  1. I don't think it is any of our business anyway.
  2. As I said before Humphrey - these things take an age. Let's all just be PATIENT.
  3. It's ever so simple really in BOTH Scenarios. They are BOTH currently AGAINST THE LAW and yes - they are WRONG. Until the Law is changed it will stay that way. Personally I hope they never change the Law regarding both. I know you will probably say that I am an old fuddy duddy - but - it is my belief that the Law is right most of the time and that it is definitely right in these instances. This is only MY opinion - others may differ.
  4. I don't recall too many people defending HIM either. Or is it one Law for a Supporter and one Law for a Rider. I did NOT support BFD - personally I think he was bloody stupid - I have NOT condemned Michael Lee either if you bother to read the whole Thread. See Post No. 12 on the first Page of this Thread. The Post you Quoted was answering someone else's point.
  5. Actually there is a very good Post by 'hyderd' on the Belle Vue 2013 Thread in the Elite League Section. Post Number 1563. Perhaps this will silence all the doubters. But then again - knowing some on this forum - perhaps not.....................................
  6. Let me know when you are going Aleksandr - I will join you for Tea and Sandwiches.
  7. Jack Millen and Frank Auffret didn't like each other on or off the Track either. Jack used to get invited to all the Open Meetings at Teeside because the Promoter, Ron Wilson, used to reckon he would put lots on the Gate just to see Frank Auffret and him clash (sometimes literally). You can't do things like that nowadays - but - it really added to the ENTERTAINMENT which IS, at the end of the day, what Speedway is supposed to be about. Jack once needed a Police escort out of Peterborough due to his antics. Not the CHARACTERS around these days like Jack, Frank, Tony Childs etc.. The more's the pity. HAPPY DAYS!!!
  8. Why not Speedway World Cup one year and a Speedway World Best Pairs the next and so on? Alternate years - I think that would be good. Thoughts anyone?
  9. Will Cooke be Banned for our Meeting at Newcastle on Sunday?
  10. He took Drugs - that is illegal and wrong. END OF!!! Oh - and since when do you get Fined up for drinking a couple of pints?
  11. I don't usually Quote my own Posts - but - I thought it was appropriate here. I wish I had put some money on the Result.
  12. No - I haven't been to Leicester Speedway Gemini. I am sure I read somewhere that the mounds of soil/mud, when there is enough of it, will be smoothed and landscaped in to a bank that will help prevent noise becoming a problem to the Club's neighbours.
  13. Obviously Michael has been under a lot of strain - but - there can be no excuse for Drug Taking. I find this all rather sad. A brilliant - but - flawed genius. I sincerely hope that he can get his life back together again.
  14. If I am wrong - then I bow to your superior knowledge.
  15. To become a Baffle Bank I believe - to reduce the noise for the Speedway's neighbours.
  16. I reckon that even a '2-Valve' Laydown would be cheaper to maintain than the current '4-Valve'. Cheaper to service too. From a Rider safety point of view - this has not been mentioned so far - I think that the '2-Valves' were a LOT less dangerous to their Riders than the '4-Valve'. I do NOT believe that the Development of the '4-Valve' Engine has been of any benefit to Speedway at all. On the contrary I think it is that more than anything that has put our Sport in to the parlous state that it now finds itself.
  17. I totally agree with this. Rider wages too have increased beyond reason. I still maintain that it is Equipment and Engine Tuners that are far too expensive - particularly for a young person trying to enter the Sport as a Rider. The '4-Valve' Revolution started all of this chase for faster and faster and more powerful Engines. I believed at the time the Sport should have stuck with '2-Valve' Engines - because it didn't we are reaping the consequences now. I know that people will say that I am a dinosaur - but - the far more expensive '4-Valve' Engine has not increased the times of the Races that much - but - HAS increased the costs within the Sport out of all comparison to the so called benefits (speed) they bring. Without all of the questionable Developments within Speedway the Costs could have been kept down, the Ticket Price could have been kept down and a lot more people would be coming through the Gate today. Sadly - things are as they are.
  18. Personally I may be tempted to buy a Brick. I would not even consider it until the construction of the proposed Stadium was under way. I am optimistic that the new Stadium will be built - BUT - I will wait and see. I do agree that there should be more information put in to the Public domain by the promoters.
  19. I forecast ages ago that when the Government 'Cuts' finally struck home everything and everyone would suffer. Speedway is not immune from this. I think that this is an excellent topic because, as has already been said, Speedway always drew it's Support from the so called 'Working Class'. The problem is that Development Costs, Laydown Engines, Bike Parts etc. have now outstripped Speedway's Target Audience. Bikes and Accessories cost so much more these days, Engine Tuners charge a small fortune to Service an Engine. In the old days - the Rider and his Mechanic sorted that out. Costs have HAD to increase disproportionately in order to keep up with the Development Costs. To my mind these are a few of the reasons why Speedway finds itself with the problems it faces today. I would not presume to say what a Fair, Value for Money Price would be for a Speedway Meeting (because I don't know) but if you Price the Product too high for your 'Target Audience' you are on the road to disaster - as we are finding out.
