Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018
B.V 72 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No one has mentioned the track from last night and in my opinion it played a big part in our loss.( taking nothing from Lynn they were the better team on the night and well deserved their win )There was a lot more dirt on the track last night than there normally is and i think the Belle vue riders struggled with it.We had the fastest time of the season in heat one ( more dirt more grip ) and to my count there were 9 FTG wins thats not normal at the NSS. From a passing point of view it was the poorest meeting of the season. The dirt made the first rider from the gate so fast that it was very hard for the others to make a pass.( hard not impossible ) After Garrittys fall (track nothing to do with his fall) we had an interval while the medics took a look at him and there was a long track grade in which they took a bit of the dirt off, it was not as slick as normal but less dirt on it and then Bewley looked better and got his only win and Tungate then looked more himself and got three race wins and Drozdz scored his only points of the night in his last ride.Trouble is after the grade Grajczonic did not score another point and Kurtz after 2 wins got a 2nd and a 3rd.Not the only reason for our loss last night but in my opinion it played a big part of it. But as i said before Kings lynn got to grips with the track better than we did and well deserved the win. Nowhere near as bad but as a eg the world team cup semi showed that too much dirt at the NSS makes for a poor meeting. -

This is crazy the gates are down already this season with Monday nights. With Belle vues top 3 missing for this meeting the place could be like a ghost town just rearrange it for when we can see both teams at full strength. -
Any 2 point ish rider you sign will be a young National league rider who is only in the team so that you can have a top heavy 1 to 5(the managers choice) they are all just cannon fodder who will pick up the odd point here and there. They are all to young to be in the top league Jack was loved at Belle vue last year because he is a real trier and the fans got behind him and went crazy whenever he scored a point or so for us they were just chuffed for the lad.But we all knew he was a young kid and why he was in the team and never gave him any hassle at all. The only way you will get a better reserve is to drop one of your top 4 and bring in 2 four ish pointers like we have done this year if it turns out better for us time will tell. All i can say to you is take Jack for what he is a young lad at the start of his speedway carrier and get behind the lad he will be giving everything he has got but at best he will score a couple of points every now and then and when he does give him a massive cheer.

I'm sorry but I m o you cannot judge the NSS having only once sat down in the stands to watch Buxton for gods sake.To form a true opinion you need to attend a meeting like we witnessed yesterday with a good crowd and witness some of the best speedway racing you will see anywhere in the world, and watch Chase the ace bring the crown to life the guy is brilliant. Things have changed for the better under the new management they do a great job on race night the whole presentation is spot on and again in my opinion since they took over there are far less stewards around and they have never bothered me at all in any way in fact I never really notice they are there most meetings. Re the size of the stadium they were never going to build a stadium the size of the ones in Poland with the much smaller crowds we get over here were they. Seems crazy to me that you will travel to Poland when a 100 miles up the road you can most meetings watch some of the best speedway racing you will see anywhere in the world but we all have different opinions don't we.

Well if that does not bring people back for more nothing will.Everything you could ask for in a speedway meeting even the Wolves fans must have enjoyed the racing if not the result. -

Don't understand why at home we are using guests and not R/R when i m o Fricke,Tungate,Bewley and the better reserve on the night makes us far stronger than any guest does for Worrall. From memory Klindt never goes that well round the NSS and makes the job of taking a good lead to Wolves a much harder job. Riding for the Lions in 2017 he scored 3 and 4 very poor guest. -

Saving the best till last.Great view from anywhere in the stadium I choose to sit in C block. Its £18 to stand in south stand seating is £21 in grandstand £24 for D block(start line)You buy your tickets from the ticket office before you go in.Prog £3.Theres a car park on pink bank lane just behind the stadium or you can park on the school grounds on Kirky lane they charge £3.You can park on the streets round the stadium but its safer to use the car parks. -
From what I can see the Colts are only at home on 5 Friday nights all season so why oh why do they have to arrange this fixture when Jack is riding in an away meeting for Sheffield. There are plenty of Friday nights when he is available to ride. One of the main reasons I go to watch the Colts is to see young riders like Jack progress so i will still be there but am very disappointed that Jack is not.

Fairly happy with that with 2 poor guests and Tungate not yet up to speed(seems to start slow every year) we gave the odds on favourites on their home track a decent meeting. All we need to do now is keep in or close to the top 4 till Worrall returns (and in my opinion we would be a better team if we keep Starke),then we will stand a good chance of reaching the play offs again.I think Bewley will get better as the season goes on and Tungate should soon be back up to the form where he left off last season. So to me its looking good. Time will tell.

