  1. Looking at the BSPA website there's no mention of this match. Have I missed something here? Surely the old boy hasn't called it off already due to the weather forecast? Surely not that team GB are in the WTC final???????? If it is because of team GB in the final I see it's being held locally in Bydgoszcz in Poland over 900 miles away!
  2. Anyone that thinks Lakeside will run a NL team next year, unless a double header with a EL match [not that the EL will run next year] you're living in a dream world, like many many other people on this forum. The debate on £12 entry is a good one. I think its expensive also. It's okay for Bryn to support the management, which he always does, he usually gets a lift and doesn't pay to get in or for a programme and probably gets a free cupps or two to! Not that I have a problem with that Bryn before you challenge the statement. I know you do a lot of work for speedway in general and that has to be applauded. All I'm saying is £12 plus a couple of quid for a proggy is expensive. Its that price at Central Park and is it worth the money? I'm fully aware rents have to be paid, riders travel, points money, ref, paramedic etc etc, but perhaps the landlords of many stadiums up and down the country need to reduce their charges they charge the speedway. If you look at the standard of riders currently in the EL the admission money alone is way to high, that should be £12, not the £17 you currently have to pay to watch Lakeside. But of course we all know a lot of clubs are losing money. Even by reducing the entry, numbers really don't increase, you only have to look at Birmingham! Community, thats where speedway lacks. A massive Polish community in and around east London and Essex. The expats from Poland have their local radio stations, newspapers. Anything about Lakeside mentioned? Well several of my work colleagues who are Poles tell me not, nothing, diddly squat on speedway. Do the promoters really go out into the local area's and promote there speedway team? Many a promoter won't give out free or reduced tickets incase it's a regular that uses that ticket. What I would say is when Arena Essex opened its doors for free against Poole a few years back-thats when we had quality riders in the EL- the place was packed, the most I've ever seen at Arena/Lakeside. Perhaps pricing has something to do with it, the quality of the riders and racing then follow through.
  3. No Luke Bowen for the Rockets. Can Rye turn their season around? Well no in a nutshell.........
  4. Well the Stummo car is being dusted down as we speak by the chauffeur (that's the Mrs) and I'm looking forward to a days racing, weather permitting of course. As for the gaps between meetings, dear oh dear. Bring a book, read the speedway star, get a cuppa or a beer, talk to people! The people who get to the track a hour early, what do they do? You'll be wanting the meeting to start at your convience next!
  5. PA system is crap Bryn. My last visit was against Stoke and wondering around the stadium it was exactly the same as it was for their very first bank holiday meeting in 2013.
  6. I'm afraid I've lost interest at Kent, like many others. A new club, waining interest, bad presentation and a promotion who will hopefully be replaced next year!
  7. Re the post about the fast track riders in the Elite League. It was put forward,so I believe, it would fast track riders would go into the Premier League, but the PL promotes chucked it out and the EL took on the mantle.
  8. Yes works same way going out. It virtually only a couple of minutes from the A1. Was planning this one, but with a combination of weather and a lousy promotion, team manager and team I'll probably not bother.....
  9. No Garrity. A big thrashing I suspect now. Dodgy burger I guess. Garrity Ruled Out of Peterborough Clash The Silver Ski Rockets have been rocked by the late withdrawal of Jason Garrity ahead of tonights Premier League fixture at Peterborough. The Cardiff GP reserve has been laid low with food poisoning, with the Rockets forced to operate Rider-Replacement as cover. More positively, Rye will welcome back Mathieu Tresarrieu, who was committed to a World Longtrack Qualifier in France at the weekend, and will have a second former Panther on show in Jason Bunyan, who missed Marchs successful visit to the Showground due to his preparations for the Auckland GP. Rye House team: Luke Bowen, Steve Boxall, Jason Bunyan, Jason Garrity R/R, Edward Kennett (captain), Stefan Nielsen, Mathieu Tresarrieu Peterborough team: Nicki Barrett, Lasse Bjerre, Lewis Blackbird, Ales Dryml, Ryan Fisher, Joe Jacobs, Ulrich Ostergaard (captain)
  10. Think throwing tres out is a bit harsh. He rode well at Ipswich and Sheffield. Bowen will ride for Rye as long as Len is promoter. Boxall is a good second string, but yes can understand your statement about replacing him. Will be interesting to see with Anders Mellgren riding in Lukes meeting if Len brings him in. I do feel sorry for the team, not there fault Len totally mucked up. Jason Bunyan for me is the one I feel for. Chucked out as being the captain, don't believe he resigned, yet still rides with as much determination as ever. Len has gotta move over and let another person run Rye House, that's providing Len don't charge a arm and a leg which knowing Len he will. So either next year we will run with the same team or no speedway at all in my view.
