  1. So Wolves vs Sheffield being postponed could strengthen Belle Vue for their clash against Ipswich - astonishing how things can work out in speedway!
  2. I feel for Robbo, especially being a Rye House fan. But Glasgow needed to race as soon as they can (rider availability withstanding) with the trophy final & potentially a play-off final to race too!
  3. Well since the exact same thing happened last year with Poole sitting waiting for the Leicester vs Scunthorpe QF to be completed, I can't see why it would change now! If they didn't learn from their mistakes last year, what makes you think they'll learn from them now? Not a fan of play-offs (think league leaders should be champs) but if there here make it top 2/4/8/16 etc. qualify!
  4. Would it not make sense if before heat 10 only the winning team could ask for a track inspection, then after heat 10 only the losing team could ask for a track inspection? That way you'd know it was due to track conditions & not hoping for a postponement / declared result!
  5. Problem with making sure both legs have equal amount of races is: 1) if a match in cancelled after 14 heats due to rain, do you re-run the whole meeting again? 2) if Glasgow got to heat 10 & was then cancelled, can't expect Poole to advertise a 10 heat 2nd leg & expect the same amount of fans to turn up!
  6. After I had posted I remembered Morris was 5th in the averages!
  7. Not really, the dates & tracks for the four matches were already decided! The final finishing order only decided who went where when!
  8. As soon as I saw Nick Morris was injured I thought "I hope they give Richie Worrall heat 13" but expected they wouldn't! Reasons I thought that would be the right move. 1) giving the fans more value for money, seeing the best riders against each other more often. Surely similar quality of riders meeting means closer racing? 2) for a financial point if view, assuming Worrall is paid more per point than his second string / reserve team mates, why give him the easier rides & increase your wages? 3) the humanitarian part of me thinks it's nicer to give stronger riders hard rides & weaker riders easier rides 4) Leicester had won on aggregate at that stage
  9. Personally don't agree with extending the cut-off date, they've had from March to September to race 7 home meetings, if you can't manage that - tough! You may miss out on the play-offs. However if you're good enough you can still make the top 4 (as Leicester have done) with 2 home matches to go!
  10. Mountain beat Masters, Thomsen, Castagna, Fredriksen (x2), Hook & Sarjeant. Only lost to Pickering. Clegg beat Castagna, Fredriksen, Hook (x3), Sarjeant (x2). Lost to Pickering, Thomsen & Hook. No contest between the two of them for man of the match imo!
  11. I don't like play-offs & think table toppers should be crowned champions. However the team that wins the play-offs technically "deserves" to be Champions!
  12. Don't see Edinburgh having much if a chance against Leicester, but they do seem to be able to pull out good performances from time to time. After Poole's performance at Leicester on Saturday, I think they are now favourites for the league.
  13. Perhaps Edinburgh's final match should be a NDL meeting, would probably still get a big crowd to say farewell to Armadale & hopefully out something in the kitty for when (I hope) land becomes available for a new track?
  14. Same thing happened last year (but not to the same degree) Poole left waiting for the Leicester / Scunthorpe quarter final, which was delayed. As soon as they announced 6 clubs qualify for the play-offs I could see issues arising, if a QF match is postponed the top 2 clubs will have to wait longer to race. However Glasgow could have filled the gaps by 1) beating an Edinburgh team missing Masters & Pickering in the KOC or 2) racing the Summer / Jubilee trophy at Leicester (I believe they didn't want to race, missing certain riders) or 3) putting on an Ashfield Classic / NL strength challenge fixture to keep the fans coming?
  15. Tbh I don't think Glasgow have a stronger heat leader trio than Poole. But either way there's not much between them.
  16. Don't know how clubs can stop riders getting injured, especially as most ride for more than one team and / or abroad!
  17. Do the remaining NDL matches not count as competitive meetings? Mind you given the strength of the Armadale team, probably not (sadly)
  18. I assume he goes back to his 2021 ave, that's what happened to Kennett & Newman when Eastbourne's fixtures were removed.
  19. Indeed, if Summers beats every rider except Masters & Pickering - he'd end up with 9 from 5 rides.
  20. I doubt it tbh. But will be interesting to see if the guest rules are updated. Last year Poole had a long wait for their play-off QF as Leicester & Scunthorpe had rain offs & were not in a rush, so waited a week to re-arrange their fixtures. This year the exact same thing has happened to Glasgow / Leicester. The BSPL had the opportunity to try and avoid these fixture issues, but did nothing!
