And there I have to agree.. I have a campaign for healthy eating, we all need to live longer, so stop eating burgers, they are really bad for you.
-
Then, if that is the case, and I do not disagree with you, the volunteers must have a greater say in how it is run, if they are giving up their time and effort in making sure that the sport continues. The problem arises, when someones opinion differs from those who are in charge, when generally their heart is there, and in their way are trying to help.

Scott, you no me by now. Any business should be run by it's owners or boards of directors, not reliant on volunteers. So the question is, is Berwick Speedway a business in that sense. If it runs as a form of Cooperative, then fine, everyone involved should have an equal vote, each individual involved having an equal vote in any decision. 'YOU', run your business yourself, you are not reliant on anyone volunteering, you fall or stand by the decisions and standards you make, I doubt you would relish any outside interference in how you run your business. Your survival depends on the standard of sevice 'YOU' provide to your customer, who will return because of it, or reccomend you because of their satisfaction. Speedway in general asks it's fans for help, then gets uppity when they want a say how it should be run, the speedway world cannot have it both ways. Berwick has a good supporters club, backed up by the 2012 group, but even there, it seems there has been a bust up. The supporters club members give their time and effort to support the club and it's riders, and should 100% decide how their funds are spent, without the club interfering in their decisions. Here is a perfect example where animosity can build up, from a group of people who love speedway, and enjoy helping.

The Promotion said in a press release 2014 averaged only about 550/650 per meeting. I think that is worrying for the future of speedway in Berwick. Ten years ago it was estimated you need 750 paying adults to break even, I would imagine it would be 850/900 today.
-
The promotion do well when he comes to a high profile events, the weekly event, your bread & butter, find me a poster in a cafe, a pub, a restaurant even the Tourist information Centres, holiday camps etc. etc. etc. If the club can find a volunteer to distribute fine, but at the end of the day it is the promotions job, the clue is in the name. Berwick Rangers have a simple A4 monthly fixture poster, it's everywhere, a leaf out of their book perhaps. The amount of customers I have that don't know about speedway in Berwick is astounding, so the word is certainly not out there, sadly. I am sure Screm, like all of us want speedway to continue in Berwick, his comments may come over sometimes as a bit heavy, but his heart is there, it is time to take all comments on board and not take offence from them.

He may eat swedes, but he would deck you if you called him SWEDISH

We are going nowhere if we sign these riders, jpourneymen who are at the end of their journey, but still have to unpack their luggage. Bl**dy hope not, it's taken 5 years for them to realise it should go. Still with you Neil Give me a 'CHANCER' any day, you never knew what he would do next, he kept you excited. Even when we got shafted, PW still believed there was a chance. NONE, except the FIM & Sky meetings

Think you will find it was 'WOULD NOT TELL YOU HIS TEAM', he had worked out at least 6 permutations, within his very strict budget. He new what he could afford and built his team around it. You never saw Peter out with the begging bowl when things were tight. I am sure there were lots of riders he would have liked at Berwick, but he was wise enough to realise the club could not accomodate them financially.
-
Barrett yes, David did not want to be at Berwick in 2015.
-
Now we will see if it's a womens job or not.
-
Up early Chris, or just in from work. You going to need some rest now, for the next time you have to conceive
-
Don't think you will see Steen at Berwick again If you drank in the B&G at Berwick you would know Think you will find it more than that.
-
With you there Neil, need some balls to do it though
-
Even he made a few mistakes, but he played a few blinders aswell, sometimes a match for Ian Thomas. On the Kus arguament Matej was a Berwick asset under Peter Waite, the rules then were you only had to ride once for a club and the rider became an asset. He rode for Berwick once, then at Glasgow the next day at I think The Ashfield Classic, got his head run over and supposedly came around speaking fluent English ( PW new how to spin a yarn. For some reason he was not declared when Peter sold, and he became a non asset. Think you will find still struggling with Plan A
-
The one thing about Peter Waite, he always had plan A, plan B plan C plan D, then two or three more options just in case, but he always had damn good knowledge and the contacts all over the speedway world.
-
Bl**dy good little rider, would probably increase on his assessed average of 7 aswell.
-
I cannot spend more in the B&G, never find my way home, it's difficult enough now, between Parky and myself, it's the blind leading the blind :drink:
-
Thank you Robin, spoke to Rymel new he had signedd for a Polish club, he is looking to Sweden aswell plus obviously Czech
-
I can remember taliking to Brian in The B&G at Berwick, even when Matej was at his lowest in 2013, Brian still believed he could achieve the No 1 position at Redcar. I was one of his sponsors at Berwick, and I AM NOT PEEVED with Matej, self employed people should always do what is best for themselves.
-
To be honest Scott, I spent more on the juniors ( mainly Leon admittedly) than I intended. They do show their appreciaton aswell. Think hecsigned for Wradic (not sure of spelling(
-
To be honest Alf I thought there was another 0.5 to come close to an 8, not the most exciting rider to watch I will concede, but far better than a rider riding to excite and falling off all the time.
-
I did say, ONE of the most expensive, not the most expensive. Please read what is written, not what you think is written
-
To be fair about £5k to £7k for a rider of this calibre is about the right amount, but you can ask what ever you like.
-
As one of his sponsors in 2014, I wish Matej well who ever he rides for. I have no beef with Brian, Matej is a Redcar asset and if they want him back and the terms suit Matej, that is the end of the story. Everyone needs to move on now and accept it.

Makes it financially easier for me, will just help the youngsters in the 2nd half, next season.
