Rye House V Ipswich Witches 9th April
Bash replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Congrats to Rye on the win but apart from Nico we were pants. Worst Witches performance I've seen at Rye in ages. Have to agree if Rye had a decent number 6 they would have a decent team, looking at him he would struggle at NL level. Looks like a lot of work has gone on around the stadium but what have they done to the track. The first and second bends is so narrow now that it is a one line track out wide, if you try the inside you go nowhere so its like follow the leader out wide. Couldn't believe they had a flat track race during the speedway meeting, couldn't that wait until after heat 15. Shame Edward didn't come out in heat 15, would've like to have seen him against Nico on gate 4. -
Ipswich Vs Sheffield Saturday April 2nd 7.30pm

R/R would be Covatti, Risager, Sarjeant and one of the reserves, as Kerr was the higher average rider to cover for Risager at Scunthorpe. -
What a excellent meeting for my first visit to Scunthorpe, shame the witches didn't get what their performance deserved with a win, but a draw is very welcome after Thursday night. I know it's all ifs and buts, but Paco breaking down on the last bend while winning heat 2 and on a 5-1 in heat 14 until Wilko crashed resulting in a 3-3 in the rerun. Hope Wilko is not too badly hurt. Danny still looked down on power and Sarjeant's bikes are still a concern. Nico and Lewis were excellent, surprised Lewis didn't get the nod in heat 15. Paco deserved more than his 2 points and Darryl threw away a point when he shut off too early to let Bailey pass him on the line. Chris Louis just needs to put some dirt on the witches track as today proved we have a team of racers if they have the material to work with.

Will be making my first trip to Scunthorpe on Sunday as staying in Stockport after attending Belle Vue's opening meeting. Not holding out much hope of Ipswich getting anything out of this meeting especially if we are without Morten, be lucky to hit 30 but it's another track ticked off. Just hope it's an entertaining meeting after the poor track at Ipswich Thursday.

Ipswich Vs Scunthorpe March 17th 7.30pm

Have to agree can't believe we haven't got a home meeting for another 16 days. With not running on good Friday we should run on the Thursday. They could've run the star of anglia to at least give our riders some more track time. With rye house not in our league cup group we could've started the season with a challenge match against them. Bit of poor planning with so many new riders in the team to go straight into a competitive match. -
I'll be going, been a long winter and want a fix of speedway even if it will be bloody cold.
-
So are they going to get them changed?
-
You would think the Kevlar manufacturers would be able to match a colour. Prefer the luminous to the other yellow ones. Team race suits would look better if they all match. Don't see the reason with changing the logo, the old one looked more modern.

I didn't understand like you on this one baldyman, us Essex Witches fans that don't live in Suffolk. I follow football but didn't know about that.
-
If it is we aren't very good at it as Morten only lowered his average by 0.5 of a point unlike someone else who lowered his by over 2 points. Morten's average seems to fluctuate around this half point margin so proves he has reached his limit.
-
And the loaning out of riders to rival teams to lower their average for the following season.
-
And the League Cup meetings.

Would it not have been easier for Edinburgh to choose a British rider and not an Aussie in the first place. Just because they don't agree with a rule they are now sticking two fingers up to British speedway. If it was another team trying this the Edinburgh fans would be complaining like all the other teams fan are. If it was my team trying this I would not be happy. We are struggling to fill teams as it is so we need to start protecting the Brits to get more into the Premier League and improve themselves as this rule was designed to do.
-
Maybe they use a different multiplier if they are classed as heat leaders due to the revised heat format meaning they ride against heat leaders in every race. Seems to be nearer 1.6.
-
All the other number 7's are born in the uk. If you check the rider index on the bspa site you will see. So who is this other rider then?
-
BWD isn't one of the 3pt number 7's, he is on a 5pt average. The national league obviously got it wrong last year.
-
The one team that is manipulating the rules, how is that fair on the other teams. It's not like other seasons when teams have manipulated the rules during the season so the rule can't be changed until the following season. This season hasn't even started so the rule can be changed surely before the season starts.
-
The more important point for me is the rule was brought in to help British riders make the jump from National League to Premier League, not Aussies. The season hasn't even started and a team is already manipulating the rules. They should close this loophole now before the season starts as Edinburgh still have time to find a British rider to fill this position.
-
You embraced the concept last season, yes you had a Brit and an Aussie on a British Passport that's true, but it doesn't make it right.
-
Not in the best interests of British speedway which the rule was brought in for. Should be a young British rider not an aussie who will never ride for GB if he was ever good enough.
-
I'm not an Edinburgh fan, but IMO they should be seeded to the final as reigning champions not Peterborough as hosts. If this is to be an annual event Peterborough will be in the final every year as they normally host the fours. Are they scared nobody will turn up on Sunday if Peterborough aren't in the final. If two riders from every losing team on the Saturday go to the individual meeting on Sunday two will be reserves, how are they going to decide this.
-
Also glad no bank holiday meetings at Ipswich as travelling the 60 miles along the A12 always took ages due to traffic on these days. I shall be taking in Peterborough as well on Easter Monday, hopefully the traffic won't be bad on the M11/A14.

Not according to Speedway star as his PL average is 9.18, plus he rides in Sweden on a Thursday.
