Good luck to Tomas Topinka in this meeting. Going to be a busy weekend for him with PT final on Sunday. Can't believe its almost a year ago that Toni passed away. -
LOL

Agreed, superb meeting and congrats to the Poles for their win. Failed? I think you should be looking a bit closer to home for the failures of the evening!! Looking forward to the excuses..... Shocking display by Team GB.

World Cup At Coventry
Shortcrust replied to Gemini's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As I was saying above... Scott Nicholls on BSPA website today.... "Scott Nicholls is tipping Great Britain for a world cup rostrum place in Leszno on Saturday. Neil Middleditch's men will face Denmark and two other nations out of the race-off between Australia, Poland, Sweden and Russia on Thursday. Skipper Nicholls said 'We all showed good form to qualify from Coventry and if we can ride like that in the final we'll have a great chance of finishing in the TOP THREE" Surely he should be aiming for the top of the rostrum every time? Sounds like Scotty boy won't mind coming third. -
Matty Allitt

Heard at King's Lynn that Matty had had an accident of some kind but didn't quite hear over the bikes what happened. Poor little chap. Keep smiling Matty and very best wishes for a speedy recovery. -

Great post Lupus, couldn't have said it better myself. -

I will include myself of course as being one of the 'etcs'. Maybe because some of Team GB in the past have come across as being negative themselves imo. Nicholls in the GP's, always hoping to make the semi's? Why not the final? The best thing to happen to Team GB of late is of course Chris Harris, one Brit I do have time for and love watching ride. The reason for that is because he's exciting to watch, and that is the very same reason I love to watch the Danes ride. Excitement and the want to win. -

Here we go again, was waiting for that old chestnut to be brought up somewhere along the line. Ouch that's low , but to be expected I suppose. -
Well done Lego, many congratulations on qualifying.

Harris and Nicholls on Radio 2 NOW.

Where Are You Sitting?

Cos they don't want their money lining BSI's (or whatever they're called now) pockets? -
They can't be THAT bad..... can they?...

Videoed the show and just watched it. Very well done to Vic for reaching the final. Agree Shazzy, didn't like her at all. Such a shame a stab in the dark won it for her as she didn't look like she knew the answer. Don't get me started on Eggheads, absolutely detest ALL of them. All far too up themselves, specially that CJ bloke.

Today's Speedway Star reports that former rider, promoter and Secretary of the World Speedways Riders Association Vic White, will tonight take part in The Weakest Link. He says he managed to get a couple of plugs in for the sport.

Probably something to do with who wants to be Top Dog in Danish speedway.

Yes well done Andreas, well deserved. So glad Nicki got the second place to keep him well in the running for top spot. Looks like Andersen got a touch of the boo hoo's tonight..... bless him. Gone down rapidly in my estimation tonight.

New Bad Crash In Sweden
Shortcrust replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Such sad sad news. RIP Kenny. -
Finished reading this wonderful book last night. I started reading it about a week ago. Very true that once you start reading it you can't put it down. I was only 10 years old at the time of Tommy's death, but I can remember very clearly my dad coming home from work one lunchtime and telling my mum and I that he'd just heard the news of Tommy's death on the radio. A very sad time. Although I have no memories of watching Tommy ride at King's Lynn, I'm sure I must have had the pleasure at some point before he died, even though as a 10 year old my mind was probably on other things. I can thoroughly recommend this book to anyone, I was in tears as I read the last few pages of it last night. A truly wonderful insight into the allbeit short life and career of a once brilliant talent in our speedway world. RIP Tommy Jansson.

Very doubtful seeings though it's been reported on the BSPA site that Nicki has collarbone, rib and shoulder injuries AND internal bleeding following the crash on Saturday night.
-
Very doubtful. He certainly is, whether most like it or not, and with two grand prix wins so far under his belt there was no way he was going to give up on trying to claim this one too. Unfortunately this time he didn't, but fair play to him for taking himself through the pain barrier to at least have a go.
-
Gobsmacked you even started this thread!!! Glad you did though, he deserves one of his very own after another stunning performance. Well done NP

I'll second that Schumi!

Nicki P = flawless. Well done the Main Dane.

Who Is Likely To Deny Jason Another Title
Shortcrust replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would love to see Nicki take the title again this season I think Andreas Jonsson is a good outside bet for the title this year.
