Kings Lynn V Lakeside 1st Sept 2016
kelvinht replied to Hornsey's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Shock horror! Stars win, some superb racing. Reminded me why I enjoy speedway. Nice to see some pride and passion (from most of the team). Lakeside were good value to and deserved their consolation point. Niels win against a team riding Jonsson and Lawson through a gap that wasn't really there....just had to be seen to be believed Porsing made an excellent return, Kai had one of his best nights. Robert was Robert. Batchelor was worse than normal and that takes some doing....I do wonder if he is fully fit from last winter as he seems to struggle to turn the bike, often just drifting to mid track. This season has been a nightmare in every way possible, but was nice to have a good win. Rubbish presentation again. Lakeside ambled out and were ignored by everyone. Hope Porsing is ok, think he said something about his shoulder, but where I was standing between bends 1&2, could hardly hear the interviews over the tannoy. The interviews are a key way of filling in between races, but when you can't really hear them its no good. -

Hoping for a Stars win. Could be our last chance with only Poole left to come at home and I doubt we'll get much out of that. Lakeside never seem to do that well at the AFA, likewise Stars down London way, but too many potential weak links in the Stars team, so small win for the Stars...I hope! :-) Some good racing would make a pleasant change as well... -
Agreed, but still need to be on the front foot, not back foot...

Bachelor has managed to find his gating gloves of late. Unfortunately he just takes awful lines round bends 1 and 2 and stuffs up his own team mate then just ends up last. Big clear out needed for next season and a decision out of nki now about his plans so we can plan properly
-
Lewis has just tweeted he's snapped his collar bone in 3 places. Awful luck as he has been riding well. Gonna be a big miss for our remaining few matches Get well soon.....
-
That would just sum up our season. Hope Lewis is ok, he has been one of the few worth their place in the Stars team this season...

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The switch H to bring Rory back for Mads seemed a no brainier. Unfortunately Rory has struggled - fitness and or inner demons. would have probably been better sticking with Mads. The club are obviously having a look at porsing with a view to next season Have to wish Rory all the best for the future. He'd make a good promoter...

Hate these type of days. If I lived locally I'd definitely risk it, 120 mile round trip for a rain off or Swindon debacle take 2 I'm not so sure. But I really wanna be there.... -

On paper yes, on recent performances from the Stars I very much doubt..... -

I was pondering the Iversen question myself. With Polish and Swedish matches dropping off he might decide to ride. Same question applies to Woffy as well. Would be refreshing (but unlikely) for the club and / or Iversen to make an announcement early -
The biggest problem this season has been an under performing Rory and Troy. They really haven't recovered from their injuries. By now they should have been knocking in half decent scores - at least at home. A few more points from them last night would have made a huge difference.
-
Well what a pile of wotsit that was. Nearly every race over by bends 1/2. Plenty of effort from the Stars, but when we are constantly being outgated, it's an uphill task, add a few engine problems and the Robins breezed to a relatively easy win :-( Even NKI struggled out of the gate tonight, although Batchelor managed to get in his way a few times - not a good pairing. About the only rider to come out with much credit was Josh Bailey, who was on the pace and a tad unlucky to be excluded from his first ride.
-
Happy with Harris and Kerr as guests. We will need Huckenbeck to up his game. Good idea to give Josh Bailey an opportunity. Lanham has never ridden the AFA very well so think stars will edge this.
-
Definitely Nicholls would be a good call. We are too weak to use R/R.
-
2 days away and no team news as normal? Will NKI be there, Jacobsen or Huckenbeck and who is stepping in at reserve? Too many unknowns to have a stab a score, but hoping weather will be better than last attempt.

If we put out the same half-ars*d team as we have down in Dorset tonight think I'll save me pennies and stay at home. What is the point.... :-( -
What a farce of a team for the Stars. What is the point of announcing teams before a meeting if 2 out of 7 are wrong. Another typical example of fans turning up and find the promoters are taking the p1ss and not being particularly transparent with late changes.... Trades description act springs to mind
-
Presentation is still stuck in the 70's even though there has allegedly been improvements. There has to be more going on to grab the public's imagination in this day and age with a bit of razzmatazz. It's no wonder the crowds are dwindling
-
I prefer elite league, but one thing to bear in mind was when we were premier league there was no air fence. PL riders were beaten psychologically by the solid fence. Maybe different now...

King's Lynn V Swindon 20th July 7.30pm
kelvinht replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I nearly didn't go in last night as I drove through a massive downpour just before reaching Kings Lynn, but it stopped raining and thought meeting would go ahead. Hadn't realised how wet the track was. Even so, once in, we were treated like lemons with virtually no information. The man on the mike should be in the pits and should be there to find out whats is going on, tell us fans, even interview riders to get their views on the track. We even knew it was off after the paramedic & co were called off the track, before it was announced officially. I understand trying a couple of races to see how the track would ride, in the past, after a few races the track can improve. Third bend was obviously an issue, after attempting that and still no good, the meeting should have been called off at that point after a reasonable amount of effort had been put in to save the meeting (ref. should have called it imo). As Buster was blading the top surface off it was easy to see how slippery the base was and it was clearly not gonna be fit to carry on. The bikes are obviously too powerful these days to cope with wet tracks (and dry ones sometimes) and something really does need doing with the rules around the engines to improve this. Even the shale needs looking at. You don't see sawdust tried these days, dunno if that would still help? Finally, who the f**k came up with the stupid rule about the using the centre green/grey to get to the tapes. What a waste of time -
Stars need a win tonight and against Swindon at home next week, then not lose anymore at home, pick up a few more points away from and we won't be far off a play off place. Lakeside are the weaker of the current top 4 for me, but Poole are Poole so don't bet against them either