If I remember rightly when Tony Mole was the promoter at Belle vue he made a statement that if it does not rain for 2 hours before tapes up the meeting will be on.

I do not like knocking young riders but I have to say from what I saw of young Dicken on Saturday night at this stage of his development he looks nowhere near ready for the National league yet. I really do hope he proves me wrong.I will be there for every home meeting encouraging him to do so.

When most top riders these days seem to be on strict diets and exercise plans to help them be the best they can be,if this is true perhaps its part of the reason why Chris is not the same rider he used to be.
-
So are you saying that Zagar could return on his last average of 7.48 if any team wishes to make a rider change ?.
-
As I have stated before I am for team race suits. The only riders that should wear bibs are Chris and Jack Holder and Troy Batchelor due to their childish behaviour last season and beyond.Let them have race suits when they mature a little.lol.

I agree there is not much wrong with the product its the same and as good now as its always been. Its the atmosphere that has now gone. The best meeting I have been to in years was a meeting my team lost it was the 2016 play off final 2nd leg against Wolves at belle vue.The atmosphere was electric the crowd were up on their feet chanting for the whole meeting.Like it or not but it got the crowed involved there was interaction between the crowd with on the night bad boy Woffinden. There was on track altercations between riders which got the crowd involved.Riders of both teams showed a lot of passion when they won or got a race advantage, the whole meeting seemed to cause the crowed to react and join in verbally, the whole meeting was awesome. Hard I know with the crowds we now get is to try and create some of the old atmosphere and get the crowed more involved. Bring back the bad boys who wind up the home fans, get the home riders to interact with the crowd more after race wins get them to cheer more etc.Get the announcer/mascot to try and wind up the crowd more get them to cheer even encourage them to boo it all gets the crowed to interact and causes more of an atmosphere. It has to be worth a try its got to be far better than just filling in your programme between races and getting bored waiting for the next race to begin. So for me the only way the sport can grow is if there is a way to get the crowed more involved and create a better atmosphere, fans will have a better night out if they join in more and any newbies or retuning fans are more likely to return and the larger the crowd the better atmosphere you will get.

A big yes to team race suits from me.I support the Belle vue aces with a passion and I like the club I support to look like a team.Just like any other team sport I can think of. Like most supporters of any team in any sport the teams colours and logo are a big part of sport.Seeing my team dressed in red white and black with a big ace of clubs on their chest gives me a buzz even before the 1st race begins.

Which ever way you work it out Poole on paper are a lot stronger than the rest.Mostly down to the fact that the BSPA have allowed old out off date averages to be used for much improved riders. This is great for Poole and their fans and well done mr Ford for putting this team together all within this years rules. But the problem for the rest of us is that every other team is quite evenly matched and at this point without Poole it would be hard to pick a winner. So with the BSPA allowing the out of date averages it has in my opinion spoilt what should have been the most evenly matched league in years. So well done again the BSPA you have again shot yourselves in the foot because if most teams later on in the season were still in with a shot of the play offs and winning the league a lot more supporters would turn up to support there team every week.Runaway teams are good for their own supporters but other clubs support will drop off as soon as they know they have no chance of winning sod all. All we can hope is that like last year Poole do not perform as well on the track as their team on paper says they should and evens things up.

How could I have not included the late great Dent Oliver in my post shame on me. Yes that's one of the reasons I think the 72 team was one of the greats because 5 of team were home grown talent plus Sjosten who was as good as.All down to Dent Oliver.

Is the league stronger in 2018?
B.V 72 replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Its not just about the 15 mins of speedway though is it.Its a night out where you can enjoy the racing but also if you are like me I meet up with my speedway friends(some I only see at speedway).Talk about all things speedway and all other thing ands have a good laugth etc and if I like I can have a drink. I went to the pub the other night spent about £15 on a few pints but that's all they gave me for my money other than a bit of background music. The enjoyment of the night was chatting and having a laugth with my friends etc= a good night out.If it was just about the booze i could have stayed in and drank the same on my own for a fraction of the cost.So what I am saying its not just the speedway its everything put together that gives me a really good night out at every speedway meeting I go to. -
Swimming, diving, gymnastics, beach volleyball all in boiler suits.Tennis and hockey in long trousers.Full body beachware high neck lines skirts to the ankle etc.How far is it going to go it seems that some politically correct people will not be happy until we go back to Victorian times. If most of the population do not have a problem with something then leave it be.If the odd few over the top head case's have a problem with something then let them get over it and let the rest of us get on with life blissfully not thinking there is any problem.
