  1. No, 2011, when the change in noise was markedly noticeable.
  2. They removed the classic speedway roar which was an integral part of the sport for me. I gave it until the end of that season then never returned for more.
  3. Ringwood closed down mid-1955, their last home meeting was v Eastbourne on May 22nd.
  4. Oh, I don't doubt that, my point was that there really weren't any highlights in that appalling final.
  5. That can't have taken very long as I don't recall there being any.
  6. That would mean Kent starting at 5.30 or earlier!
  7. That's an understatement. His creations are amazing, especially his Velocette V-twin.
  8. That's true of motorcycle sport in general, not just speedway.
  9. But is is better than Wimborne Road? :-)
  10. Walter Elliot rode as Mark Hall for Berwick in 68/9.
  11. Yes it is, at least it has been for the last few years. Using a VPN, you can even view it in the UK that way.
  12. Wasn't it staged on a weekday afternoon, therefore in an almost empty stadium?
  13. Colin Gooddy, better known as Joe (does anyone know why?), has died aged 84. His career began in the old Southern Area League in the 1950's for Eastbourne and Southern Rovers. He then rode for Oxford, Exeter, Ipswich, Poole and finally Crayford. R.I.P Joe.
  14. I agree. Grasstracks now tend to have too many classes which spoils the continuity.
  15. Yes - but it was a Rugby League match, 104,000 odd.
  16. I agree he's a good signing but at 22 is no longer 'very young'.
  17. His racing exploits have which was rather the point.
  18. Guiseppe Marzotto (aka Charlie Brown) didn't pull up any tress for Wolves in 1976. Clearly his talents lay elsewhere.
  19. The always spectacular Brian Woodward.
  20. Nothing to do with him as far as I know. His company was Sabre Cleaning.
  21. Does this affect Northside too or is that an independent operation?
  22. It's difficult to read that without becoming teary-eyed. Tomasz went from zero to hero in my book from the Boycey incident to becoming World Champ and I wish him all good luck in his recovery.
