  1. So the BSPA rules that Clegg must ride for Newcastle and not at the NLRC despite their own rule book saying he should be at the NLRC
  2. Ridiculous! This is a cup final that’s been known about for a few days now. That’s a challenge meeting that only got announced yesterday and GB could pick anyone they wanted!
  3. The problem with your suggestions S4K, is if the league title is decided in say August then doesn’t it make all the other meetings anti-climatic? There’s be terribleness attendances for NT fixtures in September when your club has had an awful league campaign and there’s no optimism left. An alternative would be to actually start the whole campaign at a reasonable time at the start of April and have regular meeting at throughout the summer without long gaps between home fixtures. Then all the competitions can conclude at a reasonable time to allow the play-offs and cup finals in early September. Then use late September in case of rain-offs and October can be season finale one-off meetings like Cradley’s Hammer meeting, IOW ran a 3 team tournament and Kent would run one this year if they hand time!
  4. Totally agree. But what would the punishment be? A 28 day ban throughout November?!
  5. Get them as a double act to lead the whole of British Speedway!
  6. Morley hasn’t had the season that Perks has, but around Central Park is there really anyone better?
  7. So it’s a time Kent on Monday and Leicester on Wednesday. Looks like Leicester will be missing Perks at Central Park! Also I’m surprised Leicester are running on a Wednesday. Thoughts?
  8. Yeah and Hopwood & Clifton were on low averages and Silver loves Bowen so they weren’t leaving. It’s almost like other promoters thought the prospective team would’ve been too good!
  9. Yes that definitely happened cos didn’t they have Ayres and Stoneman that year or something? But then the average limit dropped lower than expected.
  10. Is that the Premiership play-off final date?
  11. Georgie Wood was offered a place in this meeting but has a prearranged grasstrack meeting already in his calendar. So Verge is the Warriors’ second representative and, of course, has knowledge of the track having been a Stags rider. Looking down the field, lots of riders have called this home or done many practice/amateur meetings there.
  12. Yes I am using official averages used for team building purposes and they only include league meetings.
  13. You can’t rule out Kinsley, he’s very fast round the EWR and beaten some good names.
  14. Yep all the top 6 teams had Gilkes & Palin but a lot of others went with 1 or both of the Thompson’s.
  15. I wouldn’t be surprised if we only saw 3 or maybe 4 of those at this level next season.
  16. So the winner is iand and his team was: Perry (8.06 to 8.50), Ledwith (3.50 to 5.93), Stoneman (7.61 to 8.22), R. Andrews (5.92 to 6.55), Edwards (6.73 to 7.53), Gilkes (2.00 to 8.00) & Palin (2.00 to (8.82). Congrats! 1. Iand 53.55 2. Flipper11 53.18 3. DJC 52.52 4. Walter Plinge 52.21 5. Hawks-1975 52.19 6. Adz 51.85 7. Islander15 51.40 8. Dandelion 50.65 9. Teaboy279 49.85 10. Sings4Speedway 49.72 11. Meridian 49.03 12. Iron Scorpion 48.99 13. Johnnybegood 48.59 14. SKJ 47.97 15. Bez 47.07 16. BobC 45.12 17. Robbo 42.51 18. Bluenose 39.07 19. Blueherb777 38.37
  17. Remains to be seen how many big name riders are missing, seeing as Stoke are getting 3 representatives!
  18. Yes and that’s the big problem with adding them to a competitive league: fans won’t pay to watch predictable follow the leader races. They want results but they also want entertainment, especially when the league would be seriously diluted to bring in 250cc racing.
  19. Tbf it’s no debate between the two. Stef had a poor season this year but on that average and down at reserve he’d be a steal round the EWR! Plus Lambert won’t go higher than a 5pt average and he could even have to start at number 2.
  20. Strange reply. Barry Bishop races on a Thursday and Rob McCaffrey explains why. Im sure Plymouth must get a fair proportion of fans from holiday makers but by not riding on their traditional Friday night or alternative Saturday night then they’re missing out on those on a long weekend. That could even be a long weekend speedway holiday! Looking up and down the country, fans get into a routine of what night to go and at some clubs that’s been midweek for years but other’s can only get them to come when it’s a Friday night or weekend. Look at Leicester & Rye House recently or Lakeside’s Sunday NL attendances. Finally I wouldn’t regard Scunthorpe as a team that win at home. Only 6 home league wins from 10 this season. I recall a similar record last season. What they do is pride themselves on an entertaining track and sign relatable riders that are loyal.
  21. I’d rather not accept the reality yet
  22. A Tuesday night has been proposed. How can a Tuesday night bring in more fans than the current Friday night? Seems a massive financial risk to me.
  23. Even if fans come back to watch higher league racing, they still want to see a winning team. The current promotion can’t do that in the NL so I can’t see why they could do it in the Championship. Look at the Masons and their abysmal Championship results. A big risk imo. Alternatively they could be thinking it’s the Championship or bust as fans wont watch to pay to watch a 4/5 team glorified MDL level NL. Worrying times for the league.