  11. That was Pete Jordison. A Rye stalwart. That was one great bit of PR. At least Rye House have got something right this year but not for the Rye faithful but the visitor lol
  12. The story so far this season has been I believe down to several things. Firstly Kennett hasn't performed as expected. Come to think about it, he's gone downhill since the incident at Lakeside a couple of seasons ago. Not a number 1 in this league. Boxall is a good second string but to much expected plus the usual bilke issues we come to expect. Tres I think has done okay tbh. He's done what I expected, really good on the bigger tracks. Luke Bowen, 10 year servant a very loyal servant but stale at Rye. Needs to move on. Jason Garrity, good second string, 100% trier but perhaps he thinks he's better than he is. Jason Bunyan, is riding well guys. He's consistant scoring points at reserve, was excellent so I'm told at Sheffield. Stefan Nielsen will take time bed in, but neatly had the beating of Rene Bach tonight. So what's wrong with the team. Len Silver needs to explain why he's put together a team for the second season running way below the points limit. It's cheap and they need a out and out number 1. It never generally works when a rider returns to a club he's previously ridden for. Kennett a classic example. He didn't exactly set Berwick alight last year, the signs were there but the old boy Silver ignored them. I don't blame any individual rider, the team was put together by Silver. Mr Motivator, the boring lacklustre stopwatch bloke should resign. He's the team manager and in any other business he'd go. We know he's only got the job because he's Lens chauffeur for the away matches. Total crap at Rye House and I really fear for the future at Hoddesfon unless Len moves to one side.
  13. As it happens the racing isn't to bad, infact quite good, but everything, else well.............and meeting usually over by about 9ish
  14. Another club in Peterborough who seem to change promoters every couple of years. Wish we could have a change of promoter at Rye House and have a enthustic team manager who currently is probably one of the most boring and demotivating people in speedway! Thinking about it that's why I've become Victor Meldrew of Rye House.
  15. As I've said before I've not been bothering either. Len really needs to smell the roses here. The place is awfully run at the moment and more and more people will turn there back on Rye House. I hope for the sake of the Workington fans it's on as they've an away fixture headache of the highest degree. The sooner Hazel & Len move on and allow fresh blood to run the speedway the better, but realistically that ain't going happen.
