BERWICK v GLASGOW (BSN) April 15th - 7pm
Weeyin replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Confirmed that it is R/R for Tom, not great but hey ho we just need to get on with it, if Marcin get the hang of the track we might be ok -
Well said, unfortunately people don't understand mental health issues, I don't condone what Craig said but as a mental health nurse, I am aware that things can be said and done that people don't have the same control over. Mental health issues are very complex, there is often increased anger and frustration which people find difficult to deal with.

Agree with what you say, but some were really vile as he was leaving in his van , shouting at the incident is fine, but leave it there -
Glasgow v Edinburgh , Easter Sunday

Annoys me , this family sport thing, it is a high octane sport and emotions come into play, go to a football match and the language on the terraces is foul and there are plenty of kids there, go to ice hockey and there are fights galore and the kids love it, a bit of handbags at speedway adds to the atmosphere, where is the passion from fans, gentle clapping is fine for acknowledging a race win, but lets have some passion back at speedway, atmosphere at Edinburgh and Glasgow was fab, with banter between the 2 sets of fans. I was disappointed at some of the verbal aggression towards Cookie, it was a hard racing incident and he was excluded for it, no need for the verbal stuff from some Glasgow fans, after all he did us proud when at Glasgow, granted he had a very difficult year in 2022, it happens. Here's to some more cracking meetings between the 2 clubs -
Great to see Claus starting as he finished when last at Glasgow, paid 20 for first 2 meetings is a great start. Thought Marcin would have got zero at Armadale but as I was saying to monarch fans before heat 8 that it would be a 5-1 to them, he comes out with a win, although he is a different beast at Glasgow, just need some away points , was impressed with Lee at Glasgow, he should beat the 2 pointers in the league and hopefully a few second strings as well. All in all a good start to the season.

Glasgow v Edinburgh , Easter Sunday
Weeyin replied to Weeyin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well that was a meeting that had everything, passes galore and tbh , at one point I thought the bonus point was going to go the way of the monarchs, but the incident in heat 9 turned it all around in the Tigers favour, until then I thought Cookie was going to go through the card with a maximum. Josh and Craig are a powerful pairing for heats 13 and 15. Thought Kye and Jacob started well but the Monarchs 2 and 4 couldn't compete with Nowak and Vissing and that made all the difference. -
So , 1st match done at Armadale, with a very large crowd, hopefully Monarch fans will come through in numbers to support their team, not a great deal of passing on Friday but the few that were, was sublime, close result, which is what I expected. I can see Cookie going through the card on Sunday but expect Glasgow to win and get the bonus point, but you never know what can happen in speedway.

A bit unfair of your review on Nowak as he only rode in 3 away tracks in 2021, granted he did nothing at Berwick or Edinburgh, but they are traditionally difficult tracks for newcomers, he got 5+1 at Poole, he also had only his Polish engine which is too strong for UK tracks, this season he has brought his own equipment and engines will not be tuned to Polish tracks, I don't expect him to get double figures away from home but he should at least get a couple of points away from home, lets face it , no-one expected him to win heat 8, I think he will do well at a couple of tracks, might struggle at Plymouth and Berwick but will more than make up for it at home
-
Don't mind the race suits, but hate matching bike covers, more difficult to recognise the rider unless they have distinct wheel rims or mud guards. Also if there are changes and you can't hear announcement , you have to wait and check number on the rider's back

SGB Championship 2023 Confirmed Signings
Weeyin replied to Nickinho's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Because it is interesting to see starting teams each year -
Well, we don't get your lovely weather, rains all the time up here and track was rideable, but not raceable
-
So my predictions for league positions before play offs are Glasgow Redcar Poole Plymouth Scunthorpe Oxford Edinburgh Berwick Birmingham As for eventual winners of play off, Poole as they know how to finish the job, they also tend to be very lucky in avoiding injuries, Glasgow have a strong team but we must have broken a few mirrors as when in contention we have had injuries which have hampered us greatly, also I think there is too much pressure put on the team to win. Although I like challenging for honours , I miss the times when we had fun celebrating if we hit 30 points away from home. Has got a bit too serious now. I will add that for entertainment value, we have that in spades with this team, a case of watching through your fingers.

Have great memories from Shawfield days, had a gap from speedway before returning in 2009 to Ashfield, didn't take long to be addicted again, having experienced the heydays in the 70's with numerous teams it is sad that we are down to current levels, it is still a magical sport, hoping that it doesn't disappear altogether in next few years
-
Will probably be after main meetingp
-
Hampden, coatbridge, Shawfield, Ashfield ( all Glasgow) powderhall, armadale, (Edinburgh) Linlithgow, Paisley, Berwick ( Shielfield and Berrington lough) Newcastle, Redcar, Workington, Scunthorpe, Stoke, Mildenhall, Milton Keynes, Ipswich, Peterborough, Belle Vue, (all tracks,) Wolverhampton, Leicester, Poole, Birmingham, Plymouth, Kent, Rye house, Wimbledon, Somerset, Sheffield, Oxford, Coventry, Cradley, a few now defunct unfortunately,

Scunthorpe food is good as is Redcar, Edinburgh food is not bad too, but their hospitality food is excellent and worth the money. Glasgow used to have fab food but since it became outsourced , I am not fond of it at all and it is expensive, gone are the days of homemade soup
-
On the home front towards the new season, looking forward to it with an exciting team of racers. Can we do better? Hopefully we can stay injury free for a change, regardless of outcome, I am sure we will be entertained at Ashfield, however I may have to watch through my fingers !!! Mon the Tigers

We are at Poole the week before on July 5th

Almost into 2023, Happy New Year to all speedway fans, hope we can see some great racing and meet new fans

Yeah it was all fine when we were bottom of the league every year but changed when Facenna's took over, we now have a lovely stadium, great facilities and a team that challenges for the top, however ,I miss the old family atmosphere, I couldn't care if we won the league or not, I do like that we have exciting racing and to me that is the most important issue.
