Bombers Pending Statement
szkocjasid replied to KevAustin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I still insist for the changes to be made Harris HAD to have agreed to it. If Leicester said, sorry we're dropping you, but Peterborough have a team spot for you and Harris said, "sod it, I'll just race for Glasgow. Then Peterborough wouldn't have a replacement for Worrall, so he can't leave to go to Leicester, so Leicester wouldn't be in a position to drop Harris. -
I'm sure it would be easier for British youngsters to get team places if the asset system wasn't used, or used like in Poland / football. There would be a lot less of clubs flying in Aussies to gain an asset, when they could save air fares by using Brits, with no loan fees to worry about.

If they turned this final into a Nigel Pearson memorial & tried to raise money for the Ben Fund, something I'm sure Nigel would have been keen on (& his family happy with) do you think the riders & clubs would make an effort put it on out of respect for Nige?

Newcastle v Leicester 12th June 2022
szkocjasid replied to justathought's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Watching this meeting now & it really is hard to watch. Newcastle were awful, the track didn't produce good racing, it's no surprise they didn't last the season. Very dissapointing as I had enjoyed many visits to Newcastle over the years. Never was a good track for overtaking, but I guess you knew that going in & hopes for a close score at least. One thing about the comments of Leicester's wage bill being so much (one reason they moved up to the Prem possibly) why didn't they give Joe T a r/r outing, they could announce its to give him track time / find his form, even if secretly it was to save money. Also found the commentator treating the Thompson's as one, when Joe had a bad ride made a comments about then being busy - but Dan was riding well. Feels like I've read so many comments on the forum about "both Thompsons struggling etc" as if they're the same standard, when Dan had been doing better. I certainly don't remember a similar thing happening to Richie & Steve Worrall. -
British Final 2023
szkocjasid replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I would have to disagree with the British U21 Champion being seeded to the final, it's supposed to be for the top 16 Brits (who want to ride), of they are good enough they'll qualify. You could get a situation where the 16th best rider is a 22 year old, not getting picked as he was too old to compete in the U-21s. I would certainly prefer qualifiers to decide the finalists, that would be my priority far before having a 3 round series. -
British Final 2023

I'm surprised they didn't learn from last year & hold the British Final early enough to allow a re-staging before Cardiff if postponed? -

Fabulous race, thought the commentator would have sounded more excited by it? -
Now Berwick have changed to Lambert guesting, shows the benefits of those in authority reading the forum to spot errors made. No reason why they shouldn't read them, pick the best ideas & ignore everything else!

Redcar v Edinburgh. 11/08/2023. 7.30 pm
szkocjasid replied to pvm's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What about Northern based riders like Greg Blair (before he was injured), Danny Phillips (must have a 2.00 ave) or Sam McGurk? Next time any British riders bemoan lack of opportunities, Edinburgh should be quick to reply with how many turned down a team place with them! -

Ryan Kinsley must be the best 2.00 left, they could also sign Harrison though, he's only guesting for Redcar! -

I've read multiple times on here that Boughen will be going to Glasgow, but can't see how he will fit in their team? I got the impression Pijper's place was secure (long term plan) and can't see them dropping a 3.6 rider for Boughen. Also is Boughen that much better than Pijper? They have similar averages in the NL. If Pijper was dropped (& still on a 2.00 ave) I'm sure Edinburgh would snap him up. -
Rule 012.4.2 c) says "the guest must be in a current team declaration and have an established MA. " As Borke doesn't have an MA, have Berwick made a mistake?

I'm surprised Wood has lasted this long, I think many assumed he was a brief signing till they found their preferred 2.00 rider. Can't be Jack Smith he's got a 3.00 average. Should sign Ashton Boughen when he turns 16. -

Lost to Woffinden, Musielak, Pickering & Ellis. Didn't score great but also didn't lose to anyone that would shock you! -

Must be due to riding in the NL, same as Steve Boxall who guested for Berwick before signing for their Champ team? -
Ipswich Vs Kings Lynn August 10th

They'll have good guests to chose from at least. Only one rider in the league with a higher average (Jenkins). -

Both team managers have made howlers imo Can't believe Ipswich didn't use Hume in heat 8, knowing Hagon HAD to be in that heat! Precident had previously been set that a number 6 can come into heat 8 if RS is injured! Even worse was Lynn using a tac sub in a 3 rider race against Sayfutdinov? Mountain would have gotten the same result as Klindt! Are they trying to lose or just have no clue tactically? -

Dan T was on great form, so bad news for Ipswich & Plymouth. Get well soon Dan -

If Ipswich don't have a number 8, they'll have to complete 4 heats with just one rider! -
Are Ipswich really on a roll though? 3 of their 4 wins have come against Peterborough & Kings Lynn who everyone beats. Granted they did get a great win at Leicester. Ipswich could be in a similar position to Belle Vue, they've ridden more than most so could also be twiddling their thumbs. No-one will avoid picking Ipswich as it's 1st vs 4th anyway. Would be ironic if Belle Vue's reward for finishing top was being drawn against the team they most wanted to avoid (if Ipswich finish 4th). All of your comments make perfect sense, but still think it'll take Sheffield under performing for Ipswich to finish 4th. But it's not a foregone conclusion.

You know things are bad when there's a rider (Laguta) who's not injured, scheduled to be there & listed in the pre-match teams, but people are wanting confirmation he's going to be there before turning up! -
Wolves v Leicester Prem 7th August 2023
szkocjasid replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Personally I see no issue with draws & think aren't last heat deciders exciting anyway? But if they want a winner on the night, I'd rather they go whole hog & give 2 points to the superheat winner & 0 to the loser. Just have wins & losses. I don't understand the logic of not wanting draws, but still having draws? Or even 3 points for a win, 0 for a loss. Then 2/1 in the superheat, means 3 points awarded each match, but a proper win is better than a superheat win? -
I honestly think Ipswich's I only chance is if Sheffield don't complete their home fixtures. I'd say Ipswich would have a fair chance over Wolves or Leicester, but Belle Vue look likely to finish top. Since I dislike play-offs to decide league titles, I'd be quite delighted if a team that finished 5th (4th at cut-off date) won the league

I did wonder if Starke would pick up his scores after dropping to number 7. But not a great start against Redcar.

I'll stick with my earlier suggestion of signing Clegg. Meaning Clegg, Bowtell or Dan T would be at reserve.
