Marketing for local support + speedway hardcore wanting to save the club.
-
Assuming there is a successful businessman or woman willing to take over the Devils, how-about the powers "that be" allow a Race meeting Plymouth v Somerset with all riders getting a sponsor to cover their cost & all others DONATING MINIMUM £20 to watch the meeting. I think 2,000 people could be rallied to support the cause allowing debts to be cleared! I know it's a big if????????????
-
Best man to save Plymouth would be Chris Dawson (CDS & The Range) Nothing much wrong with the Plymouth team or the track..........Huge crowd potential on the doorstep.... only needs good sales & media people to sell the product. I have been in business for many years & can see NO REASON why Plymouth could pull crowds of 2 to 3 thousand every week. Next best man MIGHT be Matt Ford???? but no Mike Bowden PLEASE!

By the looks of the Sky B/V v Poole Simon is keen for a future as a model or a manikin!!! Seriously Guys & Gals Simon would bring a refreshing change to the existing Sky speedway team ohhh ohhhh ohhhhh.

I hope Leigh is invited to the end of season D&D where he can entertain with his brilliant Gary May impressions!!!!!!!
-
Great news that Leigh will has a team place & great news that Leigh is still keen to ride this season. The only effect Leigh's sacking will have or has had on Somerset is that some other riders have pulled their socks up! I have been involved with Speedway for over 50 years & think Gary's decision to drop Leigh one of the worst ever. Meanwhile I recon that there must be 50 or so (per week) ex Exeter & Newport fans now giving the Oaktree Arena a miss - that's something like £500 to £1,000 lost income!!!! P.S. On the whole I think Gary May is not such a bad person.
-
I feel sorry for Leigh as he has done exceptionally well for the rebels this year & certainly not the team member that deserves to be dropped! With my business head on Leigh has enjoyed good support this season from "Exeter" fans so the change will not good business for Somerset if they stop coming! Good luck to Leigh where ever you find yourself, with a team or retired............... Sorry.... Newport fans as well.

Somerset Vs Glasgow 17/07/15 Premier League
Ghosty replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sadly I see the Rebels hitting 60 tonight, although it would be good for the Tigers & their guest to make the starts & provide some passing opportunities for the on-fire Rebels. -
Mildenhall 40th Anniversary Palmer Trophy 28th June

Bring back Huggy..............HUGGY, HUGGY, HUGGY, ---------HOYE,HOYE,HOYE, -
I have been involved with Speedway for a long time & consider that the teams Chris Louis has put together since their drop back to the premier league have been title favourites year on year. Just why they don't show their promise/potential is a mystery to me as well as Chris Louis & many others I guess!

Exeter Falcons V Cradley Heathens 26/06/2015
Ghosty replied to Wiseguy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Cradley............. PLEASE do not use rider replacement, there must be a rider somewhere keen to get a ride! With Bradley Wilson Dean Exiting that's all we need? Full commitment needed from both teams & management to make this a success. -
The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
Ghosty replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Facts are BWitcher Nikki's actions could have caused serious injury. Facts are Nikki has done this time & time again. Facts are (I'm sure) you have never ridden a speedway bike or motor cycle & therefore would have no idea the vulnerable situation Greg was in. -
The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
Ghosty replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
People comparing Greg's reaction to Nikki Pedersen's move have never ridden speedway or any form of motor cycle. Facts are Nikki's move could have caused serious injury or worse, Greg's reaction was more likely to cause injury to Greg himself! remember Nikki still had his helmet on. It is true Nikki is Mr Nice Guy off track but transforms in to Mr Dirty Bast##d on track, should have been banned from many a meeting! -
Somerset V Rye House 5/6/2015
Ghosty replied to rustyre bel1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As said heat 13 should be used to advertise SOMERSET SPEEDWAY! not sure about UK SPEEDWAY as very few tracks produce racing like that on a regular basis. Even the 95 year old? Len Silver was astatic about heat 13 even if it was a Rebels 5-1. It has been great racing @ the Oaktree this year so speedway supporters "come on down" (or up) & see some more great racing. -
Plymouth V Scunthorpe Sat 30/5
Ghosty replied to Penny Cross's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If Alan Trump does "come on board" will he/the club honour their debts within the Speedway community? Plymouth has every chance to be a profitable club if the right people "PROMOTE" the sport to the people of Plymouth. -
Tampere Gp
Ghosty replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have been involved with Speedway since 1966, could never get enough of it. I choose to miss the Tampere GP (being shown @ the local Pub) which would have been the first I've missed by choice. Or own Elite league is now guess the guest & that's not one per team but several. Speedway has to reinvent itself on all levels if it's going to survive, do others agree? -
Rebels V Tigers Fri 1st May
Ghosty replied to rustyre bel1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I have every confidence that Sissis will make the grade if he sticks to it. Saw him @ Somerset on Friday he got better with every ride. On Benji Compton, he is trying but he's only 80% up to the mark. If Somerset COULD find an alterative rider that averaged 4 points from reserve you would have the top team in the league! -
Sheffield Vs Somerset Pl 23/04/2015
Ghosty replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Like many before him Leigh Lanham now has a home track he enjoys riding - therefore enjoying being a Speedway Racer home & away!! -
Somerset Vs Poole Challenge Match 27/03/2015
Ghosty replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is a complete let down (the Poole line-up) & one of the main reasons why UK Speedway is in the state it is in. Not completely Matt Fords fault but once a clash of fixtures was known the date should have been changed or meeting cancelled. UK Speedway Europe's poor relations!!!!!!!!! -
Todd Kurtz............ Is he not sponsored by the Driller Man....one of the Sheffield promoters!!
-
Surely the UKBA should determine who should/should not be allowed to compete in UK speedway. The riders average is an internal & unique to speedway toll that in theory allow teams to be evenly matched, therefore nothing to do with UKBA but with the BSPA itself.
-
Sorry that my input has stalled this topic, but please tell me who can expect a first year Australian (or Kiwi)to attain a 7 point average in the Premier League. May-be we should have drug & alcohol test before any BSPA or SCB voting!
-
Who is it that has decided that young none EU riders come straight into the Premier on 7 points, with no league/ team riding experience it's far to high. However if assessed averages were done fairly in the first place, then that should be the minimum figure used for all future team building etc. I am all for developing British riders & the place to start is the Nat/Conference league. Other then the team captain/coach all riders should be potential Premier/ Elite material or move over! We have far to many very keen fathers of no more than average talented son's it's them that are blocking new talent coming through!
-
Tips for the BSPA meeting. Speedway GB has never been in such a mess time for a complete shake-up. 1. Get back to the basics. 2. Do a list of what's good. 3. Do a list of what's bad. 1. BASICS: Speedway should be about 4 riders of similar ability racing for 4 laps on a well prepared track - this is guaranteed to give close & hopefully exciting racing.........not rocket science. Presentation can be abysmal, track preparation like wise, yet has the BSPA ever ran training days for either? Teams should have continua-tee season to season, loyalties should work both ways. Fans & local sponsors get cheesed off with wholesale changes. 2 & 3 please post your list........ trouble is will any promoters take any notice?

Well said, however many of todays fans will question "Terry Tulloch's" who's he! well he was one of the many Neil Street protégées unfortunately when he started to knock-up the points big time he packed up returned to Aussie to shoot kangaroos......known as TT.
