In 1996 the league was decided on % not match points, my Dad loved that season because Arena-Essex rode every week in the conference league. Nowadays I can't see how stand alone NL clubs can run with 8 home matches a year?
You don't need to lower the minimum limit from 3.00 to 2.00 to encourage newcommers, as the limit is low every year, clubs will always need 3.00 men to fill the bottom end of the team!
If that's true, why would you reward teams for failure by giving them first pick? If anything should let league champions have first pick etc as they probably have the most points to shed from their team!
Kemp struggled because he went into the top 5 very quickly, which is far harder than being a NL heat leader! That being said a 3.5 ave for a 16/17 year old in their first season isn't bad!
