  1. You probably wouldn't have any Speedway at all to watch...........................................................
  2. I enjoyed the Meeting last night. Shame about the rain though. Right decision was made by the two Captains and Team Managers to call it off - we don't need to see anyone hurt and Heat 12 did look decidedly dicey. What a great pleasure it was too to see, once again, a Brave Band of Plymouth Supporters who had made their way up to watch the Meeting. I made some friends from Plymouth last year and it was GREAT to see them again. I am determined to make the effort to get down and visit them at the SBA. For me, this is what Speedway is about. Best wishes to Plymouth for the rest of the Season - they have a pretty decent side this year - pity Ben Barker wasn't still riding for them - that would change a decent side in to a formidable one. Thank you for your company Plymouth Supporters - we had some fun.
  3. What's the Weather like over at Brough please - it's been raining fairly heavily here in Sunderland.
  4. As long as it's not a Meerkat..................
  5. I would imagine they are quite happy with them.
  6. Yes but the 'Speedway Star' only gets the odd mention - they don't talk about it. Things like saying 'it was in the 'Speedway Star' this week is hardly advertising in the accepted sense is it?
  7. Could you enlarge on that a little please Blazeaway? I don't really understand the "jobs for the boys" reference. I'm not being awkward, I'm not trolling - I would just like to know how you arrive at that viewpoint.
  8. Yes - we must be patient with Steve. I am expecting great things from both Worrall Brothers in the future.
  9. I'm looking forward to Sunday. I hope the Weather stays Fine and that we can have a good Meeting with no Casualties on either Team.
  10. For Pete's sake what is the matter with you. Does it REALLY matter whether some like the Commentators or not? I happen to like them, I don't know them, and I am NOT licking anyone's backside. Commentators are like Whisky, it's a matter of TASTE. Clearly these two are not to your taste and that is fine. I would be prepared to bet that MORE folk like them than dislike them. You always have the option of your 'Volume' Button or your 'Off' Button. I would suggest that you use them. It just MIGHT help you - though - I doubt it.
  11. 'Sigh'!!! The fact that the Commentators are mentioning 'Speedway Star' is a plus for Speedway as well as a plus for 'Speedway Star'. Newcomers will learn that there is a Magazine out there where they can follow up on the GP and may find out that there is a Track local to them in their area. They may even consider popping along to watch a Meeting live and become regular Supporters. Can you not see that Blazeaway? I am all for advertising anything that raises the profile of our Sport - what is so wrong with that? As for 'Speedway Star' benefiting - so it should, it is after all, the ONLY Weekly Magazine around for our Sport.
  12. In this instance it was problems with the Track that caused the delay at the Start of the Meeting.
  13. Well said that man!! Len Silver is a true Speedway man - I doubt if there is anyone currently in Speedway who has put as much effort in to the Sport as he has over the years. :approve:
  14. Very sad some of the comments on here. At Sunderland this is the FORTIETH year without Speedway. We have had no Promoter to rave at. I am not saying that you should accept poor Racing but surely if a big enough Group of you got together and approached the Promoter he would have to listen to your concerns. I was delighted when Leicester got it's own Track and all this talk of folk walking away is very depressing. I have never been to Leicester so please forgive my interjection but, as you know, you can be a very long time without Speedway. I wish Leicester Speedway well in the future.
  15. I understand that facilities for Training and Mechanical School (for want of a better name) will be at Belle Vue. So if that is so, and it is available to ALL would be Riders throughout the Country - then it is indeed a NATIONAL Stadium. Also - if holding Big Meetings there, International Matches, SWC etc. - then I think the name 'National Stadium' is pretty good and not the misnomer that you imply. It is certainly NOT a Marketing gimmick.
