As soon as I saw the name on the thread title it rang a bell. John was a keen clay pigeon shooter also, and it was through that sport my Dad came to know him well. I can remember him telling me he used to ride speedway for Norwich and I can also remember the tragic accident that sadly took John's life.

I remember one meeting back in the 70's at King's Lynn, some geezer gave Bob some lip from the crowd whilst Bob was on the parade truck. Bob jumped off the truck, and over fence and into the crowd and punched the bloke smack in the chops!!! He also opened my village fete one year. What a true Star he was.

Just remember that a fair few on here also get pissed off with hearing how wonderful Middlo is day in day out. It works both ways.
