  1. ..... And changing the rules which fundamentally impact the sport without firstly clearly explaining to its paying customers why the rules have changed, the rationale used for the changes and indeed the riders the changes impact is, I would suggest, also a bit 'thick'... (Even more so when your patrons have built up a less than generous view of your competence in decision making, especially in light of the overwhelming evidence of your previous 'track record')...
  2. Agree. Leicester does get a 'bad press' when not many tracks deliver great racing... I would suggest that the reason they do get such comments is more down to the frustration of having had a 'blank canvas' with which to deliver a great track.. 'Hit the apex of the turn at speed, slide across the bend up the banking to the fence, lock the bike, straighten the wheels, and fire yourself down the straight' appears to be the one racing line. Hence many races see the riders strung out playing 'follow the leader' in an almost 'synchronised speedway' pattern.. The inside of the bends are hardly used as the speed the bikes arrive at the turns seem to make it virtually impossible to 'hold the line' and going 'in wide and out narrow' would mean the risk of a Moto x style block pass from the guy behind or worse he wipes you out as he blasts through the apex.. A shame that it cannot (or maybe just 'will not') be amended as it could be a great asset to the sport given its great infrastructure and excellent customer focused operational standards on race nights..
  3. "close to one another"??? presume being at the tapes together is included?😃
  4. Do you type wearing boxing gloves??😃
  5. I could 'guest' once or twice at Wolves now the Aces ride on a Friday....
  6. I bet they have it changed it by the time your first edition gets printed!!! 😃😃
  7. 😃 ... and that the sport will now be run with integrity dont forget!!! (but lets not tell anyone the HL list or why the reserves' tiers appear to be somewhat 'open to debate').. fair play though, if no one knows what rules you are making up as you go along then no one can accuse you of a lack of integrity when you constantly change the rules (that no one knows about) at a moments notice... 😄 A new dawn.....
  8. Correct... The mistake many on here seem to make is to follow the basic mathematic principles which were devised by the Babylonian's and then subsequently adapted by learned Egyptians, Greeks, and in more recent history, renaissance scholars... These adaptations have been developed by many nations through the ensuing centuries and millennia to deliver the current numerical system the modern civilised world uses today.. Apart from of course the 'visionary' Speedway leaders who prefer to go against conventional belief and wisdom and uses its own system of numerical logic.. Stephen Hawking would be proud...😁
  9. I would suggest that part of his thinking when moving into the 1-5 was 100% to keep the same deal should he drop down.. Probably six rides a night on bigger money? Happy days... I can see teams paying out much more this year as 'established riders' drop into reserve berths and score easy points against 'number sevens'... Well done, once again, to the BSPA...
  10. 😃 But then again, it could be just simply incompetence...? Surely not though? Especially given the scale of some of the nonsense... 😉
  11. Correct, and as they pay out approx 60k a year now in rent with no bar take, no car park take, no food take, and receive no close season revenue from use of the venue. (All of which will drive revenue weekly in the new place). I would suggest 100k a year is more than viable..
  12. I may be wrong, but didn't the rules change that each team are now solely responsible for paying their riders themselves from their home meetings?? Seem to remember that too many clubs were not getting money quickly enough from the 'home' team when they rode away, meaning too much of a delayed payment to the riders, hence this system was scrapped..
  13. Did CVS really say that the PL was "a broken product"? If so, what does that make the EL??? As the song goes "isn't it ironic".....😃
  14. Relax.... It is all part of the 'Masterplan'....😉😁
  15. I would think it is due to the fact that the promoters foresaw the issues that the top riders not coming back would bring so they have kept the info to 'themselves'. The reason being that they know that there may be several 'in the interests of speedway' decisions to be made which would be questioned by the supporters if the list had been distributed publicly and they were then seen to not follow it 100%...
  16. There we go, problem solved (file under 'custom and practice')..😃 We pretend to sign Zagar, Swindon pretend to sign Killer, Leicester pretend to sign Emil, Wolves pretend to sign Tai and KL pretend to sign NKI... They can all then use Bomber, Hans, Scott, and Rory as guests every week.... (just like every other season)......😰
  17. Could we not just re-sign Zagar just to formally declare a team, never use him and run with 'Guests' all season? We could pick and choose the best guest for each track on a weekly basis... Come on, it is speedway, there must be a rule made up (one of those we the fans havent been told about) that allows it....
