I must be missing something here? Ricky Wells has rode consistently well for quite a while now, one of the best gaters I've seen and like Craig Cook has stepped up another level this season. Very good signing for Rye, will be one of their top performers in most meetings.

King's Lynn V Belle Vue - 19 April 2017

Cookie is missing Comets trip to Edinburgh on 5th May, because he's doing a GP Qualifier on the 6th, he mentioned it in the live Facebook video the other day, i'd imagine Danny King is the other rider picked. -
Berwick 2017 50th Year
Marksman replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The Berwick promotion should just bite the bullet and re-declare the line up now before other teams start making changes, or are forced to due to injuries etc. Riders will soon be hard to find. Something similar to this line up would improve things; and those riders will be available on a Saturday Lewis Bridger 8.53 Joe Jacobs 5.36 Claus Vissing 6.80 Kevin Doolan 6.99 Justin Sedgmen 7.60 Zach Wajknecht 2.63 Ryan Blacklock 2.00 Weak at reserve, but most teams are. -

Richard Hall is guesting for Rob Branford -
Since when have clubs ever charged people to attend a meet the riders event or watch a Practice Session though? I think that's the point here.

You probably sat and wondered how long it would take for someone to post something because you know what's coming is realistic the way the sport is. I mainly posted because all I see is praise of what Glasgow are doing, in terms of fan, social media involvement, and overall improvements that is true, but what is blatantly obvious is they are paying riders over the odds, charging the public more because of this and probably need a crowd of well over a thousand to break even, which has already been mentioned by the promotion. No matter who the owners are, once crowds drop slightly and they are running at a loss, no one will want to fund the speedway out of their own pockets. If Glasgow are still running in 2 years time in the same way they are now I and a lot of others will be shocked. Unfortunately speedway is not like football where people will still go whatever price they are paying. Speedway is usually family sport and this could cost someone £50+ (without any food costs) every week to take a family of four. Cruelly, sometimes Glasgow's own success can be a downfall too, what happens later in a season, where a team visits who are running to a budget and you know it's going to be a one sided 65+ result will those occasional fans still attend? If not, as seen at other tracks around the league, unfortunately they soon get out of the habit of going.

Glasgow even charging fans to watch P + P and the meet the riders event now. They will soon price themselves out of the game once the novelty wears off. Managed to charge me £3 for a portion of awful chips last Sunday!
-
The rule was changed at the AGM so the club the rider has ridden for the longest have preference. So for Craig Cook, if he signs for Belle Vue, they would have priority over Workington. If a rider was riding for 2 new clubs, It would then go on which league the team he's owned by rides in.

James Shares wasn't scoring double figures in the Premier League though. It would not surprise me if Dan Bewley is averaging more than double of what Shanes is at the end of the season.

Championship Teams Comparison Time
Marksman replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We've been touted as one of the top teams pre-season for the last 2/3 years, that's never gone to plan has it. Maybe underdog or dark horse status may do the trick I think quite a few of our riders will improve on their average next year, with Ty Proctor surprising a lot of people. -
Wouldn't put it past them to announce Seb Ulamek next
-
Yeah should be a 4.
-
Graversen is 3.83, no one could of predicted that one!
-
I'm just guessing as I can't see Sheffield getting it wrong, none of the averages on the BSPA website include a British reduction i.e. Bewley (4.00) is 3.90
-
I did think that, but it's the only explanation, it could also apply to British under 21 riders
-
Josh Bates is 4.89 with a British Reduction The team should come to 39.97 in total

Last nights fans forum was very positive, very pleased with the team and the turnout was fantastic. Having Craig Cook back is a massive boost for the sport in the town. Having 7 UK based riders this season will be a relief for the promotion. But the bigger positives are the new changes to the overall race night experience, including a new onsite cafe open before and after the meeting, a press conference in the bar after the meeting and the new deal with the rugby club which is going to bring more money in through Laura's catering business. This looks to have secured the future of the club for the foreseeable. Well done to the Comets promotion and Workington Town RLFC! Different teams are going to have to different strengths and weaknesses, depending how they are built. Most of these will probably balance themselves out throughout the team. If Peterborough build a balanced 1-7 with Holder as No1, they probably won't have a number 1 whoever it is at the time, capable of winning all 3 of Heats 11,13 and 15 in an away meeting. You could back and forward for a while of advantages and disadvantages of each team in the league.
-
Hardly terrible, Peterborough have signed Simon Lambert who's coming back from a long lay off on a similar average to also ride at second string, i know who the more talented rider is!
-
Your missing the main man, CC111 Replace Cook with Wells and Greaves (2.32) with Busch and I think you have the team. Unfortunately I think Ricky Wells will be at Edinburgh.
-
Definitely wouldn't have Kus, gives up too easily. Charles Wright would be a much better option on a lower average
-
Campton? I'd probably have him back to be fair, but it's a numbers game, and working the teams out he didn't seem to fit.
-
If it's not going to be Craig Cook at number 1, we'd be best going with Wells as number 1 and a stronger reserve pairing. 1 Craig Cook 9.83 2 Dan Bewley 3.90 3 Stuart Robson 7.09 4 Joe Jacobs 5.36 5 Ricky Wells 7.92 6 Nathan Greaves 2.32 7 Matt Williamson 3.58 Total 40.00 1 Ricky Wells 7.92 2 Max Clegg 4.23 3 Rene Bach 7.53 4 Gino Manzares 5.43 5 David Bellego 7.63 6 Tom Perry 3.67 7 Matt Williamson 3.58 Total 39.99

Those list of averages are confusing, but the Comets Management confirmed that Campton would start on 4.67 for 2017 as the lowest average has dropped to 4. Nielsen would start on 4.19, Sissis and Castagna will both be 4.
