Personally, I hope Gary does not take to the Track again. He has had a very long and distinguished career in Speedway. He is a former World Champion - you don't get much better than that. I have two reasons for not wanting him to Race again, firstly I would hate to see Gary injured further, the body can only take so much punishment. Secondly - I want to remember Gary Havelock as the GREAT Rider he was - I would take no pleasure in seeing him being beaten by opposition Reserves. Gary will always be a LEGEND to those on Teesside and elsewhere - that is the way he should stay. Drac - I agree with you about the Home and Away Meetings with Poole - a GREAT idea. :approve:

Would it not be better if all Posts were referencing Gary's situation. Squabbling like this seems a little pointless to me. Title of Thread seems reasonable too - I know where the complainants are coming from - however - this IS a Forum for friendly chatter, information etc. Surely we can all be mature enough to check out the Post first BEFORE assuming anything.

Odd this!! There does not seem to be much on this Thread about Gary Havelock, how he is or will he ride again. Puzzled.

Perhaps if EVERYONE had to go through Qualifying Rounds - things would be different.

Thank you for that. We've been saying that for a while. Ideally - I'd like both - but - if we can only have one of them I would prefer Robbo. Just my opinion.

Does EVERY Thread simply have to become Poole Speedway or Mr. Ford focussed. Some folk need to GET A LIFE - in my opinion. :sad:

Now - THAT is a great idea. :approve: The reason I particularly mentioned Robbo was in reply to Post No. 99 by Diamondsrock. His selected Team had no Robbo in it.

Basically because I think Robbo is a better Rider. I know he has roughly 0.1 lower Average than Rene - but he will increase that next Season I am sure.

Would that not create a monopoly which could, in the long term, make things even more expensive for Riders/Clubs? The other Suppliers would go to the wall, leaving the chosen Supplier in the position of charging what they like, because they would have no competition to force them to keep prices realistic.

My feelings exactly Dave. I have Posted consistantly on this. Sadly the Recession does not take in to account that Speedway people need to make some money too. With only 20% of the Cuts being effective at present - this implies that 80% are still to come. This means that there will be more than some Speedway Tracks going to the wall. We (and I include Speedway) are in for some VERY tough times ahead - we should not kid ourselves that we will be exempt from suffering problems - WE WON'T!!

I've tried to stay off this Thread but: Congratulations to the 'Scorpions' on winning the ''Play Off' Final - a fine performance. I cannot say "on the League Championship" because, in my mind you are not that - Newcastle finished top of the League over the Season thus are 'Champions'. I know the records will show different - that doesn't matter to me. The 'Play Offs' cannot be justified other than being a money making SCAM that has spoiled Speedway as Family Sport. How do you explain to a youngster that their Team finished top of the League, but are not Champions. It makes Speedway look silly and doesn't make sense. To those who say that everyone knew the Rules at the start of the Season - they are correct. There are, though, Good Rules and there are Bad Rules. However the fact that the 'Play Off' Champions are being, somewhat laughingly, called League Champions is one of the VERY bad Rules - it ruins Speedway's credibility. For what reason? A few more Meetings tagged on to an already too long a Season. I would very much like to go back to a PROPER League Championship in all Leagues - and to ditch the unfairness of it all permanently.. Believe me - there are a lot of folk who think the same as myself - I canvassed people at the last Meeting I attended.
