  1. This re-arranged fixture from an earlier rain off (hope our tickets are still valid) brings down the curtain on the Rockets season. Hopefully they will be as successful as they were at the curtain raiser and end the season as they started with a win. Simon Lambert guests for the Rockets and he scored 5 in March, so I would imagine the Panthers guests will be crucial to the final result.
  2. I thought so at the start of the year. When the Rockets beat the Panthers at the Showground in that first meeting I thought it could be 2007 again, Can't believe how things have fallen apart.
  3. Well done to Eddie for winning Heat 15 so the Rockets got all 3 points from the meeting. Whether because it was because of the meagre crowd but I thought the team looked pretty hacked off on the truck on their parade lap and not like a team that had just taken maximum points and won the meeting. Anyone else notice this?
  4. Having been caught out at Peterborough earlier this month, I am coming round to your way of thinking. Let's just hope that the weather will allow us to see the Re-vamped Team in action and put the disappointment of rain offs and indifferent results behind us.
  5. With my enthusiasm re-kindled by Luke's Testimonial last Sunday I was disappointed when this was called off but wondered if perhaps it wasn't the rain but the possibility of the dust storms which made viewing on the first bend uncomfortable last week which led to the cancellation. What happened to the additive they used last year to alleviate this problem. I am seriously considering the wisdom of spending £20+ on petrol to redeem our rain off tickets at Peterborough or making any further plans to watch Home matches which now seem to be called of on a whim.
  6. Well the weatherman got it well and truly wrong last Sunday so hopefully his form will continue and the match will be on. The possibly complacent Panthers could be "Cruisin ' for a Bruisin'" as surely the Rockets couldn't be on the receiving end of another thrashing at home like the last one. The BSPA site quotes Jason Garrity as going to do everything perfectly, so there's 15 points straight away and the rest of the Team must have been buoyed up by the atmosphere at Lukes testimonial which needs to be generated and maintained for the rest of the season by all of us, promotion, riders and fans.
  7. Thanks to the Panthers Fans who posted the short cuts from the A1. We used them both ways and so easy. Been coming up for the BMF Show for several years but our first time for Speedway was in March for the Rockets visit. Shame about the rain off tonight, we arrived at 1850hrs were admitted, bought our excellent Fish and Chips and had just sat down to enjoy them when the announcement was made. As a venue the Showground makes Rye House look a bit shabby and I am surprised at the lack of local support especially as it's only a Tenner for Old Gits like to get in. Wish I lived nearer.
  8. As has already been stated, very difficult to call. We could either be basking in the evening sunshine, enjoying a delicious portion of fish and chips watching the team roar to a convincing 20 point victory and then off home to watch the GP which was recording while we were out. Or we could be sweltering in the oppressive heat, getting bitten to buggery by the midges, reminiscing on how good the fish and chips used to be, watching the team get another tonking and wishing we had stayed at home and watched the GP.
  9. Agreed, the Police find my Bike more photogenic than the Car.
  10. Not only in Britain. Tonight's televised Swedish League match has just been called off. Not even Eurosport could save it.
  11. Should guarantee the area will be bathed in sunshine for the next 24 hours then.
  12. Met Office forecast is pretty dire but it was before the last call off as well. Hell of a journey for a last minute call off. Glad it's not my call.
  13. Impressive at Rye House tonight. Blasting round the outside on Turn 4 and down the straight right on the fence, looked to be really going for it. Very entertaining.
  14. Looks like the same will apply on Wednesday looking at the Weather Forecast. Raining every day including Wednesday.
  15. And decent Fish and Chips would go a long way to consoling us if we lost out after some Good Close Racing
  16. Rye House are playing the "Long Game" this season and the current part of the plan is to lull the opposition into a sense of false superiority. Don't worry, it will all come good in the end. 2005 and 2014 both add up to 7.
  17. I see the much maligned Simon Lambert scored 5+1 for Birmingham last night, so perhaps He might lift his home game to become The Rockets Saviour on the night. I hope that my feelings that Mr G might be more focused on His performances for Coventry Bees than the Rockets are unfounded. I still think this year could be another 2005 if we can get all seven riders on track and scoring points.
  18. Jack Burnicle usually does the World Superbikes and British Superbikes on Eurosport accompanied by Jamie Whitham who does a fair job of keeping him in order.
  19. Signed and forwarded to friends to sign as well. I did hear that the People who moved into those new flats near the track had to sign an agreement that they couldn't complain about the noise from the track but don't know if there is any truth in that.
  20. First visit to The Showground for me and I was impressed especially at £10 entry for old gits like me. I thought we were going to lose when Panthers got the 5-1 in Heat 14 but what a great start to the season. Well done the Rockets.
  21. One of the bikes was Gerry King's GK Long Stroke Conversion which Steve was kind enough to do a few laps on and give valuable feedback.
  22. I attained my Masters Degree in Dead Horse Flogging by suggesting that we all go to Rye House one Saturday evening.
  23. Last night I hosted a quiz night at a Motorcycle Club but which I will not name and shame. When I posed the question "Who was the 2013 World Speedway Champion and has just been voted MCN Man of the year?" I was rewarded by eighteen blank stares, so it appears that the Sport's profile hasn't been raised despite the Lads considerable achieivements.
