  1. Newcastle's meeting against Lakeside is on Saturday, so Aarnio will be riding for the Comets tomorrow.
  2. Ha maybe!, but I never saw the so called problems being reported in the first place, it's all hear say and hush hush when it comes to this sport, just like attendances...
  3. Yes we don't offer bribes... Oh, you mean the riders, maybe we could afford to pay if Godfrey allowed us to run Home meetings
  4. Tero Aarnio would be a great choice of guest for the Comets for Dan, has already scored 29+2 in 3 meetings at Scunthorpe this season including 15 when guesting for us earlier this season.
  5. Funny thing is that they now have a posted a new headline, with the following report! Good old news & star! Comets boss Tony Jackson delighted after win over Edinburgh Monarchs Workington Comets boss Tony Jackson couldn’t hide his delight after his side crowned a stellar team performance with a nine-point win over table-topping Edinburgh. The Monarchs have been the early pace-setters in the SGB Championship, leading the league with 26 points, but Comets dealt with everything they threw at them to take all three points and send them packing without even a consolation point. The fact that the result followed a very impressive win away at Redcar on Thursday night made it even sweeter as Workington moved into the top four despite having raced the joint-fewest meetings in the division. Jackson said: “It’s been a very satisfying few days. "Everybody contributed and there really was some exciting racing. Mason Campton was chuffed to bits to beat Ricky Wells in the opening heat and James Sarjeant is gradually getting used to the place. “It would have been a big comedown if we’d won at Redcar then lost this and this lot are no pushovers, they’re top of the league.” The beaming Comets boss declared Thomas Jorgensen his rider of the night and said he was starting to show the form that made him a target for the club for years. He said: “He was sensational; that’s the Thomas Jorgensen we signed and you can see now he’s finally got some speed. “He’s struggled with his engines but, to be fair, he’s spent some money on them and when he’s out front he looks so fast, classy and stylish.” Meanwhile, Comets’ trip to Peterborough next Monday has been pushed back to a 7pm start. 3 September 2018 11:01AM
  6. That's got to be one of the earliest finishes to a season i can remember, the Comets have still got a potential 13 Home meetings to run! Just shows how imbalanced our season has been.
  7. Looking at the International League calendar and club fixtures, Ostrow don't have a meeting next weekend, So Nicolai will be available. Rybnik meeting is on Sunday, but as ours isn't a rescheduled meeting, Dan will be riding for us. Bydgoszcz are riding on Sunday, so Rene could be missing which would really make us weak at reserve, but who knows?
  8. Line ups for Sunday... Workington ‘Thomas Armstrong’ Comets... 1 Nicolai Klindt 7.48 2 Rasmus Jensen 6.40 3 Dan Bewley 6.44 4 Mason Campton 6.26 5 Ty Proctor (captain) 7.25 6 Kyle Bickley 2.00 7 Rene Bach 6.11 Scunthorpe ‘Henderson Insurance’ Scorpions 1 Steve Worrall (captain) 8.77 2 Rider Replacement for injured Stefan Nielsen 7.15 3 Jason Garrity 7.32 4 Jake Allen 6.78 5 Josh Auty 8.17 6 Danny Phillips 2.00 7 Gino Manzares 4.21
  9. Torrential rain shower just hit, and now stopped but has put a lot of water down
  10. The rugby World Cup is next September in Japan, so they won’t be having their usual autumn internationals later in the year. I imagine the stadium will be hosting World Cup warm up matches in July/August. The September date will be a one off I’d think.
  11. But you know it's True I wonder why our Friday Home fixtures for August are now back in the calendar? In other news, somewhat coincidentally Mr Worrall is back from injury now, so Mr Godfrey doesn't need any guests.
  12. Don't know where this Rule about no GP riders in the Championship came about, but it certainly does not exist in the SCB Regulations!
  13. Don't forget the grandstand has 1200 seats, and often looks at least half full to me? and often more like the Glasgow meeting 2 weeks ago
  14. The teams I posted are just in order of averages, not actual riding order.
  15. Comets are at full strength on Friday, new green sheet averages are also now effective for Friday. Main changes are that Rasmus Jensen moves to reserve for the Comets, and Doolan moves to Number 1 for Berwick. Rene Bach 7.53 Ty Proctor 7.18 Nicolai Klindt 7.13 Dan Bewley 6.34 Mason Campton 6.08 Rasmus Jensen 5.92 Kyle Bickley 2.00 Kevin Doolan 6.85 Aaron Summers 6.66 David Howe 6.06 Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen 5.97 Jye Etheridge 5.88 Daniel Gappmaier 5.79 Theo Pijper 4.40
  16. I think you might be 50% right with that prediction...
  17. Just looking at the World Cup fixtures, England will most likely be in the Quarter Final of the World Cup to be played at 1900 on Friday 6th July. That would no doubt have a big impact on the crowd for the Berwick meeting next Friday.
  18. Clutching at straws for today's moan Jenga, you can tell we are doing well... BWD's 28 day contract started wef 23rd April, so add 28 days to that and it covers until Monday, not hard to work out!
  19. Grajczonek, Howarth and Wells announced as the first 3 joining the 7 Comets for the Cumberland Open, shaping up to be a cracking opening meeting.
  20. From what I've seen of Kyle Bickley ride, he looks very much in control, and has the style of a certain Carl Stonehewer. With the fantastic backing and people he has around him, I'm sure he will go far in the sport.
  21. We will have plenty of improvers in our full line up for sure. Mason deserves his place, added over 1 point to his starting average and stepped up when many others failed last season.
  22. Workington soon to be 3 of course, Stonehewer, Kildemand and Cook.
  23. 2 point starting average still stands for newcomers from the National League, so Kyle Bickley will be a 2.00
  24. So our request to change race night to Fridays was rejected. But Glasgow and Scunthorpe are fine they can move to Fridays! Whole thing stinks to me, must be good having someone from your club on the BSPA management committee. Sticking with Saturday nights isnt going to go well, competing against 10 weeks where Craig Cook will be riding on tv in the Grand Prix, yes youll be amazed how many wouldnt bother going and saving their cash. Add in all the other things and events attend on a Saturday, the Comets management have really got a big task on their hands to improve crowds.
