  1. Sorry you are right, it flows past the back of the pits doesn't it. I think I was using yards as a counter to miles. Yet another Senior Moment.
  2. Yes, it's the Lea Navigation that is about 200 yards from the track.
  3. When the Airfence went in last year it did restrict the view on the bends, so as far as I know the work in progress is new banking at both ends to rectify this. Haven't been there since Raiders P&P day as have been unwell but work on bends 3 and 4 seemed to be well underway. I'm sure that someone who really knows what is going on will post on here before too long.
  4. I think you have hit the nail on the head with this. I'm sure it is the on/off nature of the power delivery and very narrow power band as opposed to a nice broad torque curve and progressive power delivery controlled by the riders right wrist that is causing a lot of the problems. Gerry King was developing a GM motor with the old JAP longstroke dimensions which had a couple of outings at Rye House, but with very limited resources it is a slow process.
  5. A decent sized crowd will certainly create an "Intimate Atmosphere" in the currently available space.
  6. I'll be happy to see all fourteen riders riders finish the meeting uninjured, unlike previous seasons where the Rockets v Witches clash has been the opening meeting.
  7. Noticed that the News Item on the Rye House Website regarding the Stadium improvements has been taken down. Hope that doesn't mean they have run into problems.
  8. http://speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.28380 Looks like He's been given the "Spanish Archer" by Coventry
  9. Is that with a coupon from Speedway Star as in previous years or the "On the gate price" on the day?
  10. It seems a pity to deprive yourself of the pleasure of a battle of wits against an unarmed man. I find it irksome some people are happy to undermine the team or individual rider's performances before a wheel has been turned.Plenty of time for that once the season is underway. The " Disruptive Influences" might have gone from the pits but it would appear they are still active on the keyboard.
  11. Or possibly He might have returned too soon from a very serious injury and given that at the time, from memory Rye House wasn't exactly brimming with "Team Spirit", thought that maybe it wasn't a good time to stick his neck on the line. He has had a winter to recover and regroup ,and this year, a couple of Scandanavian team mates, so no reason to doubt that He will have a good season and be a Heat Leader.
  12. I was wondering if this "defection" has come before or after the "Team Bonding" jolly on the Ski slopes.
  13. I'm surmising that this 2 valve Jawa engine is lower revving than the 4 valve motors due to having larger valves with greater inertia,so possibly produces more torque over a greater rev range from maybe having a longer stroke. If so that would allow tracks to be prepared with a bit more dirt on them so it could be like turning the clock back to the Good Old Days.
  14. Lets hope we don't hit the bugger and sink then.
  15. Of course Rye can finish in the top six. With a good team spirit, the crowd behind them, and the track prepared the way the riders want it. Why not? If this team go out and give it their all and provide close entertaining racing then they will be a top team no matter where they finish in the league.
  16. Because he's an a##ehole that's why. Petition signed, it's not only speedway but all Motorsport Venues that are affected.
  17. Going by the comments on this thread if I was running the Bend 4 Trackshop I would be stocking up on some Wooden Spoons engraved with " Rockets 2014/5 Double winners". Could be their biggest sellers. Come on people, give the guys a chance, nobody has turned a wheel yet and we all know how the perfect team on paper can be decimated by injury in the first meeting of the season. The team is what it is, so let's get behind them and who knows what could be achieved. Could be Silver Spoons instead of Wooden ones. Oops unintended pun there.
  18. I'm sure I saw it posted somewhere that it was a mile nearer than Ipswich our other closest PL rivals. "local" rather than local then?
  19. Great News, superb venue and a local derby for us. Cant wait to visit again again and watch our lads turn you over like they did last March.
  20. The Supermarket Reference Library. Ya can't beat it.
  21. Perhaps the Scorpions were saving themselves for the play offs but you can only beat what's put in front of you and this was the biggest win of the season. Really hope the lads can carry this over to this afternoon at Peterborough and end the season on a high as they started it. I was very impressed with Edward Kennett's speech to the fans at the end of the meeting.
