When we do a show with a stand, bikes and a video, I always have free family tickets for a specific meeting or valid for say a month. In talking to the people it doesn't take much to identify if they genuinely intend to use them, or if they mention a friend or family who goes, they don't get the offer. Nothing pi$$es you off when smug fans walk in with a freebee ticket, but usually they are pulled up for to embarrass them. Real fans realise the point being made.

Don't Panic. BSPA just do the fixtures with the usual allowances for club's preferences. and if a big match coincides with one, rearrange it for a better day. Remember, with less fixtures at home, there will be gaps in the fixtures anyway. Don't panic Pike.
-
If in saying that. how can you glory in a team that will win every meeting at Ashfield and not be challenged partly because of less from TR's. You either want big home wins or you don't.

Others jumping on the bandwagon for their own importance will not help Newcastle Speedway at this juncture. If in the event Newcastle was to close, people like you will be delighted apparently, whilst others will have lost their club. Butt out and play on the other threads, you won't do any harm then. BTW. People on here that know me, know they can trust me. Unlike you and your jests.

Yes, Nicki thinks the world of him.

I think we have already declared we are running due to the AGM. Meanwhile things have to done inside the company, without Alan, to close down 2017 and prepare for 2018, whilst looking for new investors and trying to sign riders for 2018. You can see that concentration tends to be on the business at the moment, and when they are ready to advise on things they will. It is timestaking so let's give them a bit of space for now.
-
The reason we got Nicki in 1998 was he hadn't signed by anybody including Peterborough. Peter Oakes got him to sign a blank piece of paper in 1997 in front of the crowd, after he had spins there with Ronni being attached to them at that time. We were tipped off of his availability and we signed Nicki after our delayed start that year.

Whilst you don't always go out to win the league, entertaining your own fans at home is priority, if you make some good decisions and work with others you sometimes do get a league winning side. Our link with Danish people, and the signings of Nicki, Bjarne, and later KB, had a lot to do with our success in 2001. We got a decent set of riders with Bjarne, Jesper, Andre, Kevin, etc, and were heading for a title all the year, together with Hull who had a good solid side. With only a few meetings left we went away to Hull and beat them, which virtually assured us of the PL title. Due to more points to pay for, we made a loss winning the title, but I was told after the Hull meeting that they had then lost £60k trying to win it. That team, but with KB instead of Bjarne, went on to be level with Sheffield on league points in 2002, but Sheffield won that title because they had higher aggregate points than us due to their vast track advantage. So once again. we made a loss.

I am sure it is in hand Keith. Anyway, Great news about Harry and Megan eh. Hope we get them to open us up in '18, much better than the Lord Mayor like usual. They'll not have anything on in March I would think.

Only when immature kids with nowt to do write sh*it that could damage a club/sport I happen to belong to. He is also doing things on other teams threads.
-
You obviously don't know how these thing work do you. Ludde was in the process of signing for Edinburgh last year, and we changed his mind. He has regular successful guest bookings with them in 17, and there are other factors not for this forum. By making your stupid and irresponsible statements you could be damaging a business that already has a few problems at the moment. Now butt out and make someone else day.
-
And it doesn't say what you said, that Newcastle are not Running. Butt out kid.

This from a youngin who is posting dross like the above about everyones team plans. Stick to Poole matters, you might know more about them.

and Duckworth Lewis formulae.

Was Stoney not on a multiple term contract at Worky under Thomas. ?

I remember in the 00's, Ray Morton wanted to ride for Hull, but was only 0.01 over the teams points limit and the move never happened. It seems hard, but todays 0.01 is tomorrows 0.02 / 0.03 etc. Thing was he was wanting to return to Hull as his wife was from there I believe, but stats are stats and have to be obeyed.

But if it's not a team match, it would be watched by a poorer crowd, unless it was a top quality field or of special interest.

What Would You Change In Speedway Next Season?
Tsunami replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I am sure to will have been discussed, but their decision like in many minors matters will eventually be released as a full comprehensive set of minutes has never been released AFAIK. -
Scunthorpe Scorpions 2018

I think he was born here. I saw him at the 4's meeting at Peterborough with a set of mates last year. -
And George would have had this Caribbean cruise booked about a year, and as it was for 3 weeks it would have cost well over £4k with no refund for cancellation. Try explaining that to your wife that the meeting was taking preference. My opinion is we will run, but with George just returning late in Friday, he will need time to pick things up, jetlag, emails and mail, but I know it is planned to put out a statement in the very near future. All will be revealed then.
-
Have you thought that George booked his cruise awhile ago before Alan had decided to 'take a break' from Speedway. No other promoters to call on so another promoter would have been charged to vote on issues by proxy voting. Did you expect George just to cancel his holiday ? I know another promotion who weren't represented at the AGM so Newcastle weren't alone. Remember also that in theory, all the motions down for debate will have been discussed at the earlier Pre AGM and the AGM is for formal voting on. Newcastle United leave those clubs behind as well. With the support of these bigger sports/Clubs there is a greater need and money to hire and employ professional staff agencies to run their club. In Speedway most things have to be do on a shoestring by others who have a job and family to consider. You can't compare with professional organisations. Like everyone else I DO think a statement should have been made before now, clearing the situation as I also share their concerns at not having a statement on our site.

Hear Hear, Gresham would soon have complaints it one team thrashed Somerset with a team points of say 50 to Gary's 38. Or if young reserve riders were not getting rides, cos the top riders were taking all their rides and we ended up with no young riders of our own. More criticism then. Asking for stronger teams with a higher points limit and running out of riders. The list could go on, but ignorance of statistics should not rule the sport.

You are right Gem. Individual meetings stopped becoming popular because the modern fans like to support their team. That is also shown by the disgust of the fans that have had to watch this teams made up of guests. It is now a team sport and I have heard staunch supporters say they wouldn't be at Brough the following week when there was an individual meeting on. Such meetings only attract some riders who want to try out something or when they need a booking for the money. Test matches were great in the distant past, when the choice of riders available made it viable with eager crowds. Riders were already in the country, and the crowds could pay the extra costs. Not now of course, if the teams were made up of riders already over here, and who would ride for the poor money offered, as the meetings would not raise the money for two teams of heatleader standard. Like football, fans want to watch their team and not a filler for the sake of it. I could enjoy, and do, watching meetings like Berwick's Star of Tomorrow junior meetings where up and coming ridings, supplemented with young foreign riders in the meeting, do battle to get noticed. Some good racing, but of course it's not everyone's cup of tea.
