  1. This Sunday Speedway returns to Hi-Edge for the first time for a month and its the visit of near neighbours the Stoke Potters that has the tongues wagging. Team manager Jason Pipe is under no illusion that the men from the Potteries will offer a stern test as they arrive in the Dales on the back of two victories We must not take the Potters too lightly. They are on a high at the moment having won their last 2 meetings. The last of them being an away win at Kent. We may have won recently at Stoke, but don't underestimate them, as they'll be coming here hell bent on looking for revenge! I'm sure my good friend Malcolm Vasey will have his boys fired up for this one! It's up to us to be up for it from the start. The threat from the visitors may come from an unexpected source according to the Buxton Boss I'm sure a close eye will be kept on Buxton old boy Paul Burnett, who could be a trump card at reserve for the Potters, having ridden for me in the past at this level, I know what he's capable of! Whatever happens on Sunday I'm sure it's going to be a close fought meeting and let's hope us Hitmen still have the bragging rights over our local rivals come 5pm on Sunday evening! Pipe is keen that his charges begin well on Sunday having been slow starters in both the previous two home fixtures In our first 2 home meetings this season we have been losing after the first 4 heats. This is just not good enough and it has to change quickly. We are making it hard for ourselves. Also in our first home meeting against Coventry, we took the chequered flag only 4 times and against Mildenhall it was only slightly better on 6 occasions. We need to be winning more races. Our riders seriously need to look at their gating and need to focus more on their starts. A defeat on Sunday would not be acceptable. I'm not even thinking that, because I know my boys are capable of collecting all 3 points. Adam Extance has been struggling to start with. He thinks it's being down to his set ups and since our last meeting, he's gone back to basics, to how they were at the back end of last season and I know he was to go and do some testing and was riding in the Julie Lewis Memorial meeting on Thursday just gone at Redcar. I'm sure Adam will get going soon and we'll see the scores that he's capable of, which will then make us a very hard team to beat! He went on, however, to bemoan the lack of home action his boys are having Sunday will be like starting the season all over again at home. Our lads haven't had the chance yet to get dialled in to their home track yet. We are currently going 4 weeks between home fixtures, which isn't good for the lads or the supporters. Again after Sunday, we unfortunately have to go another 4 weeks before our next home meeting, then after that it looks like we are racing at home every Sunday, bar one or two. Finally Pipe asked for the fans support in the second half on Sunday We have an MDL meeting in the 2nd half and it would be great to see fans staying back to watch these lads in action. I'm giving MDL debuts to Dale Lamb and Blair Smith. Those 2 along with Kev Whelan and George Rothery makes our team an interesting one because I'm sure at least one of these could well be in a Buxton race jacket in the NL in 2016! That's the aim and the reason why we are running a team in the MDL. These lads know it's now time to impress, if they want me to consider them for a NL berth next season! Please stay back if you can and show these lads some support. Buxton 1.Tony Atkin 2.Tom Woolley 3.Adam Extance 4.Ryan Blacklock 5.Liam Carr 6.David Holt 7. Paul Bowen Stoke 1.Jon Armstrong 2. 2. Quite right. We are all entitled I wssn't there but it was my son he took off and I would rather he was on the track with him than others I could mention who not only are wild but woildn't apologise profusely but would add insult to injury by accusing him of getting in their way
  3. The wind was blowing and the sun was shinning and as quick as the track was being watered it was drying. Dust was quite heavy
  4. We seem to be all systems go; From the Stoke Website; http://www.stokepotters.co/news.php?extend.771 STOKE Easy Rider Potters entertain the Mildenhall Fen Tigers in the City Gearboxes National League at Loomer Road on Sunday afternoon, 3pm.The Potters are looking for their first league win of the season in what is a busy couple of days for the Loomer Road septet with an away trip to Kent on Monday evening also. The Potters will need to be at their best against the quick starting Tigers who have a decent record around the Chesterton circuit in the past few seasons. The Tigers are led by skipper Daniel Halsey who continues to be a consistent scorer in the National League and he is well supported by Connor Mountain and Jack Kingston. Luke Riddick and Connor Coles complete the top five and they provide a solid back up to the top three in the side. At reserve the Tigers have Stefan Farnaby and Tom Bacon to complete the side with both riders capable of scoring points on the day.Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey said Mildenhall are a good side who are currently third in the table, but I feel we have been unfortunate in our opening fixtures having away meetings at the likes of leaders Birmingham, Eastbourne two tracks where nobody has won and Kings Lynn where we were without Lee Payne also leaving us in what I believe is a false position. They have a couple of riders who dont know our track and we will need to take advantage of this in the early heats on Sunday. Our lads have been through the mill early on but they are still in good spirits and they are all eager to show what they can do and get out and perform and hopefully gain our first victory on Sunday.STOKE: Jon Armstrong (Captain), Chris Widman, Ryan Terry-Daley, Danny Phillips, Lee Payne, Ryan MacDonald, Paul BurnettMILDENHALL: Daniel Halsey (Captain), Jack Kingston, Connor Mountain, Luke Ruddick, Connor Coles, Stefan Farnaby, Tom BaconSTOKE Hartshill Cycles Spitfires are also in action immediately after the main meeting when they take on last seasons league Champions Milton Keynes in the Midland Development League. The Spitfires are led into action by Ryan MacDonald with Sam Ward returning to the line-up after he missed a couple of meetings recently. Layne Cupitt and Cameron Hoskins complete the Spitfires line up.STOKE: Ryan MacDonald, Sam Ward, Layne Cupitt, Cameron HoskinsMILTON KEYNES: Rob Watts, Lee Springthorpe, Connor King, Rob Parker The 2nd half looks a cracker to.
