  1. Surely Elliot Kelly will be back? Him & Leek would be very good reserves and not use up a lot of points. Yes. His Championship average is too high to allow him to do both leagues.
  2. All that does is skew riders’ averages massively and create a massive problem the next season. Not to mention the boring heat formula.
  3. It’s a strong top 4 with particularly improvement potential in Atkins who could easily add 2-3 points on his average. But it looks a poor bottom 3. The third signing is likely to be Bursill and none of those 3 have really pushed on at all despite having opportunities. It’s hard to judge when there isn’t other teams to compare against but the top 4 should win them most meetings at home and get the odd points away. It looks like a team that’ll be around 4th and get a play-off spot but they’re lacking something at the bottom end to really make them a title contender.
  4. I would be happy with keeping 6 that ended last year and replacing Wood with someone upto 7.87. But the options are limited and it becomes Edwards (who I suspect is in demand), Jack Smith, Connor Coles, Connor Bailey (presumably at BV), James Cockle, Paul Hurry, Jon Armstrong, Dan Greenwood or Ben Hopwood (!). So realistically only the first 3 options are probably viable and they depend on money.
  5. Couldn’t Gilkes & Jenkins be the top 2?
  6. I hope the reserve assumes the average of the rider he’s replacing in the race. Else if you have a superstar reserve then you could purposely do that to bring him in and start him at the tapes. I’d like to think that a heat leader wouldn’t just ‘not fancy it’ seeing as he knows he won’t get paid to stay in the pits but could easily come third and get paid for second.
  7. What about 1. Coles 2. Embleton 3. Marson 4. MacDonald 5. Ruddick 6. Millar 7. Freeman
  8. It’s a maximum of 1 rider per team that’s averaged over 4.00 at some point. Not that they can’t ride at all.
  9. Seeing as Edinburgh knew they were doing this, wouldn’t you have expected a youngster in their team at number 7 that could’ve raced for the Armadale Devils? Someone like Coles or Ruddick.
  10. They seem to have got it about right tbf. The points limit situation is better than last season and not much else you could’ve done meetings wise when there’s only 3 stand alone teams in the league. Hopefully the shared events get adequately supported. Nice to see a new team come in but I fear for the long journeys those Northern riders are going to have to make regularly and likewise for the riders of other clubs on a Friday night.
  11. NL AGM 2019 Key Points •Armadale Devils join alongside Isle of Wight, Kent, Mildenhall, Belle Vue, Plymouth & Leicester with the top 4 into the Play-offs. •Points limit increases to 39.00 with 3.00 the new minimum. •NLKOC Semis: Leicester vs IOW Mildenhall vs Plymouth. •NT: IOW, Mildenhall & Plymouth. •NLRC at Mildenhall. •NL Pairs at Isle of Wight. •NL Fours at Plymouth.
  12. It’s been discussed on the ‘2020 season’ thread. Len Silver has co nfirmed that Kent intend to ride NL next season.
  13. If the master plan is to drop Stoneman and then have x2 4pt riders at reserve then it’s still not an amazing team. History has shown us that you don’t need 2 ‘good’ reserves, but you need 1 ‘excellent’ one and tbh the other will only take 3 rides regardless.
  14. Seeing as May expects his converted average to drop. Who has he cynically planned to drop from the team and bring in?
  15. Ostergaard doesn’t feel like the usual high calibre relationship of Glasgow signing to me. Debatably neither does Sedgmen. I expected a 2.00 rider and a strong second heat leader.
  16. Easier said than done though. A low NL points limit could push out the likes of Morley, Wood & Bowtell who would be prime candidates to take over Ledwith’s position. Without an NL team, they’d be coming in from the cold midseason in a higher league.
  17. Barker, Bates and Stoneman in the same team? Expect some air fence panels to be burst
  18. Ben Morley must be wondering what he’s done wrong to not be in the team on 3.91 but Ledwith is in on 4.00. Btw it’s a crazy assessment giving him a 4.00. He clearly should be a 2.00 by coming up through up the NL, where he was barely a heat leader in reality. How he can have a higher assessed average for a higher league is just ridiculous!
  19. So Len Silver says the suggestion is 7 NL teams... 1. Kent 2. Isle of Wight 3. Mildenhall 4. Plymouth 5. Leicester 6. Belle Vue 7. Rye House?
  20. Wasn’t Nick Morris relatively your worst rider this season? I’m surprised he’s back.
  21. I think this is the most detached and disappointed I’ve ever felt in regards to the National League. It really does seem like we’ve lost our third tier
  22. Tbf now it’s Birmingham fans giving support to their team. Some neutrals are still skeptics. He’s really declined from a few years ago hence why he’s not employed in Poland and he’s never been the most reliable guy around. Having said that you still wouldn’t expect his average to go any lower.
  23. Wow shaping up to be an excellent team to watch. The management team are pulling out the stops to make it feel like a genuine top division team.
