King's Lynn V Swindon 20th July 7.30pm
kelvinht replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I nearly didn't go in last night as I drove through a massive downpour just before reaching Kings Lynn, but it stopped raining and thought meeting would go ahead. Hadn't realised how wet the track was. Even so, once in, we were treated like lemons with virtually no information. The man on the mike should be in the pits and should be there to find out whats is going on, tell us fans, even interview riders to get their views on the track. We even knew it was off after the paramedic & co were called off the track, before it was announced officially. I understand trying a couple of races to see how the track would ride, in the past, after a few races the track can improve. Third bend was obviously an issue, after attempting that and still no good, the meeting should have been called off at that point after a reasonable amount of effort had been put in to save the meeting (ref. should have called it imo). As Buster was blading the top surface off it was easy to see how slippery the base was and it was clearly not gonna be fit to carry on. The bikes are obviously too powerful these days to cope with wet tracks (and dry ones sometimes) and something really does need doing with the rules around the engines to improve this. Even the shale needs looking at. You don't see sawdust tried these days, dunno if that would still help? Finally, who the f**k came up with the stupid rule about the using the centre green/grey to get to the tapes. What a waste of time -
Stars need a win tonight and against Swindon at home next week, then not lose anymore at home, pick up a few more points away from and we won't be far off a play off place. Lakeside are the weaker of the current top 4 for me, but Poole are Poole so don't bet against them either

Hoping for a similar atmosphere to Cardiff. Will there be a fanzone as well? ;-) Can't see past a kings Lynn win tbh

If I've read translation right, meeting cancelled and result stands after heat 12. Lambert through if thats the case but not cook -
Looked a standard EL crowd to me 1000+ Mads is not a heat leader these days and this format takes no prisoners

Most excellent night. Good racing, lots of over taking. Meeting moved along at good pace due to threat of rain. Decent crowd. presenter better tonight too. Expected to be beaten but cracking performance from lewis and finally batch looking much better More of the same..... please

1.7 over and two from bottom. No hope to strengthen up then and be competitive

Rory has tweeted he is back on a bike Surely he must fit back in in place of Jacobsen and huckenbeck? As averages must be low enough

Batch is carrying on where Bjerre left off last year :-( -
There were a few delays were the ref could have moved things on a bit quicker, but in the main it was numerous falls and track grades after every 4 heats. IMO under the circumstances it was just about as quick as it could have. My gripe would have to be the p1ss poor presentation as seems to be the norm these days. Was no better than elite league. The presenter didn't really present. I could read out the starting line up each race and just let music play in between times. Felt sorry for buster with the poor crowd. Hardly encouraging.

Danish Gp Horsens 11th June 2016
kelvinht replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In the old days, the ref sometimes used take into account earlier events a in a race - doesn't seem to happen these days. All NKI was guilty of was giving as good as he got, he just had the sense to back off when Nicki was hard on him.... -

She is doing an excellent job in the studio with Scotty. Very knowledgeable and asking all the right questions. -
Wilko looked half decent when he guested for us last season, but for some reason doesn't seem to be working for him. Shame, but we need to move on and give Rambo a try

Well done to the Stars. 2 points up going into heat 15 could have ended in tears. Luckily it was Fast Freddie's tears whose bike went pop at the start. Some excellent racing on a very cold night - is it really June!!! Rather uncharacteristic awkward looking fall for NIKI in heat 1 - thought were in for a long night, but after that was unbeatable Lewis Rose rode very well tonight in the top 5 and when he was in the mix defended his place very well. Probably my man of the match. Batch looks to me like he is struggling for fitness as seemed to be fighting with his bike just to turn left. Rambo scored well, although faded a little towards the end. Robert Lambert continues to impress Mads and Wilko seemed to struggle tonight, but did manage some crucial points between them. 6 point win was a fair result in the end -

3 reserves riding for the stars. And wolves have Kerr at reserve. Hoping for a home win but a lot depends on batch -
From a neutral who was visiting the area this weekend, thought Leicester did well to hold this to 42-42 after looking like it might be a lakeside walkover. Klindt (the skipper according to the announcer every 5 mins :-) ) certainly had his gating gloves on. Heat 15 always looked like a heat too far due lakeside's heat leader strength. The track alterations have certainly improved the racing from my last visit a couple of years ago.

weather looking drier for the evening now :-) -
Loved Pedersens interview. If Pawlicki should have shut then Pedersen should have shut off himself in last GP when Zagar went past. Pot..kettle...black springs to mind. Great meeting though after slow start. Racing like that would bring the crowds back, unfortunately most tracks in the UK don't even come close to allowing racing that good.

The clip of Jon Armstrong on BSPA site does indeed suggest this new track is going to serve up some cracking racing....
