It gives me NO pleasure whatsoever to Post as I did in my previous Post. We in Sunderland have been longing for FORTY years near enough for someone to come in and Promote Speedway. I sincerely hope that if WE had some Promoter brave enough to take a chance that we (Supporters) would NOT treat him/her to the kind of abusive comments appearing on here. We would be eternally grateful that we had some Speedway to watch. I tell you what - if DH were to come to Sunderland - I/We would welcome him with open arms. Please try to be grateful for what you have - you NEVER know when it may be taken away from you. YOU WAITED LONG ENOUGH TO GET IT!!!

Well said. If I were DH and read some of the bile Posted on this Thread - I would close the place down straight away. It's one thing to be critical - it's something totally different to be abusive. :angry:

I believe that it IS right that Cannabis should be illegal sidney. My main reason is that it can be the starting point to getting in to more serious Drugs (please note - I said it CAN be the starting point - not it IS). Also - it IS a proven fact that 'Weed' can be the cause of Paranoia and other Mental problems. For those reasons alone I believe they should remain banned Substances. I too have never taken any Drugs, other than those prescribed by my Doctor obviously, in my life. By the way - in my day 'Weed' meant something that lived in a back garden with some Plant Pots. (you'll need to be getting on to remember them though).

That's where you are wrong - THERE IS A LIE. The LIE is that the Play Off Winners are League Champions - how can you call them League Champions if they didn't win the League. Bloody crackers if you ask me!! As you say in your last sentence Lioness - it IS a SETUP. I couldn't have put it better myself. :approve: Oh - and if Newcastle DON'T win the League but DO win the Play Offs - they are NOT as far as I am concerned League Champions - they are Play Off winners in my book. Whoever win the League over the Season deserve to be called Champions. (This is to answer someone who asked what I would think about Newcastle winning the Play Offs - now you know).

Yes it IS a Con Lioness. League Championships are won/decided over a whole Season and not in a tuppence halfpenny Play Off Competition. To say - they knew the Rules before the Season started is correct - BUT crucially - it doesn't make it RIGHT does it? The Play Offs is all about money - NOT the Sport. The money could be made in a really good Cup Competition. Sport is about CREDIBILITY as much as anything else - Speedway is losing it's credibility rapidly as is evidenced by the drastically falling Crowds. You are probably right - but that is NOT my point. People who have read my Posts on this Forum KNOW that I have consistently railed against the Play Off System since long before Newcastle lost last year. I have been consistent in my opposition to:- Play Offs, Double Points and the GPs., and other things too. You may not agree with me, that is your privilege, but please believe me when I say that I passionately want Speedway to do well - I can't see that happening as long as unfairness exists in the way the Sport is run and the way the Results are massaged/contrived. I hope I have explained my position and that you appreciate that it is not bitterness because Newcastle lost the Play Offs that I am against the System, I would be against it whoever Won/Lost - it just isn't RIGHT.

Aaah but the Premier League CAN get things wrong - just not as spectacularly as the Elite League seems to manage.

Cost Newcastle the Title last Season Dave - I agree they are exciting - but - the 'Play Off' Champions were most definitely NOT the League Champions. A Champions Cup at the end of the Season would be just as exciting and the Team that won that Competition would be the Premier League Champions Cup Winner. A League Championship is won over a whole Season - to say anything else is illogical. Because other Sports do it does not mean that we have to demean OUR Sport by doing the same thing. Double Points, Play Offs - no the wonder folk are deserting Speedway in their droves.
