Wow, you must be truly deluded then or have never flown from an airport. Would love to see your breakdown of costs. It's also a real misconception that flying to a Poland GP is cheaper overall, because of the same said 'hidden' costs of budget airlines, airport parking/extras, distance to airport, hotels at airport etc. Poland has very much caught up with hotel prices. It's okay googling flights or using Skyscanner, what is your cost before getting to said destination. If you can get from Workington to Tenerife for under £250 you are a miracle worker, would be more like £350, then similar priced hotels on top at least £200 (i've looked these are the cheapest). 2 nights in Coventry Premier Inn is less than £200. Sick of replying with the same FACTS now, I'm struggling to understand how you don't get how it works?
-
Do you actually believe it's cheaper to go to tenerife rather than Rugby? Or still trying to wind the previous poster up, I'm intrigued haha.
-
I can see why you'd think this, but it happens in the real world.. Last october I actually got flown out to munich by one of our international telecomms vendors and spent 3 days at Oktoberfest striking out a new contract, even though it's a different scenerio, unnecessary things happen.

Think you're talking a little twaddle yourself, £31 to tenerife? Maybe from a southern airport if you book pretty far in advance. This is what draws people into cheap holidays. Flights in 3 months time are £100 from Manchester. 3/4 days parking at Manchester airport alone would be at least £90, then you pay for seat reservations, baggage and £50 round trip in fuel at least. Likely £200 at least before you even get to tenerife. I'm not bothered where they host it could be on the moon for all I care, but surely it doesn't make an Einstein to work this out? Surely the topic can be moved on now. It might not be cheap but they can host where they want, but if it stops chilidsh promoters walking out then so be it.

Unfortunately we had the same feeling at Workington season after season after Tony Mole left the club. The constant cry for wolf by owners, incompetent in workington's case, without proper business plans. I hope that saturday night racing helps the cause going forward, but it has this inevitable feeling of 'when not if' it closes. Hopefully that date is some way off. It's going to be harder than ever to keep tracks open that are sorely for racenights only, and not used by other means.

Richie has some kind of business converting VW campers, probably doesn’t rely on speedway to make a living
-
-
Looks like Richie is done with speedway from his latest post!
-
Ha that was quick! Someone must be reading, there is certain other stuff on there too re 2024 that isn't exactly hidden
-
Not sure, but the BSPL site has uploaded the Stags logo to it this week along with adding this page... https://britishspeedway.co.uk/calendar/2024-scunthorpe-stags-fixtures-and-results/
-
Are Scunthorpe Stags making a reappearance in the NDL in 2024?
-
Must of missed that one, I knew he had left Tarnow. Hope it isn't Vissing, wouldn't mind if it was Jorgensen though Kenneth Hansen is another too, but he rides in the Longtrack GP's now.
-
I think James might have given it away a bit when he said he may be required to take up a mechanic role in the pits next year instead of doing the team manager role. i.e someone coming back to ride in the UK who doesn't have a mechanic over here. Rene Bach? Rene also hasn't re-signed in Poland as of yet

It’s called ‘No brakes, no fear. The Official British Speedway Podcast On the usual platforms, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google etc. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/podcast/

Correct, Ian Brannan confirmed these dates on the latest Official podcast
-
3pm on a Saturday, as there is no lighting
-
I can’t see us changing our race day to a Sunday, will remain as Saturday’s I would of thought
-
Might have to run the final at Northside as a one off final at this rate The track is in mint condition and will be running all winter, there's a lot to be said for having a 100% shale track Seriously though, what will they do in a weeks time, when it still likely hasn't been ran?
-
Is this a potential change of Race day then?, because the Comets ride on a Saturday currently and always have

Just to add to this with some geeky calculations too, based on a minimum wage worker. In 2018, you’d have to work 2.04 hours (£7.83ph) to get into speedway. If it’s £20 in 2024, you’d have to work 1.92 hours (£10.42ph) to get in. I know there’s a lot of other life costs increased also, not least interest rates. But it gives a slight perspective on entrance fee increases.
-
I think it was £16 in 2018 last time we were at this level. £20 will be reasonable imo, although I can only imagine what some people will say when it’s announced it’s £20. But even non-league National League football is £20 to get in these days. Unfortunately some casual fans won’t realise the actual costs to put a meeting on.
-
What are Championship admission prices these days, £20/21?
-
Would love to see Stevie at Workington
-
This is the team I'd like to see, purely based on Riders I like and that I think would be available, nothing else. Who knows what will happen, but it's exciting times to be a Comets fan again! 1. Craig Cook 2. Alfie Bowtell 3. Tom Brennan 4. Connor Bailey 5. Steve Worrall 6. Luke Harrison 7. Sam McGurk 37.22 Steve Worrall did actually sign for the Comets for 2019, which never happened.