  16. This’ll be another early call off, with the pub winning the day. Fixture problems are becoming evident once again and especially as this is another Saturday night track, so either expect a double header with Redcar on the 30th July or another Wednesday night at Hoddesdon. Although looking at the BBC forecast for Saturday, the mighty never wrong Stummo may be wrong in his predication. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2646807 The decisions to call of some of this year’s fixtures at Rye have been to say the least questionable. Last Saturday was a rather nice day I seem to recall, as have some of the other cancelled matches, where Stummo ends up supping a few beers down my local. People get out of the habit of going and don’t basically come back, which is a shame, but as I’ve stated many times Rye House is dead of any real atmosphere, food, beer, presentation etc. So my prediction for Saturday night is a few pints of Spitfire or similar ale whether Rye is on or off…..happy days
  17. Well looks like I missed I good meeting. Got both the Kent and Eastbourne predications wrong :-)
  18. Becoming Victor Meldrew and not going to Kent tonight. Went last week and the racing was, well, not very good. With travel costs, poor presentation, [just like Rye House] admission and no Lambert I just don't fancy it. Hardly missed a meeting there last year, like many others becoming disorientated with speedway in general. Its a great shame as I've been a speedway supporter for many many years. Last season we had the Mason/Compton/Kirby shenanigans,Silver need to change the lower team end of the team this season seems strange.I thought young Luke Harris was worthy of a reserve spot. Wish I lived nearer Wolverhampton, that's where i'd be every Tuesday to go and watch Cradley each week. Good race track and fantastic presentation, thats all I want, is that so much to ask for? Young Ben Morley's form seems to have dipped in the last few weeks so lets hope he's on top form tonight. Mason, Chessell and Aaron Baseby will need to be winning races with the reserves scoring a few. Rose, Cockle and to a lesser extent Widman and Owen will need to score points and with R/R for Darren Mallett could be there weak link. So the armchair supporter who has decided to watch Uncle Bob's lot on the tele instead of Kent predicts a Kent win and for the record a Eastbourne win to.
  19. Certaiy they were the rumours at Lakeside last Friday, let's hope it's just a rumour and nothing else,
  20. Most of the riders are nice out of their working environment. Tres rode very well at ippo the other night, probably his best meeting of the season. A combination of a former track and a track with some dirt in it. Bunyan also looked fast. As did Kennett, Boxall, Garrity and to a certain extent do did Bowen. Rye has produced good racing overall this year, but think how much better a bit more dirt at Rye would benifit the riders and the paying public? That's a win win situation surely? But of course the old codger won't be bothered about entertainment, presentation, quality food, draft beer, tiding up the stadium, getting each race sponsored, changing the team etc. It's hard to beleive this is the same promoter from a few years ago. Time is catching us all up. It really is time for a major major clear out. Perhaps the rumours about the go kart track being made bigger and swallowing up the speedway track are true hence the old boy is slowely winding the old place down.
  21. Wow! That's going to make such a difference. The new captain will get all the other riders going, lift the spirits of the other 6 riders. Yer dream on. Silver has totally lost it, sick to death of saying it. Didn't go to Rye House last night, spent the evening in my local. Think that's it for me now at Rye House. So that's another £18 lost each week now out of Silvers pocket. Oh and the snotty Hazels pocket to. Grrrrrrrrrr
  22. Have to say the announcer Craig Saul does a excellent job. He does try to give as much information as possible. When there is a long delay he's seen running into the pits to grab a rider or two for a interview. So why not employ a roving mike man? The guy at Cradley Heath alone probably adds people on the gate. Oh for presentation of riders on there bikes before the meeting, a proper centre green draw (notice the 50-50 draw figure gets lower every week) a programme that's different year on year (been the same since 2002) a team manager with some guts and determination, it's not a lot to ask for, or is it?
  23. BSPA site says Somerset 3 points Rye House Nil yet they were at Edinburgh. Utterly useless!
  24. Spot on Shadders. I'd have been at Edinburgh for this, but the idiot of a promoter we have agreed to Redcar's request to cancel the Redcar match on Thursday. I'd booked time of work, but certainly will not be making a one off trip to Edinburgh. Funny isn't it, Glasgow would change this Saturday's fixture because they were on a tour, says it all really
  25. So it’s the match of the season at Rye House this Saturday night, the longest day the 21st June! How the Rockets fans look forward to seeing the Glasgow Tigers. How time flies it only seem last week that the Tigers of Glasgow were in town. With the Rockets on a run of fantastic form, certainly the form team of the season thus far, sitting top of the league and I can’t see anything other than a big Rye House win here. In the real world I’m asking myself can I be bothered after seeing Glasgow last week, to go and see Glasgow again this week? What bad planning by Hinge & Bracket! At the moment the weather forecast is fine for Saturday, so looks like Stummo will be down my local , unless I can be persuaded otherwise
