Guess youll be going for two 3 pointers + someone, Agree Isherwood, will be hit or bust, think with the strength of teams named so far that he should be an ok signing.

Interesting full line up

Well done TA

Good luck, i hope your son gets the chance to ride in the Under16s this year. We as fans can see flaws in our system & more definitely needs to be done to help british kids, and there views need to be listened too.

Fair points i do accept what you are saying about Tai, but as HenryW points out i dont think huge would be the right assessment of how big a role they played in his development. He had talent, natural ability, skills before he rode on a 500cc bike in competitive league speedway. In fact from what i remember of that he was miles better than anyone else. No one claims that Bomber was made into a "world class rider",and yes it did give him his chance 100% agree. People on various threads are passionate about the development of brits, pointing to the attitude that we are rubbish at the top level, theres not enough brits, we havent had a world champ since loram, brits should be guaranteed team places etc. People want that too change which is great but the development of british talent should not just be about wether TEAM GB are succesful, & GB having a world champ. I dont think the purpose of the NL is to develop the next world champ, or for Team GB to be succesful. The opening post on this thread asked the question whether its done anything good at the highest level i.e. GPS, world and wether its serving its purpose. The purpose of the NL as you rightly say is about giving people an opportunity to race at a competitive level. The opportunity for kids to start racing competitively and in a professional league. I think any system does need to be reviewed and assessed, IMO. So that british speedway is progressive. I think british youngsters should have some input into a league that is about there development.

I think that will be the case, anyway if there is two promotions that can make it work it will be sheffield's & scunny's. Like your idea about coaching too. You can have all the ability in the world but that doesnt neccesarily make you a good coach. I would imagine most riders who do training schools get better with doing it & coaching people, but are more suited to passing on and emparting there knowledge and skills than the ones that dont, but i think it would be good too have a system in place for riders too get into doing this & have support available to them. The most important thing fok kids when starting riding is to make it pressure free, fun & for them to have people that they look upto coaching them. -
I 100% agree with your post. Take Machin's comments in the speedway star this week, we havent even seen the best of the young aussies coming over.

Rest of your post was spot on Malcolm. But considering I've decided too take a bit of an interest in stokes side, I would just like too say well done so far the balance so far between everything is spot on, glad the phone hasn't stopped ringing I was sure that that would be the case. Good luck with the rest of the team, & I will look forward to seeing the potters at Newport in 2011. -
Yep I think it'd have a good chance too.

Definitely agree, Barrie has always been one of my favourite riders & definitely a great rider at NL level. Always wants too go out & do his best & has always been willing to ride wherever & whenever. I hope he gets back to his best this year.

That's good news for hackney can't ask for a more dedicated rider to lead a team.

What i find really interesting is that i have always thought all Scunny fans have always seemed to support the ideals that whats most important is whats best for british riders at NL level because Scunny's promotion have always supported the ideals of the NL since they started in the PL. Scunny's promotion have now done whats best for there business going forward, and done something progressive for the riders & there development, rather than saying it was unaffordable. The suggestion of running under Hull was a nice suggestion, & i can understand that if the team is succesful this year, then it may take the shine off it for some fans by running partially under Sheffields name. But it would be a real shame if those fans who have actively supported the young riders dont support them because of a team name, when they could really achieve something special this year. They need your support, and if they are succesful this year it will be a tremendous achievement for them, and a succes the fans who have supported them should share in, irrespective of that you shouldnt be any less proud of them whatever they achieve or wherever they finish. Without the Scunny fans or promotion, some of these riders would never have had an opportunity, stick with them. -
I think it depends on its purpose as a league which I think is ambiguous so that it can't be measured. I think they should be reviewing & analysing the system as it stands. People point to those riders & the young ones are no better than average at the highest level. Tai was good b4 he came over. Team GB at the SWC are a joke. Ok on home soil & that's about it. Harris has don't great & can be really proud of his achievements but hes never gna have a shot at the world title. I think he improved & got to the top level because of his own hard work & not because the 3rd tier developed him into a world class rider. If we measure it on that basis I don't think it has done anything over the last 10 years. If we look at the riders who have progressed out of the NL I think it has done something. Especially last year. But I think they need to either set targets or start reviewing the nl system and what it does.

Would be awesome I have to say I hope that this could be done. Would be an amazing addition to the NL. -
That'd be a good looking side

I agree if there signed up just tell the fans. As a promotion your not gaining anything from delaying.

Good suggestion, although doesn't always work.In other sports such re-branding hasn't always worked. -

Tim has good equipment & a good support team. Hes capable of an 8pt ave IMO. I mentioned Johnson think he was ave around 4-5 last year from memory.

Agree Montie, whatever name they ride under, riding a new track can only benefit & improve them as well as other NL riders who get the opportunity to tackle sheffield. They have a strong chance of success this year & if as a fan you have supported all these riders for 1 or more years & they are successful & win something then you would be happy whatever name they ride under. -
No probs just my opinions but its nice to have a new team to talk about & a good race track at that. And its great that people are taking an interest in stokes side.

Id be optimistic I've watched near enough NL as PL matches in my time as a fan & stoke would have been my NL team this year if the hornets hadn't run. Lambert will be a force next year him an Roynon battling it out at the top of the NL averages. Atkin will do a solid job & I wouldn't be surprised if he upped his average next year. Tim as I posted was ave as much as Kyle, Todd & Jonesy last year upto a point. And he will do a cracking job. Top 3 as a unit is best named so far & will be hard to better that. If you can get a 'pickard' or similar in next & pick up a couple of decent kids for the reserve positions, I would be very optimistic about your season. Your top 3 will be very entertaining.