  18. To be fair, that is what happens year in, year out with any averages they produce... I've mentioned before now, the year we were bottom of the league and so desperate we needed Crumpy back to keep the crowd attending such was the dissatisfaction.... To do this we had to lose Morten Risager as we would have been 'too strong'!!! So he went to Swindon, who were top of the league and at that moment in time, about 40 points ahead of us!!? A small part if me is hoping that the lack of 'top talent' is more down to a brilliantly devised masterplan to reduce costs which can down the line reduce admission charges, narrow the ability levels on track to produce closer, more competitive racing, and ultimately put in some building blocks from which to build a more positve future for the sport.... Of course a much larger part of me suspects it is yet another 'town halls' up....
  19. Agreed Aces51, plus extra programme sales and car parking fees for those that own and charge... Its time that Speedway in this country ran itself as 'British Speedway PLC' where all decisions are made for the greater good... The NFL has many positive elements as part of its business plan that the BSPA could do well to look at and adapt, if not copy...
  20. As this sport in particular has many 'generic' fans, ie 'neutrals' who attend any match as and when the fixtures appeal to them. Has no one ever considered a 'generic' season ticket? I cannot believe that many clubs get more than 100 season tickets sold looking at the overall attendance levels so surely that 20k or so isn't 'make or break' for their season...? Maybe a season ticket that allows you in to ANY meeting for say £500 quid is the answer? Could British Speedway get say 5000 fans in the country to pay £500 to enable them to watch any meeting? (maybe ex play off finals)..? If they could that would bring in 2.5 million to divide up amongst the BSPA members. 21 teams in the PL and EL would get 119k each. If the 7 NL stand alones clubs were included it would mean everyone getting nearly 90k each. (although given the different cost bases for the three leagues there would be, I am sure, some dividing of the money 'pro rata' re. the amount each club gets).. Lets face it, all tracks need each other, given the parlous state of the sport in this country so maybe this would assist everyone and truly get the three leagues working together? It would also, I would suggest mean bigger attendances, (even if many are 'neutrals'). As we know the larger the attendance, the more the atmosphere, so maybe any newbies attending would be more likely to come back after their first impression of the sport being that it has a 'reasonable' following and therefore worth revisiting...? I know that if I have paid my £500 up front I would ensure I got value for money and attended as many meetings as I could and I would imagine the number of away fans in attendance would also increase. Attend 50 meetings a year (quite achievable as Nigel often tells us that Speedway takes place most night of the week!😃) and it would be a tenner a match! As I say, it would mean the teams working closely together and I would suggest, clear central control of the money split... Not a bad thing that as Speedway in this country needs to start thinking 'globally' rather than each promoter just looking at their own operation in 'splendid isolation' and also start using the 'reach' of the sport nationally for positive growth for all rather than just a select few..
  21. Given the fact it is a new track, maybe it gives GB their best chance for years...? Plenty of behind closed doors practice for the squad from the start of the season could be a major advantage.... Not many of the Polish, Swedes or Danish top riders will have even seen the track until the race off or the final given how so few ride over here, and the Aussies will only get to see it when their teams go there.. Time to look after No1 with a clear plan I would suggest..
  22. The BSPA not clarifying rules to its customers thus keeping them in the dark lest they state the "bleedin' obvious" inconsistencies? Now that is surprising isn't it?😃 The rules that have been published open to all kinds of interpretation, contradiction, challenge and therefore, one can only assume, manipulation? Now that is another surprise isn't it?😃 Stadiums five sixths empty again next season? No surprise there I would suggest...😒
  23. Watch it using my 'Android box' on the TV.... Its a great site.... Thanks for all the work you put in... Just watched a 'Golden Hammer' from 91.... Nielsen, Jan O, Ermolenko, Hancock, Hamill, Havelock, Screen, etc...
  24. Stockport is less than a tenner in a taxi away.... Maybe just far enough too to not notice the event so much and hike the prices.... A couple of premier inns and a good number of privately ran establishments... Didsbury, Withington and Parrs Wood too also have a fair few fair sized privates, (oo er missus!) Travelodge, and B+B's.... Again, all within 15 mins drive...
  25. All teams start relatively 'equal' at the beginning of every season. And then every year the bottom team always finishes miles behind the top of the league team..! Usually because the rules don't allow them to strengthen up sufficiently after it becomes abundantly clear (mainly after about a month) that they are not strong enough to compete.. A great system to use to run the sport...😃
