  1. It is because the only professionals in the sport (in the UK) are the riders... The rest are well intentioned amateurs doing their best to appear professional, but often without the necessary skill set required to carry off the tasks they have been asked to do/volunteered to do.. The professional marketing of the sport as a collective, rather than going it alone at each club in a small way, and the governance of the sport through the use of a credible operating model, is, sadly, a huge opportunity never taken up by those "well meaning amatuers". Hence, being insular, working in secret, and deep mistrust is often the reputation earned in the opinion of many of it's current, fanbase, and (probably more importantly), its ex fanbase, who still follow the sport closely...
  2. Might be worth a gamble... Not many other teams have taken him on.... I will eat my hat if he doesnt deliver an 8 point average... Used to be great around Coventry I believe...
  3. I am sure Robert wouldn't want to undermine his well earned (over many years of service), status as an Aces legend..
  4. Ask anyone with even just a modicum knowledge of Speedway about KK...
  5. Given it is British Speedway, could Chris Holder sign for both Peterborough and Kings Lynn? Same bloke in charge of both so technically some synergy to it... Could maybe do a double change and bring in Batch too for both teams... Worth asking Phil Morris?
  6. When he was good he would often be crap... And that was over 10 years ago... Now he just cuts the "good bit" out...
  7. Watched him ride in the Polish Pairs on Sunday and he was his "consistent best"... Some promoters need their bumps felt dont they?...
  8. He wont have earned enough to get as far as Rotherham....
  9. It's not like you dont have fair warning with KK is it?. "It depends which KK turns up"... "He could be a steal on that average".... Etc. Etc. Etc.... Until you hear... "Get Chris Holder in"....
  10. That was to simply cover during Covid, due to rider availability being impacted at a moments notice... And they didht allow riders to ride for more than one team in the top league... If Poland ran with guests like the UK does the sport would be finished at its current level overnight, as media and sponsors would drop it like a stone, with the fans then following suit...
  11. There would have to be a caveat to the rule obviously... "The Bomber" it could be called ..
  12. Just have a fit for purpose RR facility.. A No1 missing then every rider can take his rides up to all riders taking no more than seven rides in total, meaning, for example, the two remaining HL's could take two rides each, their own four rides, and Ht 15.. For riders lower down the team the riders above and below could take two rides each if the manager wanted.. For a number 7 missing then a No8 comes in for two of his rides and the other reserve takes the other two.. Guests just destroy the sport from ever being taking seriously by media, sponsors and fans, hence Poland would never see them as a "necessary evil"... Not a good starting point to grow the sport when guests are so fundamentally wrong if you wish the sport to be considered relevant...
  13. The Colt's racing filled the gaps well... The Triumph Owners Club was a "bit different" from the run of the mill meeting presentation.. And the National Anthem gave the meeting a bit of "gravitas".. The five and six man races were definitely good to watch and also maintained interest for at least 8 riders through the meeting.. Also noticeable was how many Aces fans were wearing club colours ranging from hats, caps to replica tops, and fleeces... The Aces seem to have got their act together off the track in this respect.. Still lots of opportunity for fan engagement, but the Aces do look like they have moved forward in this area.. The track is a huge bonus which should underpin everything else they do... A very professional set up at the Aces I would suggest...
  14. Another cracking meeting at the NSS... Got to get a GP soon surely.. The top lads tonight showed when racing together just how many lines you can use (safely), at full pelt... Brady Kurtz for a GP wild card around there (or Charles Wright), and you would have top quality entertainment guaranteed.. Crowd looked very decent too..
  15. Just warming up my old Wessie in the back garden.. Expecting a call around three....
  16. Away teams' fans too would be the biggest potential audience I would say... Going away several hundred miles on a Monday or Thursday night might not be the most appealing of things to do, even more so when the weather is 'iffy', given Speedway's possibility of a call off... Hardly any away fans attend nowadays so what an opportunity to get them watching their team from the comfort of their armchairs..
  17. In the Prem maybe, but "not allowed" anymore in the Championship... It says here......
  18. He is the only one allowed to carry the officially homologated chalk, which has been designed and patented by a former World Champ......
  19. Have they spoken, or emailed, the CEO? I am sure Mark Lemon would make "reasonable adjustments" to accommodate those who struggle with stairs...
  20. To be fair to Worrall, (and his brother), they both struggle when riding at No3... Hence when they rode for the Aces the team always came up short as usually one of them ended up there... No2 is the position in the team for both of them as off the inside gate in heat one, their starting capability can get them to the first turn in the lead, and both have the capability to ride the kerb for four laps and stay in front on a freshly prepared track where the wider lines havent yet developed... Putting either at No3 puts pressure on them, and they struggle, and with a much stronger heat leader level this year it will be compounded even more..
  21. And the Aces constantly rode bends one and two up against the fence and lost places and points... Later in the season that line will come to them but first meeting in March you wont find too much drive out there... It was a strange match in many ways.. The Tigers constantly outgated the Aces, and by some distance, then at least one of the Aces often came back to head the Tigers, (usually off bends three and four), then the Tigers passed the Ace by riding the kerb around one and two.. It was good to watch though and I am sure the Aces will be play off certainties, injuries permitting.. Dan seems most seasons to take a while to get going across all his racing, so no worries for him and what he will deliver..
  22. Really surprised how few were there... 1500-1600 maybe in total? Lovely sunny evening too, with no threat of a call off.. Fifty Four quid for two adults and two kids to sit in the Grandstand.. Twenty four quid for an adult to sit there.. More for the "padded seats"... Twenty two quid to stand on the south stand... The very top end of the pricing structure I would suggest for less than 16 mins of action... I had already paid for the PCMM so maybe others have done the same and decided to give this a miss due to cost?
  23. It will be a big boost, however history does suggest that it will only be a "novelty" bounce if the usual "nonsense" operating model manifests itself as the season progresses.. Let's hope Phil Morris can make the Premiership "credible" thus keeping fans interested enough to keep attending after the initial "first visits" of the "stars"... The sport's decline in the past 25 years or so in particular, was sharpest when the "top names," rode here and admission charges went inflation busting each year to afford them.. And as soon as Sky left the sport so did they, but the admission costs didnt come down... £24 to sit and watch the racing at the NSS is "top end" I would say when measuring VFM so at "lesser tracks" that kind of admission each week may dissuade some if what is on offer doesnt reflect the cost.. I enjoyed last night at the NSS, and look forward to going to see Emil and Nicki when they rock up, but not sure if I will repeat the visits when they come around again.. That will depend how "relevant" the Premiership will be under the new management of it. It is no doubt though a great opportunity for the Premiership and the sport as a whole so let's hope they can take it.. Historical evidence though does suggest that the custodians of the sport are often found wanting, so it will be interesting to see how they do now that they have been given several "Golden Tickets"...