  5. Sadly I wont be there I will be at Loomer Road. I hope you enjoy your visit !
  6. [quote name="johnd7244" post="2619941" If you see an old g*t walking about like John Wayne's dad, I'd be grateful if you'd take pity on me, and make yourself known to me. Enjoy your speedway, JohnD7244. You've got no chance. All chinless wonders on here. No balls to face people just faceless nerks. I'm affraid. Hope you enjoy your trip.
  7. I support him. Riders are in a lot more danger from some sober riders than darcy dehydratedfrom the night before.
  8. You can hardly be credited with developing him though!
  9. No problem No my comments don't come from some misguided loyalty to the promotion the point I was making was I have seen too many consumed by bitterness in this sport. I think it's sad you can't enjoy your team. I wasn't commenting on management, politics or set up. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
  10. Not shouting at anyone. I would never do that it isn't my place and I certainly have no right to. My point was what makes anyone think that new owners would go PL?. I'm not the any speedway is better than no speedway gang. I just enjoy my meetings and hate to think of others out there not being able to do just that but I respect their right and their opinion. As you know the Lions threads are littered with anti establishment posts so it's not necessarily a new stadium and top flight team
  11. I don't normally engage in this kind of thing. Thanks for clearing that up. I hope things change for you soon onr way or another. It is sad when people feel they can't enjoy their team anymore. Tbh I just take it for what it is an evenings entertainment so I struggle with that concept. I don't take my speedway as seriously as some clearly. At least the supporters can take comfort in knowing if the current promoter decided to jack itvin then there is a safety net waiting in the wings One thing I will say being from Leicester is big ideas and fancy stadiums don't necessarily make fans any happier
  12. No I wasn't implying Financial gain but your objection to the current promotion maybe slighlty biased.
  13. So you have a vested interest in him walking away. Well you may get some back up if you go onto the FB page. Not sure how many come on here.
  14. The IOW was a consortium of supporters and look how that has ended. Like I say be careful what you wish for.
  15. I did know who you were. Which is nice, if you are contemplating a break (hopefully). Your post is a good one ! Apparently last night was a fire in the electrical station. Hopefully Dave can get that sorted. I know Malcolm still reads the forum. It would be good if Dave did The team needs more supporters like your good self. Stoke supporters are loyal supporters they must be to be able to see their team beaten and still get behind them If it changed would it still be Stoke?. With it's imperfections and all. My main team should be Leicester with it's lovely new stadium and EL team I should be on cloud 9 there but don't get the same cosy feeling as I get at Loomer road. You probably think I'm saying this because of the boy but you ciuldn't be further from the truth I would have a real dilemma if he rode for a different team. Hopefully see you at Perry Bar.
  16. Promoters stick to old school they get slated promoters try to go all progressive and they get slated. I suppose you have to go with what you think and run with it. Vog's comments are sad to say the least and I'm sure he hasn't taken the decision lightly
  17. I disagree I think while there is Dave Tattum there will be speedway at Stoke. He could have pulled the plug years ago but it's still there.
  18. STOKE are back in action on Saturday when they entertain Cradley in the first leg of their National League KO Cup quarter final at Loomer Road, 7pm. The Potters are sweating on the fitness of Lee Payne who missed last nights defeat at Kings Lynn. The Loomer Road club will need to be at their best against last seasons league Champions who have been flying high this season. The Heathens are led by Max Clegg who has been in impressive form this season. The West Midlands club will use rider replacement for Nathan Greaves with Matt Williamson taking the third heat leader role. Luke Harris rides at four with Arron Mogridge son of former Potter Alan completing the top five. At reserve the Heathens have Michael Neale and the impressive Ellis Perks. The Potters give a debut to Paul Burnett who replaces the injured Shaun Tedham. STOKE: Jon Armstrong, Chris Widman, Ryan Terry-Daley, Danny Phillips, Lee Payne, Ryan MacDonald, Paul Burnett CRADLEY: Max Clegg, Arron Mogridge, Matt Williamson, Luke Harris, Nathan Greaves r/r, Michael Neale, Ellis Perk http://www.stokepotters.co/news.php?extend.760
  19. 1st thing he needs to get his head round is ignoring the trolls. Sort that out and you are halfway there. He has probably taken advice off Rob as that is what they were saying about him season before last Best of luck Brendan
  20. Ryan seems ok according to his dad just a few bruises. Shaun less so but being shaun is upbeat about his return as soon as. Ben Hopwood also broke his wrist in ht 15.
  21. Now Sunday 10th 3pm http://www.stokepotters.co/news.php?extend.754 STOKE Easy Rider Potters home meeting against Buxton on Saturday night has been moved back a day to Sunday afternoon with a 3pm start time. With heavy rain in the Potteries on Friday afternoon and evening and with further rain forecast for Saturday Dave Tattum spoke with Buxton counterpart Jayne Moss and hastily rearranged the fixture for Sunday afternoon when the forecast is for drier weather. Potters promoter Dave Tattum explained “With the forecast for the next 24 hours of rain we felt it best to move quickly and rearrange the fixture and give us time to get the track ready. Sunday’s forecast is for it to be dry and with Buxton not having a home fixture on the day it made sense to move the fixture back a day. I’d like to thank Jayne Moss for her co-operation in this and we look forward to seeing some action on Sunday afternoon.
