it helped make him world champion -
I just watched it too, and it seemed like a tongue in cheek sort of comment.I would have liked to see him back,as others have said he's been great as a star
-
Dale also mentioned about attitude ,thats what surprised me
-
I was surprised by Dale's comments about Richard Lawson

Of course there are enough riders. There may not be enough riders to maintain 7 man teams to a 40 point limit but there will be enough for 5 or 6 rider teams at whatever strength depending on riders available. It just needs researching properly
-
True, but he has stepped in before to keep a club running more than once so it wouldn't surprise me

He did at Peterborough. The team there was stronger as crowds were better ,therefore better finance

2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams

You are right, the championship promoters do seem to have it right, at least a bit more right than the premiership. However. Without the premiership, the championship would not work. The championship uses many of the riders from the premiership, but as was reported in the star, at a massively reduced pay rate, so without premiership money it wouldn't work for the riders. The premiership has lost a handful of teams in recent seasons mainly due to losing their access to a track. No one from the championship wants to move up, as their business model would not work, either due to race nights, losing local derbies, extra costs etc. In addition to all this, next year Poland are prohibiting riders from racing in more than 1 extra league, meaning we probably lose most of the better danes we have , and potentially quite a few to Sweden, meaning less " top" riders in this country, making next years premiership potentially weaker , so it begs the question, what next? For the championship to work it needs the premiership for the premiership to work it needs riders, so if the premiership falls, so does the championship in its current form. Riders need to earn x amount of money so either the championship has to pay more or costs must be cut. British speedway needs more riders to fill its teams, so we need to rebuild. If that means a " lower" standard , so be it, likewise if it means 5 or 6 man teams , so be it. Let clubs race on their favoured night, we've already been done over by Poland, and other riders will ride in Denmark or Sweden, so early on this season there needs to be a rider census to get a rough idea as to how many riders would be available to fill all championship and premiership teams, riding on whichever night, and then work out team sizes and strengths from there, based on 2 leagues, one professional league, but with protected races for at least 1 or 2 " juniors", and the national development league ,with a clear progression between the leagues. Reduce engine servicing costs, ban trick parts, put a rev limiter on that will make a difference, maybe a minimum flywheel weight, do the consultation now, with a view to 2027, reassure the punters that genuine change is on the way,and rebuild from the bottom up. Now going to grab my tin hat and get behind the parapet waiting to be shot down -
This is very true, and if I recall correctly, a precedent was set at poole a few years ago with bjarne pederesen being 8 when the rule was tried in the elite league
-
Ideal for Jason Garrity!
-
Looks like there has been a rule written specifically for Jason Garrity Any british rider returning to the sport gets an 8pc reduction in his average PER YEAR absent
-
I think youre right regarding averages, and i dont think assessed averages were a " thing" until points limits were introduced for team building, replacing rider control, some time in the late 70s I think
-
That was this season, Nicolai Klindt is having his next march
-
There are only 10 gp's next season , 2 of which are at belle vue, leaving only another 8 gp Saturdays throughout the whole season, surely fixture planners could , let's say, plan the fixture list accordingly?
-
39 miles between the two, and 41 miles from the showground to Beaumont leys.perhaps share ho e meetings between the 2, much like Cradley did with Wolverhampton/ Birmingham, at least that way fans to the east have potentially a shorter distance for some home meetings, and the same for fans to the west

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
castrolargh replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Perhaps they are getting signed just in case there is a u turn from what is expected, and there is only 1 senior league? Only need to look at Coventry and Peterborough in 2011 i think it was, they got shafted at the agm after pre agm plans were changed -

Got to disagree there regarding race nights. I only live 15min away from the afa or saddlebow road but I absolutely hate Monday race nights, especially when I'm normally home about 18.30 and very often out at 4.30 in the morning. It means I'm nackered Tuesday and that doesn't start the week off very well. At least with a Thursday race night there's only Friday at work to get through!
